The only tinpot dictator that saw the writing on the wall was the first to fall in the Arab Spring, the ex-leader of Tunisia.
Assad will probably end up on display on the hood of a 4x4 after being Gadaffi'd. I can't say Assad doesn't deserve it but even in the end I ended up going soft and feeiling sorry for the Colonel and his demise. But I guess a revolution needs an execution....
I hope the Syrian's get more support from the West, but it doesn't look forth-coming.

"So, your first comment was basically designed to give yourself a pat on the back?"
I think the first comment was clear enough.
The revoluition isn't over, and it is basically because nothing much has changed - Triumvere is spot on. Well, I suppose some change has occured, that of the current military rulers and some strange demands for a transition to democracy. It leaves me wondering whether the miltary's decision to drop Murbarak was more sinister than the apparent support towards the protesters of the Egyptian Arab Spring.

Some of the protesters concerns are legitimate in regards to the current military rulers strange pursuit of un-accountability.

Sellers of death by addiction over decades...facts known by Phillip Morris for at least 60 years.
I've got a simple solution. Introduce a 1000% tax on all of their tobacco products until they comply, or withdraw their cancer sticks from the Australian shelves. They can afford it.

Fuuny that. A "secular" leader that supports islamic terrorists. When Syria falls, as surely and as bloodily as it must, perhaps assad can find sanctuary amongst them.
At this stage my money is on a gadaffi style, retribution by the people. And why not?

After reading the severed-penis case recently I'm not surprised this geezer needs beefed up security in light of all the recent allegations of being a sex pest!
Surely it would be far more patriotic to hire some combat vets coming home from Iraq than waste the Secret Service's time?
Let's face it he's got as much chance of becoming the POTUS as I have.

Kudos to the marketing dept at benetton once again. Mission accomplished and a job well done.
Didn't they do this back in the nineties? I seem to remember a slain Mafia boss and some other contraversial images way back from Benetton...

"The surrounding Arab states should be the ones leading the charge but like everything else they just sit back and let the West do the dirty deeds while they agree stay silent to placate the masses."
Complex situation I agree Superlib. Placating the masses is the problem because those that haven't joined the Arab Spring would like to. Only they are friendly dictatorships to the West, so we placate them in order for the oil to flow freely. A real mess I agree. I only have one position now on Iran's nuclear program....
Take it out.
The risks are high, but by the time they achieve the bomb, it's too late. Maybe we could make some of these oil kingdoms that are depserate for the West to be proactive, pay entirely for any military action or provide lucrative deals. Heh, for once we could shaft them as they've been shafting us for years by the barrel, with the added bonus of Ahmedinajad's head on a pike and the potential for the democratic revolution the Iranians are desperate for.

"then they are now in process of being proved liars, and it's all on record."
The problem is that this process means we have to wait and see. For years the evidence has mounted against the Iranian regime, recently the evidence would seem damning.
I'll go a step further from Super's post and say it's time for the West to insist Russians also to pick a side. Sanity or lunacy being the choice.

Bush's botched doctrine of pre-emptive strike is what has emboldened the cranks ruling Iran.
There would be global protest against a strike I'm sure, but much, much more support outside the US were such plans to hit the UN debating table...

" The Left wants every single aspect of daily life politicized; sex is just one more area."
Heh, and the right don't? Just where does the fringe find these fundies?
I guess it's all the left-wing MSMS's fault for digging up the dirt on these miscreants. Was it also the fault of these crazed lefties when individuals like Teg Haggard, the W Whitehouse "spiritual advisor" and anti-gay rights activist gets busted for meth-fueled man-sex with gay prostiutes too, huh?
