they are rubbing salt into the wounds of those who have supported them all these years.

If they have been doing this to friends, imagine what is the life of the ones they hate... I think that religion and politics aside, this is the right time to fix the problems in that region. What's is UN, US, Russia and France waiting for? For a nuclear battle to start and then act? Well, perhaps I am not that wrong. A war in ME would be the perfect opportunity to reshape the map there.

You can't compare Japan railway system with large countries, such as US, Australia, Russia, Canada, India, just because the whole of Japan in most cases is smaller than some of these nations' states.

Posted in: The fact of the matter is Japan is about 100 years in advance as far as mass transit system compared with ours. They were able to have trains that can go up to speeds of 125 miles (200 kilometers) an hour some 50 years ago. And what are we doing?

Ok, Nessie, then what would be this "internally evolved" morality? where does it come from?

I have a question for all of you who voted NO: why then don't you go on a crazy binge for whatever comes to your mind, if you have no responsabilities after this life? Why don't you make your wildest dreams come true at any cost? Happines and sadness we may afflict to other people are not our responsabilities, if we don't have to answer for them after we die.

I have an answer: we don't go crazy the way we may want because there's something deep inside our hearts that warns us that, yes, there'll be something waiting for us. Something bigger than we may guess and this scares us. And even if some of us don't believe in life after we die, all of us feel that "thing" will ask you and me of our past acts.

I certainly feel this inside me. This is what stopped me from taking the ultimate "act of freedom and disbelief in life after death", to kill myself. And I think this is what stops other people too, even if they are not believers.

Accidents happen, shoganai. But to run away from an injured person is the ultimate kind of cowardice.

My guess is that the volume was ok, but you know when your trains stops completely for a minute, waiting the lights turn to green? That's when you realise how Japanese can be silent. Or maybe, it was really loud. Dixie Chicks? Well, I would complain too. In Engrish.

China is a "wrong" country, along with that other country who invaded somebody else's land, etc etc etc...so no wonder the civilized world can not accept its wrongness.

Problem is bowling atmosphere in Japan is so corporative, it looks like people bowling is having a meeting instead of having fun.

U.S. needs Toyota more than Toyota needs U.S.

Can we laugh, a lot? Take my brother as an example: he just gave up buying a Corolla and now is buying a Hyundai. Do we really need Toyota?

KobeKid, your students brought tears to my eyes. It's good to see that most Japanese feel shocked, helpless, frustrated about this ugly problem. You should be proud of them!

As an amateur observer, I think J-architecture makes you feel lonely. I never felt comfortable inside some buildings, museums for instance, which is a place you are supposed to be enjoying your free time. The ultra-modern thing can have adverse effects.

I think Prince Charles is right when slams modern architects in England, organic buildings are more comfortable, you feel relaxed and yourself. While modern glass-boxes make you feel anxious, out of place.

I agree 100% with you, TastyGreen. State money and camaradage from co-workers would be a great incentive.

You can argue all you want about whose land it is

I just wanted to show you where US is wrong. US should have backed the state of Israel AND a state of Palestina, back in 1949, instead of only a pro-Israel instance.

the BEST course of action for all is to find a way to make a Palestinian state that can co-exist with an Israeli one.

Now your lens is clean and you are focused. eheh.

What do people here think is going to happen once Israel locates all of the Iranian nuclear facilities and has credible intel that Iran is close to completing a bomb?

By now, Mossad must have enough info on that. I guess, though, there won't be any war this time. Iran is a big country, and there are a lot of allies backing Ahmadinejad. A US-Israel versus Iran wan would spread to other countries - do you doubt Chavez wouldn't be more than happy to take a ride on this train (against US) and start a local war against Colombia (who has a US base) that would surely infect the Spanish speaking world, for instance? -and that is not what US economy needs right now.

So true. So many wrongdoings and scandals lately it makes you wonder that Japan is going to be China's Mexico in a few years.
