Why only Tokyo? Overseas tourists like to visit places like Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Nara etc., why hasn't this permeated through those Tokyocentric skulls? If Japan is serious about promoting tourism they have to get out of this 'Tokyo is Japan' mindset.

We went to Matsue and Izumo last month, it was lovely. We found a nice restaurant near our hotel. The winery was a disappointment, it all tasted like undiluted Ribena.

I agree with frontandcentre. I take some comfort in the fact that the BNP's share of the vote was less than it was in 2004. Voters for other parties, especially Labour, just stayed at home, only the right wing nutters came out last Thursday. I'm ashamed to be British.

A mental health unit is one of the few places in the UK where it's impossible to be bothered by the media. A wise move.

When did the author of that piece last drive in the UK? All but point 8 of his whine could also be written about the UK.

This would be funny if they wasn't serious. Racist claptrap. Doesn't Japan want foreign money then?

I assume the is a student, therefore he/she are most likely over 18. Why would they name the protester anyway, they've been arrested but not charged.

I think fertlity drugs and religion may have a lot to do with this. I hope they have good medical insurance, a large income and a supportive family or they are going to be in deep trouble. What on earth possessed the parents to carry on with the gestation of sextuplets anyway? They were very, very lucky, most multiple births this size usually mean losing one or all of the foetuses. Can you imagine what it's done to the health of the mother? It must have been unbearable.

It's the woman's body, her choice. Keep religious beliefs out of the debate, not everyone believes in a magic sky fairy.

wuzzademcrat - are you going to retract your homophobic comment or not?

wuzzademcrat - Britain has very liberal libel laws. Are you suggesting a public organization sues for libel? Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous.
FYI - Sky has also said it would not broadcast the appeal. Where are the posts slagging off Sky? So, in the UK that's two broadcasters who won't screen the appeal against the three that said they will (but haven't done so yet, I wonder why?).

So apart from me, no one who has posted here is actually in the UK. And has more than a couple of biased websites for information. Why I avoid other ex-pats.

Because Britain is London and Japan is Tokyo. Apparently.

And now Roger2 spouts more paranoia and made up facts. 'Strong pressure from the people'? I don't think so. A few rabble rousers invading the BBC in Glasgow is not representative of the British people.

I've never read so much paranoia and racist misinformation in a long time. How many of you are in the UK?

Many posters here seem to be labouring under the mistaken assumption that the BBC made this decision due to government pressure. The British government has CRITICISED the BBC for not showing the appeal and is urging them to so.
Fuuny all the 'evidence' posted against the BBC is via the Daily Mail, a paper that regards the BBC as the enemy
Like I said, uninformed opinion and avoidance of the facts on this story.
