NoriPfan: Interesting thought. It would certainly save women a lot of hassle! The woman in this case is very selfish & disturbed and obviously not financially or emotionally ready for a baby. Desperation is no excuse. There are hundreds of other ways that she could have handled her problems. (Maybe her tubes should be tied and the guy castrated.) Plus, I don't believe in meeting people on internet dating sites. Often, as in this case, you get two freaks finding each other. Scary.

I would like to hear a native Japanese opinion on this? My husband is Japanese and he seemed to be horrified and disgusted.
My husband is Japanese too, and frankly even though he's downright sick to his stomach and disgusted, he told me Child/Rape/Abuse crimes are really common in Japanese society, he blames the judicial system for its lack of children protection laws. According to him, this isn't something new. Child Abusers/Rapists are protected in Japan. The Children are not.

This type of behavior is not specific to just "japan".
No, but the outcome is: the woman will get custody of her child, do little or no prison time and the man will maybe serve a little time. There is no national register of convicted sex offenders in Japan. Also, merely possessing child porn is still legal in Japan. That is specific to Japan.

This type of behavior is not specific to just "japan". A lot of you guys are really small minded. Unfortunatly this type happens worldwide. I think it's perpetuated by the fact that there are a higher number of men that are into child porn. These two are sick though. Please hang both of them.
And you are certainly RIGHT!! These unspeakables don't happen ONLY in Japan. About men/women statistics, I still keep my personal opinion that when it comes to this kind of crime, women are WORSE! Have you seen "The Flock"? It makes your skin crawls.. :(
