Why does the media even interview her? Who cares that she got angry phone calls and hate mai. In my opinion she too should be in jail--after all, it seems her life of luxury was funded by criminal means.

Hmm..they raided the farm in 2008 and seized 100 guns? Sounds like a nutter to me, but I suppose others would say he was just a "good ole boy".

Soon as I heard their Project Gold hamburger, the new flagship offering, had a buttered bun, I knew I certainly would not be chowing down on one...they even got rid of the mustard!. Who on earth puts butter on their hamburger buns?

Reminds me of an old cartoon featuring an old geezer and young lady at dinner. He says "Would you love me if I wasn't rich" at the exact same time she asks "Would you love me if I wasn't young and beautiful".
Let's face it..we all know the answer

What kind of comment is "Out of curiosity are they still turned off at night?"
It is a waterfall for goodness sakes..they don't get turned off at night as if they are a faucet.

Since I am in Toronto right now (where this news story is featured on the TV news) and since I grew up in Niagara Falls, I would like to add a few points to the story.
Many, many people straddle the fences just above the falls and pose for pictures. Today they had a news crew filming a news story at the spot where this girl fell in, and there were a number of young adults standing, sitting and posing on the fence, even with a Niagara Parks policeman standing right there looking at them. The police stated all the signs in the world will not stop people from doing foolish things. One girl was asked by the camera crew why would you climb the fence and she just laughed it off saying it was only for a few seconds for a photo. So to Maitake and Whiskeysour who said "even Canadians are not that stupid"--I hate to say it, but they are that stupid.
In any case, condolences to the family. Something as silly as a photo or moment of bravado and a loss of balance has ended the life of a young lady and will affect her family and relatives for many, many years.

Strange to mourn like that in my opinion. Somewhat like the frenzy after Princess Diana died in the UK, but even that "grief" has waned through the years. It's almost like some people want to grieve for others rather than think about the vapidity of their own lives.
Better to honour the living in any case.

He is the Western manifestation of empty vacuous pop music. A hair oriented culture where hair and "looks" are desired over any kind of tangible talent
Interesting comment--hmm, Japan doesn't have any vacous pop music, does it?

Good news for me and I think on an upcoming trip I will base myself in Yokohama instead of Tokyo. The less smoke the better.
Where I live now smoking is banned in all restaurants, all pubs and even in casinos...and no, the world did not end.

I bet the rail lines don't complain when these densha otaku buy tickets, attend museums and go on excursions. Then they are welcomed.
I am sure they are becoming more "brazen and selfish", but the real problem is the entire world is doing the exact same.

It's certainly news to me that "For gaijin, being nude in front of the same sex is embarrassing, especially for men."
This guy has a few things to work out on body image. He must not have spent much time in a swimming pool change room, or a (gasp!) nude beach.
The way I figure it, if someone wants to look at me, let them. Why would I worry about that?

The Olympics is all about money, and getting it via TV and advertising. I guess more people would rather watch a dancer prance around with a ribbon that some burly shotputter throwing things across a field. Still does not make it a "sport".
