Go after the bosozoku before they graduate and get cars to drift in. They are all the same pile of shart, just aged differently.

I can just imagine mixing baby smell with the nic-infused reek of a political Ojisan burning the midnight oil during election time. Mmmmmm, what a wonderful olfactory image.

It LEAD to calls people. Obviously they were not heeded or else he would be sitting on death row. This guy got off light by Japanese standards. By which I mean this crime, I believe, had a financial end to it. They don't like it when you mess with business.

Fear can lead to a lot of poor decisions. If the "mother" has any conscience at all, I wish her luck in dealing with it.

I used to put garbage (paper, erasers, etc.) on the heads of sleeping students. I would gently build a small pyre of gomi on their heads to the delight of the rest of the class. Then I would slam my hand on the desk and watch them jump. It was delightful. Was this wrong? Would I not have loved to defend my actions to some parent? I wished they'd brought it.

Props to Mr Kotter. Wish I could donate a couple of bucks to make it up. I hope he has the support of his fellow teachers on this one.

"The woman told police she heard a man below asking someone to call an ambulance, and when she looked down from her balcony, she saw the man covered in blood on his balcony."

I want to know if this woman actually called for the ambulance. Any wagers? I can just imagine...

    (Screams of torturous murder)

Neighbour: Eh? Doshiyo? Tabun nanimo kikimasendeshita.

Dying Man: Help! Help! Help! Call me a frigging ambulance... I AM DYING!!!

    (Sound of hair dryer)

Neighbour: Kyo no lunchi nani ga taberu kana?

(Gurgles of a suppurating wound fade into the morning mist)

Ban cars altogether. Whoever took a 6-7 minute drive above should get off their lazy ass and ride a bike to work. Very little chance of killing a kid when you hit them with your bike. Drop the kuruma slave mentality people. Get off yer asses and onto a bike.

I can just imagine Mr Tamura coming home that evening after being released from the pen.

    Tamura: Tadaima, I'm home.

Wife and Daughter: Oh father it is so good to see you.

Tamura: AyumiChan, aren't you a fan of the Miniskirt Police? Well, I actually met Ms. Hachisuka today on the train.

Wife and Daughter: Eeeeeeee! Ii na. Tell us all about it father. You are such a great man.

Tamura: um, yes well, it all happened when...

Hmmmm, she said "it was kind of kind of light and playful – like this press event.” Way to compare your nuptials to a press event. Actually, that would be more fitting than comparing it to an actual wedding I'm sure. Certainly more accurate. Uhm... congratulations on your temporarily increased air time.

I used to use the "Cooking Water" from the refilling station of the local Kansai Super because I felt the tap water smelled and tasted funny (though the water in the area was considered higher quality than most areas in Kansai). When I mentioned this to a colleague she almost fainted. Does anyone know why she may have reacted in this manner? I just chalked it up to the regular Japanese paranoia when it comes to doing something outside of their stringent parameters, but maybe I was wrong. What is it that they do to this water that makes it better than tap water for cooking, but worse than tap water for drinking? Any ideas?

People in Japan have to learn that bikers are NOT supposed to be following the rules of pedestrians. They should be following the rules of cars. They are mechanized and therefore should be doing exactly the same as cars where they are allowed to be. When police fail to clamp down on these infractions (which include double riding, riding on sideWALKS, riding DRUNK as Fck and a slew of others) they create an environment where these accidents will happen. It really is tragic that this girl died. But with Smithy, I'm more surprised that this isn't on the news as often as random stabbers, arsonists and chikans. I guess that is a good thing, except that it will continue business as usual and the lawlessness of bike riders will keep on keeping on.
