How did Christmas become a romantic holiday in Japan?!

Good question. I suspect restaurants first saw the opportunity to create a "Christmas Dinner", and that evolved into bigger dinners, with gifts, and then romantic hotel packages.

Maybe some of the very old timers could explain it.

What? This article has been up for an hour and there are no double entendres yet? Someone say something about trying for a hole in one, but coming up short.

will stand in the store’s central hall until Dec 25.

..when it will be quickly disassembled and completely removed, because who you certainly can't have a Christmas tree up after Christmas. It's the law or something...

By the way, USJ has the claim to the tallest Christmas tree in Japan, I believe.

I wonder how long the lines outside McDo will be?

It depends on how many people they hire to stand in them.

More overpriced useless junk. Meanwhile, 100 yen store across Japan are packed, and jeans are available for 880 yen a pair. The people making expensive "design boutique" products are likely to find themselves with a decreasing customer base.

    Seems like a no-brainer. Yes.

Perhaps some of the 148 who (to date) have voted no could explain their opinion.

791 grams of beef, I could probably eat. It'd be more difficult if there was cheese on each patty, but people have done it before. The Heart Attack Grill has 2 pound cheeseburgers that people completely eat.

The text mentions AC/DC, Britney Spears, the Bee Gees, Marilyn Manson and Barney as being played at Gitmo, but none of those singers was quoted or mentioned as being outraged. Since the headline read, "U.S. bands blast use of their music in Gitmo interrogations" perhaps the text could show a specific band which sold recorded music and is now unhappy that their music is being played at Gitmo.

The headline makes claims not supported by the text. No one is quoted nor mentioned as saying they "blast the use of their music."

Moderator: Expressing outrage is the same thing as blasting, we think.

I believe deals can be struck by talking to the managers of large 4 and 5 star hotels, if you plan on staying for several months. I knew of someone living in one of the best hotels in Osaka, for like $100 a night because they had worked out a deal.
