    tkoind,

" He was a self agrandizing showman yearning for the spotlight at the expense of others."

Isn't that the hallmark of most journalists?

    TheQ,

"At least Breitbart could support inflammatory claims with some semblance of evidence"

The" some semblance" part is the lack of quality journalism. Cheap sensationalism is easy. Look at the old turd rupert murdoch.

I don't really have an opinion on the fellow. 43 is young to die for anyone though. Some of the comments are indeed a tad harsh.

"Wonder how this compares with Syria so far............."

Aren't the two pretty much uncomparable? One is an ariel bombardment followed by foreign invasion, the other is a popular uprising.

Considering the estimates of 10,000 civillian deaths on the first night of "Shock and Awe", I'm not surprised the Iraqi governments figures start in 2004. They must have excluded the "pacification" of Fallujha.

In fact, todays figure up for today seems as far-fetched as the Lancet was.

    "Did someone steal Iraqi oil?"

Claiming this conflict was about anything other than a conflict about oil is up there with the Flat Earth Society.

The instant booty went to US companies associated to the instigators of the invasion, and the US taxpayer got shafted.

    Superlib,

" I think most people bought the lies about civilian casualties and won't be changing their minds anytime soon."

I think the same can be said for those not wanting to acknowledge a higher bodycount. The most credible source remains Iraqbodycount, which is double.

Either way we're back to arguing of a freaking huge pile of bodies, whatever the number.

It was raining eggs, if you read the article.

"maybe he is referring to all the fatcats"

Nope, he's showing the crippled economic awareness of a champagne socialist who left uni to join the socialist party. The bloated fool hasn't done a days work in his life. The thought of him in charge of a France already in econimic turmoil is terrifying.

Sarkozy is bad, but he's the best of a rotten bunch.

"Eye for an eye. Don't allow them in London."

Nah Brits aren't as pathetic as their Argentinian counter-parts. They'll gladly take tourist coin, rather than loose out the idiots.

Heh, they could always try invading if not.

It is a disgrace. He should be at least receiving similar treatment to DSK having corruption as an extra vice on top of banging 17 prostitutes and embezzling government funds for orgies at one of his many pads.

Oh, and somebody dhould tell him it's really time to go grey with dignity. My God the hair.

They're un-educated cave people. I agree with Ben, they should be left to get on with it and use drones to zap any terror bots setting up camp n the future. It will save lives on both sides and a gargantuan pot of NATO cash. The mission is a failure.

Rupert Murdoch promising "decency" is as credible as a convicted paedophile saying he isn't turned on by kids anymore. It's a forgone conclusion.

"As for college, anyone who is capable can make it if they work their way through or get grants and/or loans."

Heh, have you tried getting a loan recently berbert? You sound as out of touch as Romney.

    Good posts as ever PM.

"Why does Obama want everybody to go to college? So his liberal college professors can be indoctrinating people like he has,” Santorum said, drawing a long ovation."

What a twisted load of poop. This man is frightening. A war on sodomy and a war on intellect. Yeehaaw.

    And more Denial.

I have a hard enough time taking Hugo seriously, let alone with that hard hat. Bells and ends spring to mind.

That Hugo thinks America sent his cancer show what fragile state of mind he has.

Interesting article Sail, funny to read about projections for 2008 and and 9 in the state of todays global economy. You linked the second page to the article, but I find the beginning of the article more telling:

"In offering a plan to cut the federal deficit in half by 2009, President Bush ignored more than $1.5 trillion in tax cuts and spending commitments that come due shortly afterward."

    Voodoo economics at it's best?

"They best get rid of that branch."

That statement reeks of the ignorance from an individual who actually cheered the invasion on from the beginning to this very day.

How does your strain of Denial deal with the fact that the sole reason al Qaida are able to operate in Iraq is because of the 2003 US-led invasion?

"So, even Al-Qaida targets their fellow Muslims."

Their fellow muslims are usually the targets. The radical terrorist group doesn't really exist, it is an ideology. Mr Bush tried his damndest to prove it right.
