Really depends on how you see things doesn't it. I mean these days, if you believe that the government should be there to wipe your butt, and clean up your messes from the day you're born to the day you die, then you are a moderate. If you think you should take responsibility for your own actions, as well as your success or failure in life, then you are a radical extremist.
Actually it just proves how much the debate has shifted. Anyone who says Obama is not a socialist, either has no concept of what socialism is, or is merely a partisan political hack. Theres really nothing else to it.

Corrupt, because his administration is corrupt. Incompetent because he is incompetent. Do you need me to cite examples of both or can you figure this out for yourself? Ah, perhaps you need a hand getting started. Very well, the handling by the Justice department of the Black Panthers. (Corrupt) The handling of the BP oil spill. (Incompetent) That should get you started, tons more examples where those came from.
I have to admit, this crap you you said about 'balancing the budget on the backs of the poor and elderly' bothers me. So much so that I think Republicans should start going around and saying Dems support rape of women and murder of babies. That is to say soft on crime and promoters of abortion. Amazing how you can spin stuff eh? And the great thing is, its about as accurate as what Dems are saying, and about as inflammatory as well. I really have been wondering lately why Dems get away with this crap, while Republicans are held to a 'higher' standard.

Republican budget is wrong for America... Thats because it doesn't spend an extra trillion dollars right?
Far as I'm concerned whats most wrong for America is the current President. I don't think theres ever been a more corrupt or incompetent President in American History. Congratulations Obama, you're number 1!

The one thing this post proves, is that there is someone on this forum with out a clue as to economics, history, or for that matter reality. I'm not going to get into specifics, but allow me to simply point out to a little something called the Laffer Curve. To put it simply, if you have a 0% tax, government gets no money, if you have 100% tax, then again government gets no money. You have to find a balance in order to maximize the amount of income a government can get. Reagan believed that he could lower the marginal tax rates, and that by doing so, he would increase revenues. He was correct. Some Republicans believe, that as long as they lower taxes, this will always occur. They are incorrect. Its about balance.
On the topic at hand though, I have to say I am very disappointed with this plan being passed. Sure its a start, but its only a start. A plan that balances the budget 25 years from now is not what we need. Who the hell knows if we'll even be around 25 years from now. No, what we need is one that balances in 6 to 8 years. Actually I take that back. We need one that balances today. However the shock to the US economy from going off the dole would be considerable, and so the political will to accomplish what they need to do, isn't there.
We both know the reasons for this yabits. There is a limit on supply, but no limit on demand, thus it will be seen as a supply-side problem. Why are you even bringing it up?

Really depends on what the 'oppressors' are willing to do. For example if they simply killed all the 'oppressed', that would mean no more oppression, and no more uprising right? Well, how about if they merely imprisoned the families of those involved? Killed a few of their relatives etc? No, I'm not suggesting Israel has done, or should do these things, I'm merely pointing out the fallacies in your argument. There is a reason totalitarian regimes are so stable for so long. I doubt very much that Hamas will permit these other organizations to grow the way Fatah allowed Hamas to develop. Thus I don't see any danger for Hamas from these splinter groups, except for Hamas being held accountable for their actions.

There are a few other things that really do fall into what the Federal sphere of influence should be, however I agree with you for the most part. That said, I wouldn't mind cutting the defense budget a bit, however it doesn't even come close to the amount we're spending on entitlements. If you're looking to cut something, the entitlement spending is and should be the top priority. At the very least restructuring it, and essentially privatizing it 20 years or so from now, like they're suggesting in the Ryan plan would be a good thing.

Hey, I'm fine with that, as long as we slash Medicare and SS by an equal amount. Now that I think about it, doing that would put us completely into the black, and pay off the debt entirely in about 6 years. Not a bad deal all things considered.

Hmm, GOP had control of congress for the first 6 years of a Bush Presidency, and the deficits were not good, but not really horrible either. Then in 2006 Dems were elected, and the Deficit exploded. 4 years under a Democratic congress that spent more then all the Presidents up through Clinton. So, if you consider the GOP to be 'debt-loving', what do you consider the Dems to be? Care to give an honest answer Sushi, or do you need to check with your local Dems to get the proper spin?
lol. You're either delusional, or ahem, mentally challenged. Who is it that has to check in with the unions before he makes a call? Who is it that refuses to allow any new drilling here in the US? Who is it that is soft on crime, and strongly in favor of abortion and gay marriage? lol, Republican? I guess if you compare him to Bush, they are similar in that they were both Big Government guys, though one was a social conservative, and the other is not. Despite the so called party affiliation, we haven't had a conservative in office since Reagan.

Balancing the budget is a Republican idea, deficit spending is a Democrat idea. Though this article suggests that neither party always holds true to this. However the basic core Republican ideals of limited government, and living within your means aren't the ones that have driven the country to the brink of financial collapse. That honor belongs to the 'progressives'. And unfortunately they're found in both parties. Bush was one of them as well, a big government lib, social conservative. That he wore the Republican tag doesn't change things at all.

Story neglected to mention the largest portion of the budget. Entitlement spending. Currently accounts for 54% of the budget. Thats what needs to be cut the most.

Reason I won't vote for Huckabee, not because I don't like his politics, I do. However in 2008 he came out against Romney's religion, that to me disqualified him. Wouldn't make a difference if Romney was Catholic or Buddhist to me. Bringing religion into politics like that offends me.
The difference is simple, Mormons say they are Christians, those who say they aren't have an anti-mormon agenda. The same is true for those who go around calling Jehovahs Witnesses a cult. Attack a persons politics, thats fair game. Attack a persons religion, thats crossing the line, and if you're on either the left or right, I don't care.
To be fair though I have to admit I make a bit of an exception for Islam. Its hard not to when all you hear about Muslims is how they're beheading someone who disagrees with them, or killing a woman for 'allowing' herself to be raped.

lol, reckless Republican. So funny. The most reckless Republican is a complete miser by Dem standards. Bush and the Republicans were castigated for their deficit spending. And rightly so I might add. Then along come the Dems who say, let us show ya how ya burn money! Obama makes Bush look like a Miser.
Personally I found the speech hilariously funny. Obama might have a bit more credibility if he hadn't already increased the deficit by such a huge margin. I really do wonder if anyone is buying his pathetic attempt to make himself look moderate. Really, is anyone that stupid?

I don't care who is saying it, just like I don't care if the people spouting racist slogans agree with me politically. Wrong is wrong, even if they have the right politics.

Theres a big difference between pointing out the obvious fact that Obama is incompetent and demonizing someones religion.
lol, they don't have anyone in their ranks who couldn't take on Obama. The only way the Dems will win in 2012 is if HRC is their candidate, and even she would have a tough time.
Stating a person is a mormon is fine, however that wasn't all you did. You then implied that Mormons weren't Christian. That is hate speech.

More energy is good, particularly when you consider that they've demonized nearly every single form of energy generation possible. I mean if it was up to the eco-nuts, we'd be living in caves. And I'm all for anything that reduces dependence on foreign oil, I just also realize how prohibitive the cost is, and how inefficient the sources are.
Even more unfortunate, the costs involved in this will mean more job losses in California, meaning more people leaving the state to find jobs in other places. This means lots more loons leaving the left coast. This unfortunately is going to change things up as the loons will keep voting for loony policies and people, the same policies that forced them out of their previous state...

Being from, and currently living in Arizona, I find this remark very amusing. At the same time, I really, really hope the nuts stay on the left coast rather then moving along with too many of their ilk to the 'racist' state of Arizona when more and more jobs leave the state. Its much nicer here without them.

Thats hard to imagine. I mean, if my dog ran for President, he'd be more effective and competent then the moron we have in there now. Sure as heck be a better leader. Romney is obviously smarter then my dog, which makes him about a million times better then our current President. The idea that anyone except the most partisan could look at 2 candidates, and pick the proven incompetent is ludicrous.

Not sure about Romney. I mean he was hands down the best candidate from the 2008 election, but will he be in 2012? I honestly don't know. I like the guy, and he sure as hell couldn't do a worse job then the ...person we have in there. But am gonna see who else is running before I commit to the guy who is going to be the next President.

It also says something that though he submitted a budget every year, the Dems simply threw it out and went with their own plan. Just one of those annoying little facts you neglected to mention.
Do these people really exist? I don't think I've ever met one. Most conservatives simply believe that its not the government that should be in there doing that work. Facts are stubborn things aren't they. Particularly when you go and make stuff up like this. Ayn Randian types... lol.
Really? A sham? All the energy, all the protests, and its nothing but a sham? Hmm, perhaps you'll next say that abortion is just a sham, no infants were ever really harmed, all the women delivered healthy babies, and they all lived happily ever after... I mean, you are living in fairyland right?
Most conservatives actually do care about people who are in less fortunate circumstances. Many of us give to charities, or volunteer our time. The difference between us has to do with philosophy as to what the role of government should be in our lives. You seem to think that the government should be there to wipe you butt, and clean up your mess from the day you're born, til the day you die. I think, that people need to take responsibility for themselves. And that if you can help others, you should. But then I guess I'm more in line with JFK who famously said, 'ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.' Think most libs have forgotten that in their headlong rush to shove a nanny state down everyones throats.
