I'm thinking they need another ship to act as a screen, and to use the terrorists own tactics against them.

So, wreck in international waters. Salvage belongs to whoever finds it.

You don't win a war by giving the enemy a safe place to run to. Pakistan seems perfectly willing to tolerate these people among them. As long as they are willing to shelter them, they should expect attacks.

People who say this, are demonstrating an absolute lack of understanding of business and reality. There are a lot of causes to whats occurring today. And Greed, while obviously a motivating factor in all human endeavor, isn't so much to blame here. As the previous poster mentioned, the real-estate bubble is the root of the cause. Its like a domino effect here. Loan companies giving risky and untenable loans to people who simply couldn't afford to pay them. Companies investing in that market, who seeing it collapse, were unable to get out of the way. Banks that invested in those companies, losing huge chunks of their capital as those investments were written off. And finally people who are hesitant to do business with banks without huge capital reserves, leading to banks suspending normal business practices, and not lending at all.
When you get right down to it, this is not about greed. This is about banks who shouldn't have lent money under those circumstances, now not being willing to lend under others. This is about, once you've put your hand into the fire, you're a bit hesitant to put it in again. That, more then anything is what is causing the mess worldwide.
The quickest way to recovery however is not spending more. Not an 800 plus billion dollar so-called stimulus package. But rather deep tax cuts. Consider the past. Attempts at spending our way out. Failed in the 30s, failed in the 90s. Cutting taxes, worked in the 50s, 80s, and worked in the 90s. Some combination of spending and tax relief would be ideal, but with Democrats in control in Washington, don't look for much help from them.

As much as I empathize and desire the same thing, until the sentence is finalized, the appeals run their course, they shouldn't be executed. I do think there should be a time limit on appeals, particularly in the US. This allowing people 20-30 years on Death Row is ludicrous. Allowing them retrial after retrial is as well. I think there should be a hard cap of 2 years. 2 years after the trial, to get all the appeals in, for the judges to go through them, etc then execution for their crimes.

JNO, means convicted felon. Murderer, rapist etc. She doesn't mean someone who is just in the US illegally. Have to have done something bad while there.

So... what does the international laws of salvage say on the subject? Finders Keepers eh. Damn straight. You want it, go fund and support the expedition yourself. Stupid Spain, stupid Peru.

Glad to see that the wait is being reduced. 2 years after the sentence is finalized is more then enough time. 8 years, or in that one case, 15 years is more then excessive.

I think Obama and the US should apologize. We should apologize for being so nice. For doing business with tyrants and dictators. For trying to help people achieve freedom, rather then just terrorize them. Yes the US has a lot to apologize for.

I'm not following what you're saying here. You think that because a girl attends a Girls school, and doesn't experience dating/sex etc until she is in college, that its ok for underage girls to experience them? You want older guys to be able to go after underage girls? And what damage are you talking about? Being sheltered from the bad things guys do to girls? Thinking that sex should be between married couples?

I cannot. I cannot understand this at all. This kind of sick behavior, that justifies killing your children. To me, there is no justification for this.

Think it would be great if they finally got around to instituting statutory rape laws to prevent this kind of crap from happening.

I'm very surprised by this. That the BBC would actually refuse to air the Hamas propaganda piece rather surprises me. Especially considering the slant of their coverage during the war.

No, they don't believe in the death penalty there. You could rape, torture, and mutilate hundreds of people, and then just serve a few years in jail. Honestly, if you're going to commit a crime, thats the place to do it.
That said, if anyone deserves the death penalty, its this guy.

This kind of stuff makes me sick. I think what needs to happen, is a tailhook scandal. Thats what forced the US military to change. Public charges, and expulsion for being involved, regardless of rank or duration of service. This needs to happen here too. There should be a zero tolerance policy for this kind of behavior, and the people up top need to make it clear that this behavior won't be tolerated from anyone!
