Yeah aren't they like the tea-party movement? Heh, do they serve tea in US Starbucks...?

Saddam stopped them having a pilgrimage by threat of torture at the hands of his secret police and/or mass-murder. That was how he achieved a certain amount of stability.

Few people actually believe the neo-cons initial reasons for ordering the invasion that touched off the blaze, but even fewer believe they had any idea the extent of the horror they were to find in Pandora's Box.

It will soon be ten years. It's time the Iraqi's got their act together and pass a law on lacism. Religion, and a 1300, yes a one thousand and three hundred year old feud is the root cause of the carnage.

I think the first post sums it up perfectly.

A cop recently got shot, they over-reacted and shot a bloke in who was in all fairness waiving a .38 revolver.

Oh I think it's fair to heap 99% of the blame on the fundie Islamists that planned and carried out the attack.

It's the title of the article that I don't like.

    Climax?

Even when I hear Formula 1 historians talking about the famous "Coventry Climax" engine, it still sounds like the title of an adult film...

    Well said USN.

A handful of idiots and a mobile phone has put back all NATO efforts a few years and further stained the reputation of the tens of thousands of other soldiers there that are risking their behinds to carry out their job. War maybe hell, but what a bunch of a££holes.

"What if the Israeli Knesset or the U.S. Congress erupted with yells of "Death to Iran!"?"

They wouldn't, because none of us are yet down to the level of the hardline regime.

If any of our leaders are to get serious about tackling the mullah's, that is to say brandish the bigger, bigger stick, then I for one will be sending beer tokens.

"it could be any one of the Persian Gulf states. Nobody in the area wants a nuclear-armed Iran. Israel is just the easiest to blame."

    Sourpuss,

Oh, I wasn't blaming anyone. The religious nuts running Iran into the ground must be stopped from having the bomb at all costs. ALL costs.

I doubt to be honest that any of the Gulf States have the stones for this kinda job. They might have financed it though....

Well, I have no doubt this is the work of Western and/or Israeli intelligence.

No one likes to see anyone murdered, especially, academics - but it seems a better angle than bombing Iran to halt the un-speakable regime's nuclear ambitions. And it sends a message to Iran's would be Oppenheimers...

Obama has achieved things wolfpack, seeing them however, requires removing those duct-taped partisan blinkers....

Ok, ok....so many Americans don't care about how the rest of the world sees them, but that is pure foolishness and Mr Obama has indeed restored a partial image of the intelligent America that his un-couth, illiterate predecessor litteraly dragged through the sewer.

His performance hasn't been what many expected, but over-expectation is as easy constant complaints that he hasn't a amgic wand to wage and fix the ills of sever decades of poorly regulated capitalism run amok.

Not one of the conservatives candidates are credible, the only one that is genuine is nothing more than a tail-ender in the race. That speaks volumes about the state of NO, the party who's one and only policy is obstructing the opposition...

What it boils down to, is that allow this is a waste of time and money. Whoever finally gets the nomination is always going to lose to Obama.

I presume if there are any thinking heads left at the GOP, they're far more concerned as to who will be challenging Hilary in 2016.

Comedy is comedy. Elections in the US are not much different to a JT flame war. Only it's more difficult to simply change ones name to hide from previous positions out there in Reality.

I think "envy" is way down the list of emotion to outsiders looking in on US elections oldest, un-progresssive buddy. Like rock bottom.

The vindictive tradition of personal attacks, character asassination and supidity that emerges and seemingly worsens every two years is not something to be envied.

Neither is the mental state of some of the more dedicated followers, notably on the right. Four more years of Obama is sure to fill some beds in the pyshciatric ward.

    Cliff top more like.

It's going to be fun to watch these guys tear each other apart in the childish manner only US politics can produce. Team Obama must be gleefuly watching these strange rodents swarm about...

". Indeed, Obama is frequently lampooned on conservative and libertarian sites as the American Idol president."

Well, they don't have much more mud left to sling, do they buddyo?

The birther/after-birther ugliness was the icing on the cake of the stupidity that has taken hold of the GOP, swarming like un-checked anal cancer.

There will be hell on, the President might actually get something done, un-impeded by partisan crank-shafts in the party of No.

" The E.U. and US have been rattling this sword for some time, just egging on the Iranians, picking ANOTHER fight. "

Well I support surgical strikes on the nuclear facilities that are racing against the clock to put this regime at the nuclear negotiation table. It's as clear as day to anyone not in a knitting class tutting at imperialist dogs. Personally I'd call that egging us all on but that's just me. They were offered a light water reactor but obviously that wouldn't help their pursuits of (not) building a nuclear weapon.

The US shot us all in the foot with the Iraq stupidity. The threat of force is off the table, only actual force now can bend the religious cranks running Iran to the will of abandoning the nuclear weapon. It's a shame the first bombs dropped can't have Bush, Cheney and the rest of that administration strapped to them for castrating the international community in such a manner.
