J-dramas or K-dramas. They both suck, but as one poster pointed out, they are not protesting against the TV companies that have decided to air the shows and stop producing J-dramas, they are protesting against Koreans living in Japan. I hope that the J-media exposes this truth in their coverage. But they won't because it is okay to be a nationalist (not a racist, they are the same race) in Japan (and Korea too).

They should publish an annual list eulogizing kids that have died at the hands of their parents/guardians and place their mug shots along with the stories. People need to wake up and see that while yes this does happen in other countries, the frequency with which it happens in Japan is alarming.

DentShop... This woman beating to death her 4-year-old son versus an enraged person wanting to beat her? Don't understand why you can't see which one is worse. Yowzers!

In poor taste. Can't wait to see how they spin this. It'll be like a Japanese version of The Fugitive, only he really is the killer (no one-armed man) and no cops were really chasing him down (she was only a gaijin, after all). Hope he rots.

A friend of a friend went to Australia. He had a minor criminal record. When he got off the plane, the custom's guy said "You aware that you have a criminal record?". Friend of a friend said "Sure, but I didn't know you still needed one to get in?" Needless to say, the little joke didn't go sit well with customs and they sent him all the way up over again. If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?

Pretty interesting that the passenger is the only one that will really get into any trouble here. What I want to know is how they were caught for the hit-and-run? Did the police track them down? Did the driver fess up? Or was it the passenger? That WOULD be interesting if the passenger let the cops know and then gets a heavier punishment (or the only punishment as the driver was merely a boy at 19 years of age) in this case.

Just about anything the US champions is done so for the US' interests alone. As a Canadian, I have witnessed the way they played around with NAFTA. When something doesn't go their way (ie. softwood lumber) they just refuse to follow protocols and start a trade war of words (while continuing to close their eyes to protocols). These days, Canada's manufacturing jobs, like their medical brain trusts, are flying south faster than the geese. I would think twice about joining the TPP, as again, anything championed by the US is done so in their best interest. Not the best interests of all involved.

Wow, she says the word "nice" a lot. Funny that she never really defines what she considers a "nice" or "kind" act. Does this mean people will hold the door open for you, or slam it in your face? It is a good thing that Japan has a lot of automatic doors. Is it "nice" that Japanese people ride around in black vans blaring anti-gaijin dribble? Or is it just "nice" to ignore them and let them spout their hatred? I would really like to know what she defines as "nice", because she really does not say it in the article. Nor does she explain why she combines "nice" and "trustworthy". I can tell you that in many cultures the most untrustworthy people will come off as nice. It certainly is tragic that there are so many people in the world who do not act kindly for altruistic reasons. That should certainly not come as a surprise.

F-that bicultural. I'm with you JapanGal. I guess I just drink it quickly enough for it to stay tasty. No sense letting it linger while the head settles. Frankly I would scream "Highway robbery!" is some yahoo tried to serve me one of those. No more than a thumb width for me. Even then I pull out the whistle.

I had some friendly neighbours and some not so friendly neighbours in my time in Japan, but mostly friendly. What I don't understand, is that if there is a problem, why not get all of the friendly neighbours together and go do some J-style group ijime on the freaks? Luckily, I never had any problems with the folks I lived with, with the exception of some arse yelling "I will kill you" from his window while me and some friends were having a BBQ outside. It was a little before midnight, so I took the hint and we packed it up. Still, a friendly "Can you keep it down" would have been nice. I hope he wouldn't have come at me with an axe, not for the few occasions when we were loud. I imagine the carpenter here had more of a problem with the noisy clown. If it happened only once, and he snapped like this, then that is an issue. But that doesn't appear to be the case. Go Hatchet Man!

"They received warnings but not enough information or time to decide their next step."
Now, let's see. How many Japanese does it take to decide a next step? Hmmmm, let's gather a committee to determine an accurate way to phrase the question which will be sent to one of many departments of redundancy departments so we can consider further action at a later date.

I love these lines: "Immediately after the vote on Tuesday, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice said the “the courageous people of Syria can now clearly see who on this council supports their yearning for liberty and human rights—and who does not.”
“Those who oppose this resolution and give cover to a brutal regime will have to answer to the Syrian people—and, indeed, to people across the region who are pursuing the same universal aspirations,” she said."
I'm sure the Palestinians agree 100%
