I really can't understand why people use/buy Windows. Did you know that there's no anti-virus for Apple? For there's no virus that affects the system. Sure there are some on sale, but they're mostly decorative. I use an Core2 Duo 2.66 which has a partition for Windows OS, and whenever I have to access the Windows side - to retrieve a file stored there for instance - it seems it takes ages for the whole system to wake up and work. And I really hate all those updates that take minutes. I am glad that I am getting confused when using Windows - a clear sign that my brain is working faster with Apple.

I don't know why you are talking about Japanese teachers as non-native speakers. They are very native to Engrishiyu, and as fas as I know it's quite different from English:

English: the language spoken in UK-NZ, Australia, US. Engrishyu: the language Japanese people speak, besides Japanese. They are bilingual!

No, IMO. I have heard English native speakers making mistakes that are acceptable (using among instead of amongst, for instance) or misspelling written words (looser instead of loser, as sometimes we see here on JT). I don't mind that, but what really annoys me is that sometimes you see a non-native speaker who can share his own ideas on politics, arts, society, science in an almost perfect English denied a job because a native speaker who can't speak anything but "whassup" but has the talent of, well, being a native speaker got this because some schools give priority to native speakers. Damn, I met a nice Canadian guy, who couldn't write "throughout" without missing one of the letters...

Well, they want to see your body in details in X- rays that very likely you yourself can't see. And they let a battery pass undetected.

There's one thing about Starbucks that is question mark to me: why Americans don't like the brand, while the rest of the world sees Starbucks as a good coffee, reasonably priced for the chic-atmosphere inside their shops. However, I heard they have 20 shops in Brazil now, I visited one in Sao Paulo and their service is much better than in NY or Chigaco. I guess Starbucks US staff needs some training on how to be nice to customers. My 2 cents.

@ Reona: thanks for the information. I am sure South Africans will throw a fantastic popular party.

If all the tickets aren't sold FIFA will still want the stadiums to look full on TV so maybe they'll let local people attend at much reduced prices.

FIFA has had this plan since SA got the hosting rights. They didn't sell to the locals first because they wanted to avoid the tickets-merchants who buy cheap and sell high. Right now, a ticket is being sold for locals for US$40 - not that cheap for the average SAn, but affordable anyway.

Also, I don't know why FIFA chose South Arica - soccer is not played at a good level there - we all know rugby is their sport. The country is not a happy place, unfortunately.

The same could be said about 2002 Korea-Japan. But you saw how soccer became popular here and in Korea (to the point of both countries bidding for 2018 and 2022 World Cups again - expect some heart attacks on Dec 2). And South Africa has always had one or more representants in WC biddings - they're persistent and Africa deserves to host this huge popular party.

I believe GW is here to stay. Shorter and colder winters, hotter and longer summers, but I wish I was wrong.

unscrejects, exactly. Prices in Japan are inflated. Once I met a group of Japanese tourists in Ao Nang, Thailand and they're riding on Limousines along the road by the beach. It was ridiculous. Later I was told they pay for this when buying travel packages in Japan.

What can one infer from this article: the closer you get to Palin, or to her ideas, the bigger the chances you can be called lunatic.

I think JNTO is a waste of money: Japan is not a country a tourist recommend to his/her friends to visit. Japan never will have the numbers like the rest of SE Asia, Australia, Europe, Americas or even Africa. It is a country people come to work, to study and then sayonara. My guess is that they will keep this 5 or 7 million tourists (including the PRs JNTO counts as tourists entering their second country) per year. I think that this part of the world (Koreas and China included) are a one-trip experience in a lifetime. I surely don't want to return as a tourist to boring Korea and Japan, and uncouth China.

Molenir, you're wrong. Being in Brazil, I know, or more accurately, I can feel what's going on. In short, Brazilian President, Lula, is a dumb man. He is one of those leaders who refers to US as "that imperialist nation that have dominate our beautiful country..." So, you infer the rest. Basically, he is not protecting Amazon forest as he could. Last year he fired his Minister for Environment Affairs, because she was against this dam. Cameron may be a merchant, but he is doing the right thing now.

And for those shrugging their shoulders about Amazon, remember that it's very likely that the medicine that saved someone you love came from plants, microorganisms or animals from that region.
