If you have money to spend, they're great. But they're not fun, people don't go to depatos to spend time, like you see in other countries. Mostly due to staff watching you as if you are about to run away with their goods.

You're right Libertas, former Spanish PM Jose Maria Aznar is now a persona non grata in his own Spagna. Mr. Blair is already paying the price: best-seller writer Paulo Coelho said he will step down from the 2016 Olympic comitee if Blair - who he called a "war criminal" is invited to work him. Bush evil legacy will spread its wings over the countries that sponsored his oil war.

Well, we shouldn't be worried. Given the weather situation, soon Winter Games will be no more. At least outdoor sports.

I really can't understand you guys watching NHK + Becky + "nihon numbawan!" when you have the choice of internet + English experts + intelligent comments.

stevepfc,
Anyway, you should read the whole thing. There's a lot of people who do not symphatize with Mr. Del Vecchio's suffering. When he, or they, decided to divorce, he should be aware that he has no rights whatsoever over his daugher in Japan. He should have travelled with her to US, and then, there, he should have asked to divorce his wife.

However, Tony, you being a professor in Japan, errr, didn't you know about the side effects of marrying a Japanese citizen? You fool.

Yes, I do. According to an organization - which name I can't remember right now, but must be familiar to any person related to aviation - all carriers are flying overweight, well above a risk limit traced by this international aviation organization. US NTSB acknowledged this limit, but refused to imposed it on american carriers. There's at least one fatal accident in US that claimed the lives of everybody onboard due to the fact that the total weight of all passengers, not the cargo, was above the load limit advised by its manufacturer, but the number of people inside the plane was within the limit. Fat people should travel by train, by ship, but never by planes. Or they should fly cargo.

I am not afraid of flying, but I must confess I feel upset when I see fat people getting onboard. IMO, fat people should be banned from planes.

Good point about the poor state of most Japanese zoos. It's unacceptable that a rich city like Tokyo maintains those poor fellas inside tiny cubicles. But wait, if J-citizens can't afford a decent spacious house, let alone having space for animals. Poor pandas.

It is wrong to judge his parents. We don't know anything about this his private life. Who knows if mother and father were the most caring ones? And psychopaths need not a reason to kill, to injure.
I really pity his parents. What really hurts me is that when I was in Japan, the older generation seemed kind, gentle, the way Japan is portraited abroad.

Because most Japanese celebrities challenge our sense of ridiculous. You don't see this so often in other countries. Where US midia has ONE Paris Hilton, Japanese midia has hundreds of her.

I tried hard to understand this, but I honestly can't. You saying they pretend to be airheads in front of cameras? This is so self explanatory...
Point is: if you are a Japanophile you love them. If you are not, they're dumb. There's no way in-between.

I don't think this is something like GM-US versus Toyota-Japan. It's more safety related than politics related. Japanese industries are losing their quality touch, due to a miriad of factors that you guys living in Japan have a clear notion. Last week it was anounced that Malaysia Airlines and other carriers will postpone the entry of its first Airbus A380 due to false data, and lack of quality, on the passengers seat provided by the Japanese manufacturer. Expect a huge investigation with Boeing, Airbus, US, Japanese and other governments onboard. Truth is: Japanese industry is not what we think it is.

men: a good tailored suit will make you the most beautiful gaijin on the block, they're pretty cheap in Japan - if you are slim, I mean. If you are fat, then you really need to buy an expensive suit, sorry.
women: have you seen the "Business Lady Set" sold at The Suit Company? It will do, but again, they have only slim sizes. If you are fat, then dress up gorgeously.

Police should keep an eye on airports now. There are numerous examples of Brazilians fleeing hours after a crime was commited and when Police finally decides to arrest them, they are already out of reach.

From 70,000 to 30,000/night? It's still a lot of money. A hairdo for 2,000? Stop whining, will you? 250,000,000 yen for a new club, called O? Ohhh!!! Ginza only downgraded from ultra-expensive place to very expensive place. What are they complaining about?
