The solution is a simple compromise. Right of return is denied and all Jews living in occupied territories are forced to return to the 1967 borders, the same way the "Ost" Germans were required to leave their ancestral homes in Eastern Europe for Germany proper.

Even simpler solution. Israel keeps East Jerusalem, and the most populated portions of the West Bank, along with the Golan Heights. The allow the Pals to have the remainder of the West Bank for their to be formed country. If they don't like it, tough. Thats whats on the table. Thats the only thing thats going to be on the table. Any attempts to get more land out of Israel is simply a non starter. No point in even suggesting or bringing it up.

America does not need this corporate suit as president.

lol, no it needs a waffling, incompetent instead right? Politicians are the ones who created the mess we have now. Would be nice to have a man who actually knows how to fix problems going into the White House. But then, 98% of the country would make a better President then our current one, and having someone who actually knows how the world works, as opposed to a man who has never worked a real job in his life would be a huge step up.

Insisting on the 67 borders, and a right of return, is idiotic. You might as well insist that the US return Arizona to Mexico, or that Japan renounce any claim to Okinawa. That is essentially what they are demanding of Israel. Bringing this up, shows you have absolutely no interest in negotiating. As I said on the other threat, the Pals an Obama might as well demand that every male Jew commit suicide and all the females act as prostitutes for them. It would be as likely to happen.

Its not just the "Pals" who are saying it; the whole world is saying it. Its also international law saying it.

The Pals could demand that every male Jew commit suicide, and that every female jew serve as their personal prostitute. And why not, those things are as likely to happen as Israel giving us East Jerusalem. In other words, its not, and never will happen. Even bringing it up, or the so called right of return shows you are not even interested in a serious discussion.

To bring things closer to home. It would be like demanding that Okinawa be returned to its original owners and Japan giving up all claim to it. This is simply not going to happen.

The issues that will have to be resolved as part of any two-state solution. Israel captured the eastern half of Jerusalem during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. The international community views east Jerusalem as occupied territory and the potential capital of any future Palestinian state. Jerusalem is not only of political, religious, and emotional significance to Palestinians. It's the cultural and economic capital of any future state of Palestine. To carve out east Jerusalem from the rest of Palestine would be to deprive of it the geographic area which traditionally has been the heart of the Palestinian economy. This is why Israel stance will not change.

East Jerusalem has not, and never will be on the table. Any idea that includes any part of Jerusalem in a future Pal state, is a non starter. Not only that, but much of the West Bank is in a similar situation, with hundreds of thousands of Israelis living there. The Pals can say it as often as they like, it will not change the reality, that they will never have a state so long as they insist on including land that will never be given to them.

Netanyahu should watch the first Madagascar movie. "You don't bite the hand."

Obama should consider, if you treat your friends like enemies, and your enemies like friends, pretty soon, you wind up friendless and alone.

So basically what Obama is saying is, that Israel should turn over the land it captured, and annexed, in exchange for nothing more then Obamas personal guarantee that the US will make sure Israel is safe. Considering that by even bringing this up, Obama reneged on US promises, makes you wonder, why should anyone take the word of Obama? Indeed, why should Israel give up the land in the first place? What do they get out of it? Ephemeral promises of peace from groups whose sworn reason for existence is its annihilation?

Let me put it another way. Would you do business with someone who threatened you, and demanded large sums of money and large tracts of land, in exchange for their personal promise not to threaten you anymore?

Whoaaaa!! The Crimson Cornballer, driven by Max Red -- aka, Donald Trump

    Love it Yabits. Great names.

Back on topic here, Newt just cut his own throat today. Coming out in favor of Obamacare. Something a majority of Americans oppose, and a whopping 85% of Republicans are against. I didn't consider him a serious candidate before, but with this, he's not viable at all.

Bush did nothing. He let 9-11 happen and most people understand that now.

If you define 'most people' as the 3 people in your office, forced to work with you, who have grown tired of arguing with you about the subject, then perhaps you are correct. If however you define it the way the rest of us do, as the majority of people, particularly in the US, then let me say, that Truthers make up probably no more then 5% of the country.

That is the difference between our views. You claim Obama got into Harvard cause he was black when the fact is he didnt indicate race. That by itself illustrates the conservative point of view, wrong and racist to boot.

In point of fact, I don't claim that. I say that is despicable, as is this moronic and baseless assertion that GWB only got in because of his daddies money. Both are contemptible accusations and neither has a shred of evidence backing them up.

We have strayed quite far now from Gingrich's presidential ambitions, so I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you any further on this subject. Frankly, I'm one of the 3 people in your office, who has grown tired of arguing with you about it. At some point, you realize, that you are arguing with a nut, and the nut is never going to see or understand reason or rational thought. Therefore theres simply no point in arguing any further. The moment you brought up the idiotic truther idea, was when I reached that point.

With Mike Huckabee and his Arkansas Chuggabug following Rufus Roughcut (Haley Barbour) in pulling out of the Republicans' Wacky Races, it appears that Newt Dastardly has gained a slight lead over Penelope Pitstain (Palin or Bachmann -- take your pick) and the knuckle-dragging Slag Brothers (Pawlenty and Santorum).

lol. knuckle-draggin Slag Brothers. I love it.

Peace is a two-way street, my friend, and it seems Israel wants it to be a one-way street in its own direction, with its government making all the street signs and signal lights.

Sorry, Israel is to blame for a bunch of people from Syria deliberately crossing the border, and attacking their people? How what you are describing a 2 way street? If Israeli citizens crossed the border into Syria, in similar fashion, would Syria be to blame?

The author does mention that the Palestinians were marking the Nakba, the brutal displacement of 700,000 Palestinians from their lands, resulting in several million surviving refugees today.

Refugees that are treated how by the countries in which they reside? Lets be clear about this Sabi. Whats the greater crime. Not permitting them to return to lands their ancestors abandoned, or treating them like trash, and permitting them next to no rights now, in the land they now live?

That just completely ignores the fact that Jews who poured in from outside of the Mandate of Palestine were also fighting a guerilla war and burning farms and running Arab Palestinians off their land.

Wasn't just Jews attacking and running people off their land. The pals living there left rather then fight both sides, then found the new government had no intention of allowing them to return and continue the conflict. These people that are referred to as Palestinian no longer have any claim to the land. Indeed it would be more accurate to call them Lebanese, Syrian, and Jordanian, since those in fact are the countries in which they reside. They are different from those in Gaza and the West Bank who stayed.

He trading his longstanding "principles" for votes. Period. The only question that remains is whether American voters are smart enough to realize that he will start up his anti-drilling crusade by executive order the day after the general election next year whether he wins or not.

To be fair about this, Obama didn't really have any 'principles' about the environment. He was moving to expand oil drilling before the disaster in the gulf, then in a massive over-reaction, essentially banned all drilling, and refused to allow any new permits to be issues, ignoring court orders to the contrary. Now, several years later, his policies leading him to disaster, he once again reverses course. Proving himself a slick politician, and at the same time a poor leader, lacking in principles.

I don't understand why this is even an argument. America is bleeding money but outright refuses to save energy, because everyone must drive a car.

And you think the way to stem the damage, is to ramp up prices, and force everyone into alternate transportation schemes? That failed in Spain horribly. In point of fact, alternative energy costs more, hence the reason why oil is still so crucial to the economy. Let me tell you, in highly urban areas, rail lines make sense. In a country as big as the US, they simply don't.

How can anyone be upset about reducing oil when most of it isn't even from America? Can it be explained why there is such an entitlement towards foreign oil imports?

I don't think anyone is upset at the idea or thought of reducing US dependence on oil. However things are not that simple. Wind is not an economically viable choice without massive subsidies to prop it up. In addition, it requires a standard energy source on standby to carry the load. If it was cheaper, if it was economical, if you could produce the same amount of energy per kilowatt hour for the same price, I'd choose something else myself. This isn't the case however, even in Germany. Green energy is merely a feel-good approach to delude you into thinking you are somehow helping the environment by using less oil. There are tradeoffs for that approach, and thus far, the green energy approach cannot sustain itself without massive government intervention in the free market, to force the playing field to be level.

Moienir, Ronin already brought you the facts on junior getting into harvard. He never would have made it on his own, nor would he have become president either.

Ah, so you're pulling out the idea that GWB couldn't have gotten into the Ivy league school without his daddies money? Could you explain to me, how that is any less despicable then my saying BHO couldn't have gotten in except he is black? Your vile and contemptible assertions aside, both men went to, and graduated from these schools. This is not something you can achieve by leaning solely on daddies money, or depending on racial preferences. That you even pull out the idea says a great deal about you, and your own level of intelligence.

He was and always will be a failure, and he knows it. That is why he does not even show up in NYC after Obama did the job he could not do and got OBL

Your hate blinds you to the truth. I don't particularly like GWB. I don't think he was a good President at all. He betrayed the conservatives who elected him. In fact, he fits the mold of a conservative Dem perfectly. However, the fact that I thought he made a lot of mistakes during his presidency doesn't blind me to who he is, and what he achieved. One thing I admired him for, was his leadership ability, even if I didn't like where he was leading. He was a decisive, strong leader, something that Obama is not. He didn't waffle around, or dither, once he decided something, he followed through. And he has class. He has very deliberately not commented on anything Obama has said or done. Despite the enormous amount of criticism and blame heaped on him by the present administration. This is the way former Presidents always behave. Once their terms are up, they stand aside, and let the new President take the lead. Excepting only Carter, and Clinton during the final 2 years under Bush when his wife was kicking off her campaign, very nearly all the previous presidents have followed this Precedent.

The reason he did not attend, despite being invited, was simply, its Obamas time, not his.

you forgot the oil/gas industry. It has to be a level playing field for everyone, or it means nothing.

I didn't forget the oil/gas industry. The tax breaks they get are the same as just about every single other industry gets. They don't really get any special incentives. Wait, I take that back, they do get a small one. If they produce more, they make more money. Contrast this with the ethanol, solar, and windfarm industries which garner billions of dollars a year in direct and indirect subsidies from all levels of government. You want a level playing field? Taking away what the oil industry has, would mean penalizing it directly, not leveling the playing field. In addition, penalizing the oil industry would mean additional costs passed directly onto the consumer, again raising prices. This would amount to an indirect tax, and while that might make some in the government happy, it would hammer an already damaged economy even further.

Yes, of course. But a real market, not the American oligarchs. The subsidies for solar, wind etc are no where close to the ongoing never ending subsidies for the oil industry amassed over the last 80 years that no one bats an eye at.

Wow, you really don't have a clue do you. Guess you just heard the Dems blathering about ending subsidies for the oil industry, without actually doing any research about it. I don't know how it is in your country, but in the US, there really aren't any significant subsidies or tax breaks for the oil industry.

Since going cold turkey for America is unlikely as your fear of a market system foreshadows, subsidies can work if they are used with the proviso that they are not permanent and track downwards over time. The end result are jobs and a new industry that grows into the position which can stand on it's own feet as the eventual goal.

Tell that to Spain, its still trying to recover from its own idiotic foray into green energy.

Sadly, this guy will probably 'get off' on some sort of diplomatic immunity or threats by the French government on this or that.

He doesn't have diplomatic immunity. Being head of the IMF doesn't confer any special diplomatic privileges. In point of fact, this is likely to cost the French as this was their guy.
