@gogogo Have seen this so many times here it sickens me. Language skills are great and should be commended but it does not make you instantly all powerful in the world of business. I know a number of Japanese companies that hire based solely on Japanese ability and then wonder why they end up with people having no business acumen.

I get "pinged" from China all the time, also have soft bots from there testing all the open ports and seeing if they can log in, this has been going on for years. Firewall I've set up logs it all. Could be that this wasn't a "targeted attack" as normally they just run through all on-line computers that have any open ports.

I'm in Hamamatsu, and we've strong gale force winds here. I battened down the hatches last night but one of the tarp covered outbuildings I use for storage might lose it's covering. Tried to reinforce it again but the battering wind and rain forced me back inside after about five minutes. This is a hell of a storm.

Maple syrup is great but this study is hardly groundbreaking similar results were released six months ago: http://www.upi.com/Health_News/2011/03/31/Maple-syrup-may-help-treat-diabetes/UPI-13931301577969/ A well time to make pancakes.

@Godan Similar situation in my case, and I agree with what you are saying however I keep trying and do on occasion win a battle or two. The war on the other hand is a different matter. I doubt that Japan will change its overall attitude towards non-Japanese no matter how hard we try to assimilate, at least not in my lifetime but then I never expected that it would and am willing to accept it and have made a great life for myself here.

LOL, couldn't agree more even though I know it's considered cute (or whatever) in Japan to have a 27 year old woman speaking and acting like she's 13. If I were forced to marry her the first thing I would do is buy a gun and shoot myself.

So let me get this straight, if I rape a woman then she cries out and I strangle her to shut her up it is not premeditated because I was shocked at her reaction to the fact that I had just beaten the crap out of her and raped her? Full life in the most unsavory jail cell with only the occasional cockroach as a companion.

I work in both systems, primarily in inches in my wood working as I like the sound of 29 9/64ths" and great fun when you need to divide it by three and I was brought up with measurements in board feet , in metal work I work mostly in metric although sometimes in the American attempt at compromise using tenths, hundreds and thousands of inches. Oh yes, I do also work in traditional Japanese measurements if the customer or job requires it, for me it's just strapping on a different tape measure. Anyway time to go out for my late afternoon walk of 15 chains, then come back and quaff a few gills of ale.

@legs, did the same thing here, newest party is watching the electric meter spin, it's only money after all, and a great form of amusement.
For me the alternative to nuclear electric power is feeding my caged gerbils steroids so they can stay in the wheel cages longer and longer and run for hours. Who needs nuclear power when you have rodents hooked up to the grid.
