    @rajah and pam

Deadman was a great movie. DId it flop? I think like most Jarmusch movies it just stayed under the radar. Recently taught it in school actually and went over old William Blake poems w/ the kids which was quite interesting. (William Blake was what a lot of the movie was based on.) Definitely check it out if you haven't. Of f the top of my head I'd say it's Depps best movie.

    speedracer,

you are confusing nudity with privacy. I assume she, like other famous ppl aroung the world, wants to go out wi/o the press hounding her, taking pix of her getting into this and that car, store, bar, etc. As an entertainer, her job is to be in the public eye, acting, or taking her clothes off for advertising. But when she goes home she wants to be a private citizen. So, As long as you're not standing outside her window slobbering, you can slobber guilt-free.

That thing looks like one of those high-power vibrators they market as massage tools.

I wonder if thhe similarity of shape is a part of marketing strategy. I wonder if there are any fun movement games being developed along those lines.

    Quote Unexpectedly angry local folk?

That&s weird on many levels. How unexpected? Their way of life, identity, job, craft, existence is belittled and put down by foreigners who get an Oscar and then international recoginition. And these are small town ppl who work hard braving the elements to do wat they do and live their life. Braving and living at the mercy of the elements is good enough, but now they have the pressure of the world looking at them and judging them without trying to get to know them, and probably the pressure of the rest of Japan, which is being judged on the basis of those villages. Like, duh. Think about what&s really going here and the ppl involved.

hard to believe the wtc bldgs falling straight down like that was b/c of the planes. Pretty clearly detonated. residue also found.

The way the bldgs just crumpled straight down, involving broken structure on pretty much all floors, far away from the planes, and the residue of demolitions explosions found in the wreckage, hard to believe it was not planned.

As far as not finding "100 guys in caves" well that could be on purpose, but the caves the guys are in, the territory, tribes, national borders and numbers of caves/mts/ altituede, not nec. easy.

    Don&t trust the govt.

    ditto to bighujiyama

govt and ground are diferent in jpn.

also though, they lost a very painful war in a humiliating fashion. the conquerors have their motives for making themselves look good and right, and the losers have their motives for trying to preserve self-esteem. it&s a complicated situation.

This book is just another aspect of history that is/is not true depending who you ask and how they feel about it. (yes, yes, the facts in the bk may be wrong, but the feelings o the winners about winning and the feelings of the losers about losing will filter any facts and non-facts further).

Anything and everything is circumstances and that particular reality, not unchangeable principles.

I have no idea if this couple are happy, but what I have ssen on their faces is better than many half-dead married couples who are say 30 or 40 and same age. That doesn&t mean my impression is right, but it is possible. When did they begin their romantic relationship-- who knows? The only thing gross to me is physically immature.

I have taught in elementary schools and jr hs schools, and there are plenty of physically mature girls. And boys I suppose. However, maybe this couple waited several yrs until 15 or 16, by which time most are physically mature. As for emotionally mature, are you going to let licensed psychologists tell you what you can do and what you are ready for? I cannot imagine, really even imagine, having a relationship with a hs girl. However, the reason is it would be too much to handle on many levels and it would drive me batty. Teaching them in school is hard enouhhg. I need someone more mature. If that guy is unlike me, maybe he could handle her, be a good partner for her and give her what she needs. Who cares what the shrinks say? What about that couple in Seattle? the woman teacher who got pregnant by a student, 14 yo boy, wnet to prison, got out, they got married. They are still married and he is in his 20s now, and they profess their love to the world. All kinds of things are possible.

Yeah, but the picture of the day could be something interesting, inspiring, beautiful, but it is almost always some lame PR event with bored models standing around pretending to be interested. It&s a free commercial for Mr. Donuts.

Will it win after doing something like that?

I would be less inclined to vote for it.
Though I haven&t seen it yet. Maybe it&s good enough it wouldn&t matter.

The bribes I read about always amaze me.

Some public official looks the other way for 10, or 20,000 usDollars. Like risking imprisonment, loss of job and respect for that much? I mean I&m all for selling your soul, but not cheaply. A refrigerator?

They call them donuts, and they call this a donut publicity event, but really I think it&s just an excuse to get the girls out in public holding their sugary holes in their hands.

Other than being a foreigner who sings Enka, I do not know what is remarkable about him. He doesn&t seem to sing poorly and his personality doesn&t come across as grating as some others on TV, but other than that my impression of him is a guy who&s really into his hobby. He&ll need to practice a bit more to be like, memorable, or a headliner, imo.

sorry it&s more like biting the hand that fed you. when you&re an animal and you bite the hand that feeds you then you&re left out in the cold so you should be careful about not biting that important hand. That&s what that means, not like be nice to ppl b/c that&s what&s expected or correct. In this case the old guy can&t live w/o his wife and his paycheck is shrunk if he&s on retirement so there&s no real harm in biting the hand. Also laws these days mean women can live on their own and get money from their husbands. If there&s love between them, then that will keep them going, but if not, they were using each other all along, and that&s (emptiness and desperation) what greets you at the end of that road.

thx, I figured it out. I dropped tea on my keyboard and bought a new one and I can&t find an apostrophe on the new one-- it&s there but comes out as &, so I was using star* instead b/c it looked better, but it made italics.

you have until you die to live your life. it&s what you make of it. What you cant see, and sneaks up on you over the years, bitterness, lack of love, blaming, despite thinking things are ok, thats your own fault. Like the tiger that sneaks up on you in the woods. Its your own responsibility to watch out for it, if you dont want to get et.

Walk blithely, get et, well, I hope you had a good walk.
