On a deep level, to win you have to understand your opponent and yourself. It sounds simple but it is not. It is also something(the study of this understanding of self and other) that can go very deep. If you follow this discipline to the end, you go beyond body and mind consciousness and come to awareness of the universe/existence and connectedness of the self and the other with existence. That is what most ppl would call spiritual. I don't know if the book will get you there tho.

Spanish for sawajiri toca mi culo

Catalan was outlawed for decades and everyone was made to speak Spanish, all schools Spanish. Now they are free. The languages are similar but yet different. Like Spanish and Italian. Everyone is bilingual Sp/ Cat.

Peeing in public is different. Public nudity is different. (peeing and changing clothes). You have to accept it here. Stop feeling so uncomfortable about something natural and normal to the ppl who live here. It's not harmful to you or your kids unless you have an uptight reaction and give your kids a complex.

On the other hand, flashing people is creepy and scary but in most cases (not all) harmless. He probably wants attention, to make a shock or be acknowledged, more than anything. Ignore him and move on is best.

What I've read of the manga is often pretty funny. TV show I imagine is same. Why is it rubbish for kids?

Never been to that place but Jpns mts are steep and there are plenty of places where you could slip and fall and die if careless.

    but-- Male Menopause??

burakumindes those kind of crimes need someone to accuse you, so you would not be arrested unless your girlfriend wanted to lock you up and said you were attacking her. In Jpns culture public displays of affection are not the norm and would very likely make the other train-riders very uncomfortable. Depending what you were doing and who they were they might make a complaint, but I doubt you would be arrested. There may be some public decency laws and depending on what ("how far") you were doing, I suppose a cop having a bad day could make up an excuse to arrest you. Which they can do anytime whether you grope your girlfriend or not.

Maybe the fact that she could see what kind of guy he was is why she confronted him? If your eyes are open, you can tell people who are crazy, who are seriously dangerous, and who aren't sure of themselves a mile away. That said, even so, depending on how together she is, one is, she could possibly confront a hard gangster a similar way and win. And yet a hundred others could imitate her and wind up in the hospital. People aren't predictable chemical reactions. And all situations are fluid.

Silly sounding wooden stick= probably a wooden sword from Japanese fencing. Well made, they hurt a lot, and can break bones and kill no problem. Ina a country w/o guns, it's a serious weapon.

Yeah going on about celebrities getting high is boring and trivial. Got it.

So, does anyone know what the dotted condoms line means?

Just curious, different from normal colored condoms? Just a joke?

    @mindovermatter, and a couple others

You are talking about the US laws or somewhere. In Jpn, any amount of alcohol in your blood is illegal for driving and you can face fines , lose your license etc etc, despite possibly being effectively sober as you said. For another thing, in Jpn a relatively high percent of the ppl here/ in East Asia, lack an enzyme in their body to break dn and digest alcohol, and so can get ridiculously drunk off of like half a can of weak beer.

@bob the hosts in a host bars get paid more in one day than I do in a month. regular bar tenders, well a bus druver gets paid whatever and goes out in crowded traffic with speedy impatient kids driving, other selfish types, very short hard to see elementary school kids jumping out, etc and is expected not to have an accident, right? keeping track of the environment around you is necessary in any job.

A 17 yr old prodigy-type friend of mine, when I was 17, ie long ago, was lent a stradivarius, the most famous kind of violins. I don't know its value, but he put it on the roof of his parents car when opening the door to get in. Then drove off.

The violin wasn't hurt, luckily. and they got it back. Artists are spacey sometimes.

    So what??

I don't get the moralistic holier-than-thou Western crusaders. Always gotta tell other people their business and the Better Way to Live. I like dolphins and the meat supposedly has high mercury content so I don't need to eat them, but so what if someone else does?

I'm not blind, I am a sighted (sightful?) pedestrian and frequent bicycle rider and I am afraid of noiseless cars becoming more frequent.

They sneak up on you. That plus a drunk, or angry, or young impatient driver, or plus the pedestrian being distracted, and ... Nevermind being blind man. A ton of moving steel should make some noise.

To everyone, especially ossan and John Elder

Black bears are smaller and by nature less agressive than brown bears. Both are likely to avoid humans if they know they are coming, hence the recommendation of bells. However if you surprise them suddenly on close range, say a sudden turn in the trail and they couldn't smell/hear you, then they may attack. If they have young nearby, more likely they will attack, if you find yourself between them and their young, highly likely. In N America there are both black and brown bears. (grizzlies are one type of brown bear). In Japan the only brown bears are in Hokkaido. The black ones in Honshu etc., are even smaller than black ones in N America. I have had many experiences of hiking along and hearing bang crashing and looked over a ridge to see a bear running away from me.

However this article is highly irresponsible-- "just take off your bell" if you want to see a bear is stupid advice, especially to a largely ignorant public. They are unlikely to attack, but they do sometimes and they will win, you will be mauled. Be careful and make noises and keep them away.

These tours leading a large group into the mts don't need bells, they will be easily heard/smelled by the bears. Unless the researcher has some special tricks, which he may, I would imagine the only way you could see them under those circumstances is above tree-line from a great distance.

Give Japanese mts a shot. They are beautiful.
