It weird seeing Russians not many as they did back when they were the Soviets.
Then again, the Soviets had the best sports medicine in the world. The doctors began to realize they could make a fortune if they share their secret to the U.S. Where do you think the supplements came from?
Baseball players were destroying records which weren't broken for 20-30 years, especially in the HR category.
Unfortunately in 2002, they were now considered as banned substance and the Russians were getting their medals stripped away.

paulinusa,
You will see Mirai Nagasu in 2014, but I doubt that Rochette will even compete for a medal or enter in 2014. 28 is considered a grandma age for ladies figure skating and Nagasu will only be 20 in 2014.
There's no point fighting for a bronze. Mirai's next goal is for the gold.

Canada is not going to win 14 gold again.
The Ruskies will win the most gold, since it's going to be held in their turf. Usually host nations do their best at home. Even a pathetic country like Japan won 5 gold in Nagano.
All these so-called record number of medals, I mean come on?? If you compare to the 1980's the events have almost doubled so of course record numbers of medals would be broken. During the cold war, such events like short track speed skating, and snowboarding, plus cross country racing never exist. Snowboarding itself nearly doubled the events compared to the Cold War. Plus, the East Germans no longer exist with their undetectable steroids and the Soviet sport medicine which gives oxygen to the muscles are not banned.

By the way, I love short track skating.
My favorite is that Australian Short Track Skater Steven Bradbury. He won 2 gold medals, which is more than the whole country of Japan back in 2002. He won because he was so far behind the other skaters, while Ohno and the Koreans crashed into a pile, Bradbury was the one who skated for the gold.
Bradbury called himself the luckiest guy in the world, because how often can you win short track when others crash into a pile?

Koreans hating Ohno has nothing to do with him having Japanese ancestry.
They like Mao Asada, and she's Japanese.
South Koreans hate Apolo Anton Ohno because of his dirty shoving tactics and caused the Korean skater to be disqualified back in 2002. That is when the USOC server crashed, because 40,000 hate mails were sent from South Korea to Ohno.
Koreans hating Ohno has nothing to do with him having Japanese ancestry. They hate him, because they think he cheats and shoves a Korean skater into disqualification. I think Ohno should endorse himself to Korea. Koreans can use Ohno as a hate campaign ad. He might make more money in Korea than Yuna Kim.
Koreans hate Ohno more than they love Yuna Kim. So you get the idea how much they hate the guy.

I'm a sore loser. I almost broke my 50 in TV after Canada beat US in Ice Hockey Gold Medal game.
I hate Canada!

Doubt that there will ever be a perfect system.
Cheating in figure skating was common in the past. Look at 1980 when Linda Frantiane got cheated out of her gold to a communist East German.
Is the new system prevents cheating? Time will tell. It's only been around for 8 years and before that the pairs and Ice Dancing always went to the Soviets.

Here's my excuse!!
Without American fans, NHL would fold since NHL can't survive on Canadian fans alone.
Now Canada can go to hell!!

Look I'm just messing with you guys about Canada..
I have many Canadian friends, and I always give then cr@p about Canada.
I know Canadians get pissed when Japanese can't tell the difference between Americans and Canadians. Since it is so common for Japanese to go up to Canadians and ask if they are Americans.
Yeah Canada won 13 medals since they are going to lose to the Americans again in Ice Hockey. Do you know why NHL is willing to take 2-3 weeks off so their best players can represent their country? That's because they want USA-Canada type gold medal match. Without America, NHL would fold since Canada has far less population than the state of California. I think Tokyo has more people than the whole nation of Canada. It shows you how pathetic the Japanese Olympic committee is. Since NHL can't make $$ in Canadian cities, they have to make $$ in the US.
Why do you think Wayne Gretzky was traded from Edmonton to LA? Edmonton couldn't afford keeping the great one. He was only making a little over $800,000. In LA, he made 2-3 times that. Because Wayne Gretzky was traded to LA, 2 more NHL hockey franchises were made in California (Anaheim Ducks & San Jose Sharks). It pretty much saved NHL from folding.

It's kind of cool since the Nagano games when NHL players are allowed to participate in the Olympic games.
Unlike basketball, in Ice Hockey, anyone could win. Yeah, Canada might have the best players, but they're not guaranteed. Canada, USA, Czech, Russia, Sweden, Finland, and Slovakia all have NHL players. Anyone could win. Russia is nowhere near the teams they had when they dominated the Olympics, since they were professionals playing together for 10-20 years. This Russian team is from several different NHL or Russian League teams. They have the same disadvantage as all the other teams. If the Soviets were still playing in the old system they probably still be the favorites.

Wouldn't it be funny if Cana-DUH lose to the US, in Canadian soil, playing their national sport?
It already happened before EH??
It wouldn't be much of a miracle, since they are both using NHL players. Miracle on Ice was when US college players beat the Soviet professionals. Now, if any team beats Russia, it's not a big deal. The Russian team is nowhere near as good as the Red Empire. The Soviets were dominating, because they had professionals who played together forever. If the Soviets were still playing as USSR and not in the NHL, of course they are almost unbeatable. Not even Canada's NHL stars unless they are playing together for more than a year and they don't.

Kind of like that Rochette getting the mercy points, even though she didn't really do much. But she is Canadian and it's being played in Canada. Since this is most likely her last Olympics, because she'll be 28 which is considered grandma in Figure Skating age, I guess you might as well give her the bronze livinghope21

Yeah!! Canada the host country didn't pull the 88 Calgary failure.
Even Japan won at least 5 gold in Nagano games..
The U.S. has always been more consistent unlike Cana-DUH!!..
Watch Cana-DUH win single digit in gold for 2014.

Yuna Kim is the most loved athlete in Korea, while Apolo Anton Ohno is the most hated athlete in Korea.
During the 2002 Olympics when he got away with shoving Korean skaters, and had one Korean disqualified from getting the gold. The USOC server crashed, because there were about 40,000 hate mails sent to Ohno coming from Korea. When the World Cup was being played in Korea in 2002, Korea played USA, and there were nothing but hate signs of Ohno. The funny thing is, no one on the US soccer team really knew what the Koreans were talking about since they didn't know Ohno. After one Korean scored the tying goal, that player was doing a skating gesture.
Korean are very entertaining, when they hate you, they really let you know..
