Oh no, I get where you're coming from - it a case of any chance to bash the US must be seized.

In this case the vehicle for America bashing is bin Laden, which is why I'm tipping my hat to you, especailly as the article is about as factual as the bible.

And let's face it, had they taken him alive you'd be screaming blue murder about a show trial and then mounring on the date of his drawn-out execution.

So we have an article here that relies on absolutely no evidence, with the only source admitting he was probably mislead by Pakistani authorities to cover-up their incompetance/complacency in the whole bin Laden affair.....

    Slow news day.

    Hot Dog,

"Also, there is no way they would violently execute a demented man, especially if they had foreknowledge that he was demented and sidelined as well."

Need a hand satunching the flow from that heart?

I've seen people defend some pretty attrocious things here, but never once have I seen a Bin Laden apologist.

    Respect.

"This incident has always stumped me. It's a station that delivers fuel to Palestinans....and the militants attack it?"

Maybe because you are applying common sense in a region that forbids it?

If the Pals were to renounce terrorism and armed struggle for their cause, and stick to it, the Jewish state would soon become the bad guy in the eyes of the world. But as long as they keep sending rockets accross into civillian areas, then they're asking to be bombarded in return.

"You try to hijack our planes nowadays we won't go down without a fight."

Heh, textbook Chuck Norris fantasies. Sorry to spoil them, but even Chuck kicks strappin' freedom haters ass, not foaming at the mouth flight attendants armed with a PA system.

"Some liberal judge is gonna nail those pro-active passengers for "acting stupidly". When the Lame Scream Media gets through with this story nobody will move a muscle henceforth."

Goddammit ramen is right. I'm going to buy an extra gun today, I can't protect myself enough from the evils of a liberal society!

"That must be why Obama is continuing the war in Afghanistan"

He's winding down the wars to extract the US from these costly mistakes, but please feel free to introduce subjects ad lib instead of climbing down gracefully from your earlier untenable position.

"and his war secretary is saying all options are on the table concerning Iran's nuke program, because he's a Repub... waiiiiit a minute, Obama's a Democrat..."

    War secretary?

Yes; Obama is indeed not taking the threat of force off the table, but isn't bellowing hawkish rhetoric we would have seen from your boy Bush. He's using diplomatic engagement first and foremost, a concept lost the screaming right-wing I gather.

The Iranians may not take the threat of force seriously, again, because of Bush and his so-called War on Terror.

"And it's most certainly why North Korea sped up its efforts, resulting in a successful nuclear detonation in 2006."

    Exactly.

The so-called War on Terror had the opposite effect. Like Reagan's War on Drugs, a failure. Republicans love a war. At least in opposition the only war the Republicans are fighting is the War on Common Sense

    You don't have a case.

The Iranians openly mocked the US as it wallowed in it's own quagmire, and as they secretly fuelled the insurgency run amok post-invasion.

Claiming the disasterous decision to invade Iraq didn't effect the Iranian decision to restart their nuclear ambitions is laughabl.

" Which assumes that there is that real possiblity."

They turned down state of the art technology that allowed them nuclear energy without access to the nasty stuff.

From that point on, if you believe their intentions are not nuclear weapons, you believe in Santa Claus.

If I'm going to blame someone it's because I have a reasonable case.

Iran restarted its nuclear program in 2005, when it was clear the US was over stretched and floundering in Iraq, looking for WMD's that didn't exist.

    I rest my case.

"Let me get this straight "

I don't see how you can ever do that.

Keep on the topic laddie - this is about those fighting it out for lats place in '12, not those that achieved it in '08.

"Do they believe that a nuclear Iran is as grave a danger as Bush does?"

The Bush doctrine is basically what restarted the Iranian nuclear program, after they saw the US floundering next door in Iraq.

"Over 60 years later and the wounds have still not healed."

I don't think the wounds will heal until the survivors have passed on. I don't think it'"s right to persecute todays Germans for the Nazi's, but it's perfectly fair for these insurance companies, if indeed they had taken the money and ran as it were, be held accountable.

Why on earth hadn't this been brought up before? By the time any payouts happen the few remaining survivors will have surely died of old age?

I think you'll find that happened long before Obama took office.

    "What's changed in 3 years?"

Superlib has already point this out. The banking sanctions Obama has got the international community to agree to is a major milestone.

    The mullah's are getting squeeeeeeeezed.

"we could see a whole new Taliban arise and along bloody war."

I don't dispute that there could be serious side effects. But they all out-weigh the danger a nuclear armed Iran and a nuclear arms race in the hotbed of the middle east. Nobody wants a conflict, and the Iranians have gone to the wire playing cat and mouse diplomacy.

They have a chance to do the right thing, and if they don't, their facilities will be levelled. Nobody is axctually talking about an ariel bombardment of Tehran other than the usual loons on the screaming right.

I gave up giving Iran the benenfit of the doubt when they refused the generous offers from the big 5 on modern nuclear technology that removed their possibilities of being able toproduce weapons grade plutonium.

From there, their nuclear intentions are clear.

I've no doubt this will end in conflict. But if that's what has to be done to stop the mullah's starting a ME arms race then cout me in.

Saddam was a pimple compared to this regime.

    Sail,

" His policies has not produce anything close to what he campaigned on for a policy he had as a candidate towards Iran that one could call a success."

I think you can blame your boy W Bush for Iran restarting its nuclear process and making the threat of force seem less likely.. The mistake nextdoor was more costly than you might imagine.
