Delta should invest in JAL and the Hatoyama govt should promote this deal.
JAL has so many hi spec slots in Haneda, Narita and Kansai that are the perfect launching pad for Delta to the Chinese market.
The share price is at a discount right now which supports the low dollar.
Delta will bring a more realistic management structure and strategy.

Thanks jea711. I was wondering whether he would face a jury or not. I'm glad the Japanese police found him and now we have to wait for due process. However, by being silent without a jury, he's not helping his case.

If the Emperor did visit SK, he'd find that young Koreans are forgetting (or ignoring) their history too, and that the animosity is dissipating.
However, the Emperor is displaying the very thing he is worried about: a reluctance of confronting an external viewpoint of Japan.

An Australian insurance company will not insurance cancelled JAL tickets which is a signal from the market about the company's future.
However, the Ministry of Transport has made comments that it WILL bail out JAL.
Japan is a an important hub and the expansion of Narita and Haneda offer JAL an opportunity to secure quite a few slots. Their routes need to be rationalised quickly to compete for these slots.
To remain viable JAL needs to trim 30% from costs to be able to meet the market ticket pricing. About 7,000 jobs will be trimmed but more will need to go.
If Delta or AA take an interest in JAL maybe they will have the fortitude to restructure and turn things around. The solution has to be painful.
