Since people aren't buying into the global warming hysteria anymore, guess that means its time to bring back the ozone scare.

The sad thing about this is, that science has become so politicized that if a problem really occurs, theres no way we would really be able to tell. This politicizing of scientific theory needs to stop.

I like Ryans plan. Thing is, rollback the budget to 2006, and we would have a surplus. Throw a few changes in to account for changing situations, and its doable. Funny thing is, 2006 was when the Dems took over. Just goes to show precisely how much and how fast government grew with them in charge.

One aspect of the proposed plan, changes the corporate tax, lowering it, while removing the loopholes that let Obama's buddies at GE make 15 billion profit, without paying a nickel in taxes.

LOL! And who will the GOP put up against who real wackos term an "extremist?" Someone who is extremist AND bats**t crazy like Michele Bachmann?

Compared to Obama, she looks moderate. The trouble with trying to paint her or anyone as extremist, is one of baggage. Obama is a proven incompetent, and is so corrupt, he makes Bush's presidency look clean by comparison. Add in his extremism on so many issues, and to put it simply, unless Republicans put up some moronic racist like David Duke, they are going to win against Obama. If Dems bring in a different candidate, one without his baggage, who can make a somewhat believable claim to being moderate, depending on the Republican candidate, I'd say the Dems have a shot.

That would be a fundraising nightmare for the Dems. But it will sure delight the GOP.

She gives them their best shot to win. As for the GOP, I suspect they'd much rather go up against a proven extremist like Obama. All they have to do is point to the many examples of incompetence and corruption, with Hillary though, they would have to try to blame Obamas foreign policy on her. Something which would be difficult, though not impossible to do. However all the domestic stuff that acts like an anchor on Obama, wouldn't hurt her, and thats a huge positive. It would be a tossup in my opinion. HRC has a shot against a Republican, Obama doesn't have a prayer.

I will carefully note your prediction down, however....

Here is my prediction. If HRC resigns to run, I'd say not only she, but the Dems have a shot in 2012. If its Obama up against some nameless dog, they're done. Obama is a guaranteed loser in 2012.

I voted for Obama but I knew this was one promise he couldn't keep. And he probably did as well. Or maybe he really thought a trial on US soil was the best method before getting elected but he's probably changed his mind after seeing the full spectrum of information that he has now.

My earlier point, that this is not a left/right thing, that its not just Republicans supporting this, but many, many independents and Dems as well has been more then proven.

The best of a bad situation.

I agree with Taka. (Have to get my head examined after this.) Whole thing obviously isn't a good situation, but we are stuck with doing whats best, in a crappy situation.

By the way, Alphaape, Portugal is analogous to Colorado, Spain to California, and Ireland to New York State.

I laughed at the comparison of Spain to California. Unlike the others, that one actually fits fairly well. Not in terms of economy or size, but rather, Spain went green, and bankrupt, California is trying to green and is already bankrupt.

Four more years of this? Heck, I'm scared of the damage he can still do in the two he has left right now.

Very good point Sail. Very good point.

Nah, I'm just gonna enjoy this for a while. The only race of interest is 2016 - difficult to predict, as whether the Republican Party still exists as a united entity by that time is iffy.

lol, were you one of those proclaiming the death of the Republican party in 08 after Obama won? I remember that vividly. So many of the libs were proudly proclaiming that Republicans were dead, only to discover 2 years later, they had reinvented themselves as the party of responsibility to counter balance the irresponsible and reckless spending exhibited by the Dems.

As for your points, destroying the health care system is something the majority of American oppose, and want repealed. On foreign policy Obama is weak not because of his wars, but how he goes about prosecuting them. Waiting months before making a decision on Afghanistan, waffling back and forth before making a bad choice on Libya. He cozys up to enemies, while turning his back on allies. This makes the US look weak, and makes it seem like you are better off being an enemy of the US, then a friend. And Cap and Tax, while the EPA scheme still has a shot, fortunately it never made it past the Senate, thus this moronic, idiotic policy designed to benefit Al Gore likely won't take effect. His pushing it despite the job killing involved shows precisely how extremist he is.

The only real question is, who is going to come out of the Republican primary, and if the Dems have the intelligence to put a viable candidate up in place of Obama. If HRC runs, the Dems might have a shot in 2012, if not, its going to be a Republican year.

I said it was a conservative postition, and it is. Its you pointing out specific people, and specific people represent neither side. You want to accuse Obama and Holder of being flip-flops and turn coats, go ahead. There is no real left in America anyway, its just right and far right. I got no faith in either man.

This smacks of desperately trying to shift Obama to the center, even while maintaining his extreme left wing positions. In regards to this particular issue however, you are completely off base. If Republicans were the ones pushing for this, it wouldn't have happened. This has broad bi-partisan support. This is not a left or right thing, nor a Republican thing, this is an American thing. Last I heard, something like 85% of Americans support military trials for these guys. That includes a whole hell of a lot of libs. So try again, this time with something a little less far fetched please.

At this rate HRC is definitely thinking of mounting a challenge in the primaries.

I sincerely hope so, depending on who the Republicans put up, I could see myself voting for her. I would have voted for her over McCain in the last election, so its not that big of a stretch. And certainly she would be far and away a better President then our current one. Hard to believe she could possibly be any worse.

Good. They belong in military tribunals. I suspected Obama would reverse his position on this and I'm happy he did.

I agree. It took em 2 years, and strong opposition from Democrats as well, before he finally realized he wasn't going to get his way on this.

I do not see how the military gets this. It was a civilian crime commited by civilians.

It was an act of war committed against civilians. This falls under the heading of war crimes. How does this equate to civilians against civilians? Add to this the fact that they don't fall neatly under either the Geneva convention or the civilian statues. It makes sense that if you are going to charge them, that it be done in a military court.

LOL!! Whatever you're smoking, please pass it around. The Democrats are nowhere, but NOWHERE, near putting up anyone to challenge President Obama.

As a conservative, this is good news for me. Obama is exceedingly unlikely to be able to pull off a 2nd term. He has been the most divisive president ever. His level of incompetence eclipses even that of Carter. And while it certainly isn't set yet, its quite possible his legacy will rise to the level of Carter as well, who went down in history as Americas worst President ever.

Having said this, as an American, I have to admit I'm disappointed that the Dems won't put up someone decent to challenge him. I really would like a choice. For example, in 2008, had it been an election between McCain and Hillary, I would have voted for Hillary. Certainly she would be a million times better then Obama. She sure as hell couldn't possibly have been worse. Of course had it been Romney and Hillary, I'd have gone for Romney. I believe that having a choice between 2 good candidates is better for the country, regardless of who is elected.

The guy is just so incredibly MODERATE. And that's no surprise: anyone who'd looked into his history before 2008 would find evidence of wide-spread moderation and nothing else.

lol, I really do wonder what people like this are smoking. Please name a moderate position taken by Obama. Really. His extremist positions in everything from the environment to the Healthcare monstrosity say you are completely wrong. Not only is he the most incompetent President ever, he's also the most extremist as well. With obvious corruption at all levels, incompetent, inconsistent, and weak foreign policy. These do not suggest anything but a disaster in 2012 for the Dems. It would be better for everyone including the Dems, if he stepped aside and allowed a real challenger to step forward.

The pastor should not have done what he did -- it was merely for attention, and in the end he may well die from it. The people who have killed should likewise not have done so, regardless of what they claim the reason. Sad people like SuperLib will label one group such and such while dismissing the other entirely.

You disagree with the statement he was making. I feel the same way about flag burning, and for that matter, if some nut decided he wanted to burn a stack of bibles. (Thats happened before too.) The thing is, the reaction to it is so over the top and unreasonable, it makes me want to go out and burn a koran myself. People are trying to blame this pastor for whats happened. I don't. I blame the imams that incited the groups to riot and murder.

It is very strange that there are Libyans siding with Ghadhafi-if he were such a monster I would have expected him to have been deposed by now. His rats are leaving the sinking ship though!

Obviously you don't understand the way things work. Dictators stay in power by treating their friends well, and crushing their enemies. Thus, everyone wants to stay friends with them. Those who are friends, want to keep the gravy coming, so of course they support Ghadaffi. And in Libya, there are a lot of tribal relationships as well. He is supported by his tribe, those people are on his side.

It's amusing to watch those who support a supposedly democratic vote in one nation say they are against their president, who two weeks ago they called weak, go into a war.

Not really sure what you're saying here Smith. Personally, I'm against this action, because I question why the US should be involved there at all. So he's killing his own people... Thats different from Syria, SA, Bahrain, and most of Africa how exactly? Are we going to go into all those nations too? Far as I'm concerned, China wants to be a superpower, let them go in.

When Obama starts doing cosplay in a flight suit with two word slogan banners, then I'll join your camp.

Somehow I doubt if even that would be enough to bring you over to the other side.

Sorry, WilliB, but that is simply not true. Wind turbines are hardly pie-in-the sky but a clean and competitive energy source.

They are also exceedingly loud, a danger to birds, and lets not forget, that in order to use them, you have to keep another generator on standby to make up the load. And finally, you also need to take into account the maintenance cost. Let me tell you, its not cheap. Averaging it out, nuclear is the cheapest energy, followed by coal, gas and oil, the 2 most inefficient in terms of cost per kilowatt hour... You guessed it, wind and solar.

Naturally, if this plan involves moving to renewables that will help produce cleaner air for people and their children, Republicans and conservatives won't have a bar of it.

So, which would you like? The windfarm? Oddly, all the little libs are happy to build em, as long as they don't have to have them anywhere nearby. Of course they also prefer not to consider that in order to work, you have to have another plant on standby to carry the load.

Solar has huge environmental issues as well. Not only that, but its simply not cost effective. It costs much more then you will save, and unless they come up with a massive increase in efficiency, solar simply isn't worth it. It is like Ethanol, needing billions in subsidies to keep afloat.

Badsey: The US actually has comparatively little oil reserves, but quite a lot of natural gas. What we need for future energy policy is a combination of natural gas, alternative energy and conservation. These are things that we can control ourselves.

Actually, this is not true. We have both the oil reserves, as well as the natural gas reserves, not to mention coal. However much of these resources are locked up by legislation and executive order.

Obama can talk all he wants, with his forked tongue, but actions speak louder then his twisted words. Simply look at the number of permits issued by Obama. There are next to none. Oddly though, he seems perfectly content to pay Petrobas billions of dollars to drill 2 feet outside our territorial waters, then allow a US company to do it for free. Obama has absolutely no credibility on energy. None.

Molenir, the only mention of "three people" is when they talk about the councilmen, which are not the terrorists. I guess you didnt read the story so closely. Irrespective of their political or religious beliefs, they didnt deserve to die.

You are correct, somehow I got it in my head, that while many people were killed, they were all murdered by just 3 terrorists. In reality, the story doesn't state how many were involved in this murderous action. While I assume you were referencing the councilmen who were murdered by these monsters, the terrorists did deserve to die, and the world is a much better place without them in it. Just sad its lacking those they managed to kill as well.

Sarge, they had more honor than those who fly predator drones by remote control or those who drop bombs from aircraft knowing no one can touch them.

I don't see how thats possible. You are talking about people who have no honor. Contrasted with people who make great efforts to avoid killing civilians. I think you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Either that or you are avoiding saying you support murder.
