This is what Wal-Mart counts on when it clips the paychecks of hundreds of thousands of employees -- gaining many millions for themselves in the process.

See here the people shorted would have a case. Every single one of them, and in this instance, they could unite and do a class-action lawsuit. All they would have to show, was that their paychecks were shorted, that they were not compensated for the hours they worked. Maybe you should have presented a different example to make your case.

You haven't presented a solution to that problem other than "I'm OK with it because evil Wal-Mart must burn in hell.

Thats pretty much how I've read yabits take on wal-mart as well. Good post Superlib.

Stats like that seem impossible to really prove.

Not that hard to prove. Look at the total number of employees, see how many are male, and how many are female. See how many males and females have been employed by wal mart for more then 5 years, 10 years, 15 years, 20 years. The further out you go, the more the number skews towards women. Meaning more women are employed by wal-mart, for longer periods of time, indicating that excepting management posistion which are almost entirely dominated by men, most employees are women, and they make more then the men.

Hope they're shown up for the scum they so obviously are.

I actually think Wal-Mart is a pretty good company. They treat their employees right. Contrast this with Amazon for example, theres a company that could use some people scrutinizing their business practices.

I believe it says militias have the right to bear arms.

The Supreme court disagreed with your interpretation.

The crime rates could have dropped for any number of reasons.

Ok, and the opposite could be true. There could be a direct correlation. You simply don't know.

Guns make it easier to kill people and the benefit of self-defense doesn't seem very credible to me. If the tweaked out junkies of America know that everyone is packing they just have to make sure they draw first.

Whats that about correlation and causation? You could be right, but then you could be wrong. Why not admit that the one issue may have nothing to do with the other?

I like Huntsman as a person. I've met him several times, even had dinner with him once. Hes a good guy. Having said that, I disagree strongly with his politics. Hes essentially another Bush. A big government Republican, at the same time, he's generally a social conservative. He supported cap and tax, he supported the porkulus bill, actually thought that waste of money should have been bigger. He was in favor of a type of Obamacare system. You can understand why the media would like him. You can also understand why most conservatives don't want to get anywhere near him.

the fact that women employees of Wal-Mart make $1.25 per hour less than their male counterparts, on average.

Interesting figure. Not sure how you arrived at it. I can give you another one right back, this one is actually accurate though. If you set aside the management, women make more then men at wal-mart. The reason for this is simply that women tend to make up a bit more then half of the workforce there, and they tend to stay in those jobs for longer periods of time, meaning they get more raises. The primary difference here is that women aren't the managers at wal-mart. Something the company has said it is addressing.

It's a fast- paced environment that some of the work that men do requires strength that few women can do on daily basis. If women wants to be paid the same, let them start lifting heavy inventory.

Believe it or not, thats not really the case. Go in to a local wal-mart, and almost without exception, the majority of employees will be women. Women work the gardening section, they work housewares and electronic. They work everywhere.

It's rather amazing that, in going against 1.6 million Americans

Sorry yabits, but this too is nonsense. 1.6 million is the total number of women working for, or who have worked for wal-mart. Trying to get them all as class action victims, does not mean that all of them were discriminated against. Superlib is right on this.

What rights would you be defending, and from whom? And you are going to defend them with guns? You are going to shoot someone in defense of your rights? Fascinating, please elaborate.

Isn't that obvious? Pro-gun should make it more then obvious what right are being defended. As for defending those rights with guns, lets hope it never comes to that. So long as others aren't pointing guns at the 'pro-gun' people, in their desperate attempt to take those individuals guns away, theres no reason why it should.

Rather, pro-gun is a polite term used to refer to people who live in fear, either of their own countrymen or of their government, and fantasize that having lots of guns around makes them safer.

Wow, progun means living in fear eh? Thought it meant defending the rights and liberties handed down by our founding fathers. Heh, was I ever wrong...

You do realize that this is going to affect you some day, don't you?

Exactly my point. The Dems do nothing plan so that Medicare runs out of cash will truly effect me. The Republicans efforts to save medicare will also effect me, but will mean it will be there when I'm ready to retire. Which do I support? The one that requires bankruptcy, or the one that keeps the program solvent, if managed differently? Think thats obvious, and it shouldn't be too hard to figure out which is better. Besides, why is it that privatization is always somehow bad? From my perspective, its almost always a good thing.

The facts are simple. Walmart has a long history of anti-union behavior,

Good for them. I don't blame them, however while you may say its anti-union behavior, they haven't broken any laws. If their employees truly wanted to unionize, Wal-Mart couldn't stop them.

    extremely low wages for employees,

If you don't like your wage, look for another job.

    harsh working restrictions

Huh? I worked for Wal-Mart when I was a kid. Was a good job, I never noticed anything bad about the work conditions.

inequities for women and other behaviors that have called them into broad question with labor and rights organizations.

This is nonsense. While there have been a few examples, those have been aggressively dealt with by Wal-Mart. The company is in the business of making money, not discriminating against people for some reason. People who feel discriminated against aren't returning customers.

Really Lieberman? Who are you calling a fruitcake?

    If the shoe fits...

Vote with your wallets. Boycott Walmart and anything related to Walmart.

I am pleased to patronize Wal-mart and enjoy their low prices. Most people I know feel the same way. Loons on the other hand seem to think Wal-Mart is evil, and yet oddly have no problem with the worlds largest employer... The US government. How odd is that?

They seem to know that they want to gut Medicare. Hopefully, the electorate isn't going to let that happen.

lol, depends on your definition of gut. For example, if you mean, make it so it lasts beyond 2020, then you would be correct. Contrast this with the Dem plan to do nothing, which is completely unsustainable, and which allows Medicare to really be gutted as it runs out of money very soon... Yeah. That sounds about right. Dems pushing hyperbole, hypocrisy, and hate, while Republicans push responsibility, feasibility, and workable sustainable solutions.

However, I feel that the right to feel safe in their own country should supersede that right to bear arms.

Gotcha. And do you feel that the right to not have to listen to idiots, should supersede their right to freedom of speech? I mean, as long as you're saying we shouldn't this, then you might as well question the rest of the rights guaranteed by the constitution. How about religion, thats a popular one, under consistent assault these days...

What Obama does well is balance realpolitik and ideals. At the end of the day that's what an effective American president has to do.

You are joking right? I mean, anyone who uses the word effective, in a sentence with Obama has to be. The man is the worst, most incompetent President in US History. One of the weakest as well. Heh, theres a reason why Russias President would like to see Obama re-elected, and its not because of his sparkling personality.

An effective American president has to navigate through that minefield.

Obamas response is to mismanage, waffle, dither, and then go with what Bush decided, wherever possible. Thats not a leader. When the Dems had control of congress, the biggest Dem complaint, that the President wasn't leading. Republicans are pushing Obama in areas he doesn't want to be pushed. Talking about the debt-ceiling, bringing up the health care issue, entitlements, and the massive overspending in Washington. That is leading, something Obama has failed miserably in doing.

Go ahead, keep trying to preach that Obama is an effective leader. Maybe you can fool a few people into believing you. The man is going to need all the help he can get, against whoever the Republicans choose. And thats reality.

'Rigorous', 'improved', 'safe'. Hollow rhetoric that serves only to deepened the mistrust. 'Authorities' should allow? Hey, you arrogant mouthpiece, ASK The People, YOUR boss.

Hmm, tell ya what. Lets have em shut down all the nuclear power plants in Japan. Of course we'll see massive blackouts, but you seem ok with that. I wonder how long it will be before 'their boss' decides they would prefer to have power, even nuclear power. You alarmism not withstanding. You obviously use a computer. Why not shut it off, and go back to nature?

Willy, hunny, 'get Real?'. It's you who need a pint of that juice. As I told you before, the data you read from, espouse to know is from BEFORE this catastrophe.Bring your data up a more contemporary time frame.

About what should he get real? The fact that alt energy is presently no more then a pipe dream, or the the reality that Japan is in desperate need of power. Despite the panic and fear , Its more the a little unlikely that there will be another 9.0 earthquake followed by a tsunami.

These girls bring happiness and light heartedness to many, better than so much of the trashy, dark, negative stuff that passes for entertainment these days.

Please understand this very simple fact. The girls may be singing the songs, but they are nothing more then props, showpieces for the people putting it on. They aren't the ones making the money. The producers/handlers/songwriters are the ones getting the cash.

Its amazing how you can forget things. I remember once, I walked out of my house, forgetting my keys (fortunately I hadn't locked the door) realizing this, I went back into the house to get em. The moment I went back into my house, I realized, I couldn't remember why I had come back in. I knew it was important, but simply couldn't remember. Walked out again before realizing I had forgotten my keys. Yeah, I felt really stupid. Point being, people forget things all the time. Admittedly that bag was a particularly bad thing to forget. But still, it happens. What is not acceptable, was the lack of reporting by the police on the subject. I don't care how foolish it makes you seem, that is something that by law they are required to report.

Don't be a fool - it might be fun for a few weeks or months, then when it turns sour you'll still be unhappily married and you'll have an awkward situation at work. Flirting is fun, keep it that way.

Totally agree. Either divorce your husband, or keep it together. You really don't want to go the affair route. As cleo said, it may be fun for awhile, but it almost always ends up making your situation much worse.

Conservatives always want less government...except where they want more!

This is different from Libs how precisely? Libs are always wanting more government involvement, except for law enforcement issues.

It should be noted though that Rush Limbaugh wanted Weiner to remain. He has his reasons. I guess they are the same as Iwitness's.

Rush is a pretty smart guy. I suspect he had several reasons for thinking this. First, obviously, it hurts the Dems having him in there. Rather like the Republicans with Craig a few years ago. Another reason might be that, despite the mans obvious perversion, which he made apparent, you have to wonder whether what he did is any worse then certain others such as Maxine Waters and Charlie Rangel.

Oh, I am sure you have never lied to protect your privacy! I am sure you never asked anyone to hide anything for you! Those of us who have a life have done so.

Sorry, but in a public official, this is completely unacceptable. Its hugely different when you, a private citizen lie to protect What he did wasn't all that big a deal, but when he started lying to the media, lying to everyone, thats when he was done.

I don't know why he resigned. If his constituents didn't want him anymore they could vote him out of office.

The Dems were talking about sanctioning him. Specifically removing him from all his committee assignments, basically, all he would be able to do, is show up and vote on issues. No negotiations, no committees, no nothing.

    Why shouldn't they?

Allow me to restate the name of the organization being discussed here. Its called the National Organization for Women.

Although their silence doesn't really come as a surprise to anyone. Particularly after the recent Governors race in California. It would be more accurate to refer to them as the NOLW. That is, the National Organization for Liberal Women. I mean, since they were fine with seeing how calling women derogatory names seems perfectly acceptable to them, provided of course those calling them names are libs, and those being impugned are conservative or at least have an r by their name. For that matter the NAACP should change its name too, as it would likewise be more accurate to refer to themselves as NAALCP. Since conservative blacks typically are called Uncle Toms.
