Michael J. Morris's past comments

I wonder how many of you who keep saying that Japan will survive another summer of record heat and humidity, realize that last summer there were still more than 20 nuclear power plants operating. This summer the number will be zero. This will definitely be a much more difficult summer than last. As for the comments about Japanese people being afraid, is it any different from the people in Europe or North America who fear for their jobs on a daily basis. And as for the US without universal healthcare, once you lose your job, you are one illness away from bankruptcy, or death!

The only thing I find interesting are all the posters saying we have to practice "setsuden". But I wonder would the US or European countries give up their electricity or A/C in a siliar situation? I think not!

Looking at the state of the Canadian navy, they could take over the ship and put it into commission to patrol the arctic from all our foes!

Great Something else to raise the price of airline tickets. Do airplanes produce so much pollution? Is it comparable to the amount of pollution created by vehicles? Can airplanes be retrofitted so they don't pollute as much? Just wondering.

What does the IOC do with all this rights money they receive? Panasonic is usually the main broadcast sponsor, so you know that it is their technology that is being used and donated as part of the deal. Does the IOC pay for stadiums? No. Do they pay for security? No. Do they pay for travel expenses for athletes? Don't think so. So what they hell do they do with all this money!

I'm not too sure, but isn't that what free trade means! No tariffs! Or is that to blunt for you Mr. Blunt!

AmericanForeigner, you are too kind to call Nakai a singer! I notice they didn't write the usual term idiot savant, as it would too closely describe Mr. Nakai, the idiot part anyway!

WTF! I am so outraged by this, I really can't think what would be a just punishment. But the quote from the old testament comes to mind, "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth". Lets see this inhumane monster loose the sight in one of his eyes and see how he feels!

As much as I am against this stupid concert, you'll notice it is on March 10th. On March 11th NHK will have nothing but solemn news, and perhaps lots of "gambarre Nippon" messages.

The thing I worry about is that some people, given the chance, will vote for the LDP thinking that a change will be better than what they have now. But it won't! They don't have the leaders needed to do anything! All they believe in is helping their corporate friends, and enriching themselves. They are not a party for the people, but much like the Republicans in the US, for the rich and the multinational corporations!

I like Darvish, and hope he does well with the Rangers, but that is a lot of money for a rather unproven talent. I think the posting fee system is a rip off, and MLB is going to demand a change soon. When you combine the two, the posting and the contract, he is almost at 18 million a season, that is up there with some of the best pitchers in the majors, but he has never thrown a pitch yet.

Good! It's about time we got rid of all these so called parties that consist of one or two members. I always have to laugh whenever there is some type of controversial bill or decision and NHK interviews the 10 or so party presidents, who have no members and hardly any supporters, like we really care what they think. One man, one vote and make them equal. Don't let farmers in bf inaka keep voting for the LDP and have a disproportionate amount of power.

This is pure blackmail by TEPCO. They are dying to re-open the existing nuclear plants, but with such opposition to the idea by the general public, the only way they can get back to using these power plants is to threaten huge rate increases, so that the gov't and the people will give up and allow them to restart the plants. This is a very dangerous company and should be nationalized by the gov't.

If this guy worked for Yoshinoya, would it be in the news? I don't think so! This is an easy way to beat up on TEPCO, not like I am a fan or anything, but I'm just saying.

I'm not an economist, or even pretend to be one, and while I understand the situation is dire in Japan, with its amount of debt etc., how the US with an even bigger amount of debt, and with unemployment and their current economic situation be above all of this amazes me. I keep hearing that most of Japan's debt is held by it's own people where as US debt is held by the Chinese, Saudis and Japan. That must make a huge difference doesn't it?

We all knew this was going to happen. Take a few months off, to show how sorry you are for your past indiscretions, and then come back with a heartfelt apology, and all is forgiven. Even though this is his second offense! I think that is why some of the shows he was the star of have kept going , just waiting for him to return. A bit of a joke if you asked me.

plastic monkey, viewers were able to use the interactive function on their TV to see exactly the lineup and the performing times. all you had to do was push the red button on your TV remote and all the info popped up. That way allowing people to know exactly what time to switch over from whatever other crap they happened to be watching at that time. New Years Eve in Japan equals rotten TV in my opinion.

The family watched a large part of Kohaku, and I think the ratings will be higher than the previous years. I feel people felt it was patriotic or something to try and return to their roots, which involved watching the song contest.

Already ordered mine, will be here on the 1st of March! There will be huge demand for this car, since it is compact, and the price is very reasonable. Also with the gov't tax breaks, it will make it more enticing to buy now.

Considering my mutual fund stocks are down more than 50% purchase value, with no expectation of them recovering anytime soon, I would have to say, no, I am not financially better off this year compared to last.
