What on earth are 14/15-year-olds doing out at a quarter to 3 in the morning?

"...holding 2 big knives..." doesn't suggest that he was holding one in either hand when entering the house. he could've been a) holding both in one hand; or b) had one or both in a pocket or bag.

Firefly Dreams is a lovely film! Starfish Hotel takes more brainpower than I have on any given day, but is certainly worth a watch.

How odd, your reactions! I always knew Charisma Man was by a man; always assumed that the "real" CM, i.e. the spindly, pathetic little fella, wasn't how anyone saw him, just how he actually was; thought Western Woman is being mocked just as heartily as CM. Maybe I'm missing something? I am, after all, one of those embittered, sexless, western porkers...

It's a bit like asking if we should throw our ailing granny off a cliff now that she's lost all usefulness and just sits around costing us money. Granny is part of the history of the family, and the monarchy i part of the history of a country. And for the most part, present-day monarchies aren't ailing, doddery grannies. I don't think that a monarch should be actively involved in politics, or the running of a country, but I don't think we should get rid of them. That said, if Canada or Australia want to get rid of the monarchy after Queenie, I can see why they would.

Good stuff - I've been drinking this (tomato juice with lemon) for years! Make your own, it's easy. take some tomato juice (non-sodium), and pour it over ice. Add some drops of lemon juice (freshlysqueezed or from a bottle). Stir. Drink. I wouldn't buy this new product precisely for the reason that you can make it yourself. And indeed, what is the other 40%? Water I suppose.

Some thoughts: 1. Retirement age is around 60 - 65. 2. What was the driver doing during all this? Priority seats are usually at the front, and he should have stepped in before it got nasty. 3. Other people on the bus should've rallied around too. 4. Absolutely the kid should've got up, rude little bastard. 5. The woman should not have attacked him, she should've reported him to his high school. 6. it really infuriates me when schoolkids take the priority seats instead of moving to the back; when they remain sitting in the face of older people; when the block the aisles with their massive bags, amking no effort to keep them close; when they do NOT move down the aisle of a crowded bus after being told to by the driver...

Good job I teach the kids who I see doing this regularly and can tell them off/ make them give their seats up, otherwise I, too, would take an umbrella to their offensive little backsides.

I don't like it. It's lazy, and not too far from "half-breed". If you know someone's background you say it.

What are you all bitching about, with your smug "I'm a boy scout I'm always prepared" attitudes? It's healthier than buying chocolate bars and crisps from a vending machine, isn't it? If you're in a rush, nowhere near a supermarket and there's a line at the convenience store (that sells a lot of additive-pumped,empty-calorie crap), a banana is a great choice for a snack!

Because those who malign it are either snobs, or ex-teachers who were crap at teaching and just took the piss.

My question is: does the fellow do the same to his Japanese co-passangers? If not, then he's just picking on her for being a furriner - in his mind just a tourist too, and showing off his English. If he does approach all other passengers whose music bothers him in the same way, then good luck to him! At some point he will find that not everyone is as agreeable.
