Where was the mom and what was she doing while all this was going on? Need a clearer picture. Either way, it's a terrible tragedy and RIP to the lost child and hopefully the other recovers.

I've tried fugu several times and don't know what people see in it. Must be the thrill of coming close(?) to being poisoned. The fish has no real flavor.

In Russia, it's out with the old and in with the new-old. Forward they go - into the past.

To borrow from a famous wascally cartoon character, what a maroon! He should have been suspended - by his belt for a while, you know, just to show the unpredictability of life.

To paraphrase the theme song from 'Baretta,' don't do the crime if your mother's gonna whine about the cops not getting time for putting two in your behind.

What baloney! Someone needs to explain the difference between 'working your job faithfully' and merit-based promotion to the guy in the story . Two entirely different things. Many people work hard or may even work long hours but are almost completely useless. I work with a few people just like that. He may be one of them.

I thought about starting a place similar to this but without the cheesy fantasy stuff and girly men. Politeness would be a necessity but not so much more than in normal businesses and definitely no escorting of women to the bathroom. Probably wouldn't survive because women in this country seem to think life should be like Disneyland and I prefer to think of life as being more like Fujikyu Highland.

Jforce, I agree about everything except the part about the main event. That match was the best of the afternoon. Henderson is pretty gifted and Edgar showed he could dish with anyone. The crowd was applauding throughout the match.

Living with the family into your middle age is a part of the culture here for unmarrieds. This guy blew his top because he didn't like his father barging in unannounced. Is it wrong to just put a lock on the door? Even something as simple as a door stopper could have prevented this. In reality, there's probably more to it than what's been said. This was more than likely the culmination of all of his frustrations coming out at once. Hope the father recovers fully and the son gets help during his (likely) incarceration.

Japan is cold, not cool. It's amazing that they need TV shows and ad campaigns to try to affirm (in their own minds) these things! There are many cool things to do here but it can get expensive. If I were giving advice to someone about coming to Asia however, I would recommend Thailand or even Vietnam. Those places are cheaper, the weather is better and the people are friendlier.

These politicians never learn, do they? Truth is, a large section of the population probably agrees with them despite loads of evidence to the contrary. The actual numbers can be put to debate but the fact of the matter is there is no doubt this event took place and that it was an exceptionally heinous war crime.

Before I got here, I had already been exposed to many of the ways people try to isolate you or put pressure on you to do something to which you are opposed. Many people here just suffer in silence. I can't speak for anyone but myself. However, if my boss calls me anytime after working hours, he/she can bet on hearing an answering machine's recording of my voice and not the real thing. I am not an employee 24/7 like many Japanese seem to be. I remember how shocked the people in my admin department were when they realized that I screened all my calls after work during the week. You bet! On weekends, my phone is usually OFF. I'm not a woman so I can't really speak for B-san but she did the right thing afterwards. As for the person who was never invited to go out, she should have just ignored them and let them be. I have worked in close proximity with people who absolutely refused to speak to me. It wasn't a whole department as in her case but still, I made it a point to not let them ruin my experience and I also found ways to let them have a little of it back. After transferring, I would have made it a point to go back and genuinely befriend the new employee that they were now giving the same treatment. I would never tolerate what D-san went through, especially when people are putting flies in my cup. That crosses the line and it seems the boss is condoning it all. That would be my cue to stand up in front of everyone and start shouting or look for a new job and give them all the finger (in stereo) on my way out the door.
