So dumb. A loon demands an apology from Limbaugh. Is this really news? This exact thing happens every single day!

To those who think Keynes' theories were completely wrong, please, look at the UK. The new Conservative-LibDem coalition has decided that economic stimulus was useless and have started down the path of austerity and, surprise, the UK's GDP has now contracted 0,5% in the last quarter of 2010, basically the only major European country to do so. The government's reaction? Blame it on the weather. I am not kidding.

Keynes theories are wrong over the long term, but correct over the short term. What happens when the government stops spending? Lots of people laid of from the public sector, people laid off from the private sector whose companies depended on government contracts. The private sector can't simply absorb the shock overnight. And if things aren't eased on the private sector to make business better. (IE lower taxes, less regulation) then it will be even longer until those displaced are able to find new jobs. Thus, you'll see a short term contraction followed by slow growth. In other words, no surprise. However doing this, despite the harsh short term problems, positions the economy to be much stronger over the long term. Reducing debt is a good thing.

Regarding Japan specifically. This comes as no surprise at all. I've known for some time this was coming. Actually, I'm a bit surprised its taken this long, and that they didn't downgrade it further.

America has hundreds of mosques. Muslims integrate in the US far far better than they do in Europe or Canada or Australia. I fail to see why this one little mosque in Temecula is newsworthy.

Not sure I agree with how well they integrate into the US. Being from Arizona, I'm well aware of a certain trial taking place presently about another of the many 'Honor' Killings that have taken place in the US. With things like that taking place, suggesting that they're integrating well into society seems very off. However I agree with the second part of your statement. I don't see whats newsworthy about another mosque being built. Nor for that matter do I see what the big deal is. As others have said, people have the right to worship as they like. Be it Muslims or Mormons. And no one has the right to tell people they can't build a religious building on their property.

WilliB - Israel gave the Sinai back to Egypt for the peace treaty that the Egyptian government signed with the Jewish state. Once the muslim brotherhood takes over in Egypt, that peace treaty will be gone, and Israel will have given away the Sinai for a piece of toilet paper.

I understand where you're coming from with this comment, but I have to disagree. Egypt isn't going to go to war with Israel easily. Not even with the Muslim brotherhood in control. Look at Turkey for your example here. Violating the peace treaty with Israel would be a significant mistake. Ditto with their border agreements. Its not something that even a government as radicalized as the MB would be willing to commit to. Israel, the US, and other nations will make that very clear to whoever winds up in control. With this said, its not a foregone conclusion that Mubarak is done.

Moderator: Readers, please focus your comments on Egypt. Israel is not relevant to this story.

sad reality is ijime is ingrained in Japanese culture from young to old, going to be really hard to get rid of

Sadly, you're understating the problem. Its not ingrained in Japanese culture, but rather in human nature. You find this problem throughout the world. Some cultures deliberately ignore the issue. Sadly Japan seems to be one of them, though things like this help push back against it for a time. However no matter where you go, regardless of society, there is bullying to be found. All you can do is give kids the tools to try to deal with it, and hope that they won't become bullies in turn.

Fortunately, most kids eventually grow up, and get over this evil nature, though you'll still find bullies in adulthood and even later in life.

Abbas was willing to give all of that up for a few symbolic crumbs. That is not right; he is a traitor.

Getting 97% of what you're demanding is a few crumbs? Wow, talk about nuts! So much for debate, or compromise.

I genuinely feel embarrassed to inform you that a picture is not a death threat.

A picture that has a gun pointed at a persons head isn't a threat? Not even an implied one? Ok, I'll create a picture of a Obama, with a gun pointed at his head. Still not a threat? I want you on record as saying that merely pictures of a person with guns pointed at their heads are not threats. Regardless of who they are. So that when some loon does do that, I will simply be able to state, that Yabits believes this is not a threat.

No signs. No posters. No non-political workplace killings. Real examples of right wing violence taken out on those they consider their political enemies.

So what you're saying is, that any example of anti homosexual behavior, is right wing? Hate to break it to you, but theres people on the left who oppose homosexual behavior as well. Look at Prop 8 in California, one of the most liberal states in the country. A whole hell of a lot of libs voted against the homosexual agenda. This isn't the only example of this. People tend to be all over the spectrum, and you can't simply say this is right wing, thats left wing. Being anti-homosexaul doesn't make you right wing. Being anti-abortion doesn't make you right wing either. Nor does being pro-choice make you a left winger. For that matter, to bring it back on topic a bit, being pro-gun doesn't make you either right or left. There are a hell of a lot of Dems who strongly support gun rights. Including one of your favorites, Dirty Harry himself!

the list contains absolutely no evidende of death threats against Palin.

Did you even bother to look at the list? The very first picture on it. My gosh Yabits, how far are you willing to go to ignore the proof. I suppose making up posters with a gun pointed at Palins head just doesn't count in your book. Or abort Palin bumper stickers. No, thats all peaches and cream, no implied threats there. Then theres all the vile stuff pointed at Bush... You want to talk evidence. Sorry, but put it simply, you lose.

On the other hand, the list over the past 3 years shows over 20 people KILLED and over 40 seriously injured by right-wing extremists. Malkin has to play a clown act with her long list of phony issues.

Wait, are you by any chance referring to that nutcase professor who went and murdered her co-workers? You do realize she was just another left wing clown. Oh, and that idiot who flew a plane into a building in Florida, sure enough, just another left wing loon. Betcha he'd get along real well with Obama. Theres tons of examples of left wing violence, please provide links to your so called list that shows evidence of right wing violence. This, I can't wait to see!

Actually, compromise is something the Israelis should start considering.

Compromise? Really? You mean land for peace type compromise that they've been going along with? Turning all of Gaza over to the Pals, thats not compromise? Agreeing in principle to turn over most of the West Bank, thats not compromise? Come on Sabi, I know you're nuts on the issue, but at least put forward an argument that anyone who isn't a hyper partisan jew hating moron could find rational. If all you've got is a default position, that Israel should be destroyed, that the Jews should die, then where is the room for compromise? Abbas is being realistic, you and your Hamas brethren obviously aren't. Compromise works with 2 parties, its not just all give, but give and take. Israel gets peace, Pals get a state, everyone wins. If your result is the destruction of Israel, then only those who hate the Jews win, and that simply won't fly, regardless of the anti-semitic UN pronouncements.

Why is she skiing? I do not see any snow.

Obviously she's not skiing. Shes using hiking sticks. If you're doing any kind of serious hiking, then you pretty much have to have them. I don't know if she fits that description, of being a serious hiker, but when I hiked the Appalachian trail I brought mine, and never regretted it for a moment.

Looking at her pack, it looks like she's just on a day hike. Last probably 2 or 3 hours at most.

The appeals court that ruled against Rahm is currently outside of Chicago's sphere of political influence. Can the Illinois Supreme Court be influenced by Chicago politics (aka Obama's Whitehouse staff)? We won't know until the ISC either refuses to hear the case or agrees to hear the case and decides against Rahm Emanual. The election law seems to be clear, one year prior residency and Emanual doesn't qualify.

The law is clear. However the Illinois supreme court agreed to hear the case, and to allow ballots to be printed with Rahm's name on them in the meantime.

I don't see what the big deal is. The Pal position, that would bring millions of non Israelis into Israel is simply not going to happen. Being rational people, they realize that they may as well demand that Israelis prostitute their daughters to the Pals, it would be about as likely to happen. So, scaling back their demand, to something that Israel might actually be willing to go along with, is part of the process of negotiation. Finding a reasonable compromise isn't treason, unless you label any negotiation at all as treasonous. Just another example that while the PA is not good, Hamas is monstrous.

Malkin is only credible to the right-wing choir she preaches to. She relies only on tiny pieces of a whole picture that she carefully selects.

Carefully selecting articles of 'credible' media sources like CNN, FoxNews, and AP, and posting links to the stories described therin. Somehow thats presenting a biased view? No, she makes her own point of view very obvious, and is unapologetic for it. However her sources are almost always unimpeachable.

Besides, the list that you promised was supposed to contain a large number of people who have been injured or killed by left wing "hate-mongers" over the past three years. Malkin's list is definitely not that.

Sorry, you wanted the complete list? Sure thing. Happy to oblige.

    michellemalkin dot com/2011/01/10/the-progressive-climate-of-hate-an-illustrated-primer-2000-2010/

That list has tons of stuff. Everything from the vicious hatefilled lefts attacks on Palin, including death threats, and hope of rape, to actual assaults on individuals who are not in the public eye, by SEIU thugs, and other leftwing extremists with whom Obama is so closely associated with.

I don't have a stake in this. I'm neither a Democrat, nor do I live in Chicago. However I find it very amusing. The law is clear that in order to be on the ballot, you must be a resident of Chicago. For the last 2 years, he has not been. Owning a home means nothing. Especially if its rented out. If he didn't actually live in Chicago, at least part time, it ought to mean he is not a resident. Still as wolfpack mentioned. This is chicago, and laws and rules really mean nothing there. All that matters is who you know, and if they can somehow justify ignoring the law.

The person pushing the list, Michelle Malkin, is in no position to accuse bias. The examples on the Palin "blood libel" discussion comes from daily newspapers and police reports.

Actually, she is. Like anyone she is capable of looking at the facts, and pointing out what doesn't make sense. Sure she is partisan, but what she posted there was incontrovertible evidence of bias in the media. Her being biased herself does not change the facts at all. Your dislike of her as an intelligent, articulate, well reasoned woman, who has received repeated and numerous death threats from the left, for daring to speak her mind, is noted as well.

The apparent acceptance of making light of political violence has, unfortunately, permeated the culture of what used to pass for reasoned conservatism. As has the blindness and complete denial of the problem.

The culture of denial and blame your neighbor is alive and well. As is the culture of victimhood by those responsible for the crime.

lol. Chavez is a tin pot little dictator who on the larger scheme of things, doesn't matter. He could go around badmouthing Bush, because he doesn't matter. Venezuela itself only matters because of its oil, and if things got to the point where it was truly unacceptable, the US could simply go in and squash him like a bug. No one wants to do that, and no one cares enough to bother. They're still producing oil, and even more hot air. Since hot air is all they have, then no one cares.

The "list" you provided actually contains more evidence of right-wing violence, not left-wing. Therefore, you have failed completely.

Really? You're saying the list contains proof of right wing violence? In point of fact, what it mostly contains, is a list of evidence demonstrating the obvious bias of the media. In spinning the story to suggest despite all evidence to the contrary, that the right is somehow to blame. Rather like you've been doing on this thread. In saying what you did, you actually proved you couldn't be bothered to follow the link and read whats written there. In doing so, you really are failing, at life, as well as in this thread. Truly I'm sorry you prefer to remain blind to the truth. Sorry, but you lose this round. Better luck on the next thread though.

Saying that you can and actually providing examples are two vastly different things. I won't hold my breath.

    michellemalkin dot com/2011/01/14/blame-righty-a-condensed-history/

Done and done. This is just a condensed version of a much, much greater list. You want the full one? Happy to provide that link as well. So, I've provided a link proving the vile, despicable, and downright evil left are indeed violent hatemongers. Now you go. Wheres your list proving the right is as well?

there are at least dozen other examples of Americans who have fallen victim to attackers whose politics were overtly tied to Tea-Party style right-wing politics.

Please, name some. I can give you a much greater list of those who have fallen victim to left wing hate mongers. Guess we should shut off all the news networks except fox to protect people from the vile despicable left wing hate thats constantly being spewed forth from these cesspits of left wing lunacy.

Hehe! Come on Yabits, why do you insist on pushing this silliness? Anyone with even a speck of impartiality can see that the vast majority of hatred and violence comes from the left. The right of course is not innocent. But the reality is, theres loons on both sides. It just seems that the left wing loons are more willing to engage in actual violence.

Maybe its because I'm a news junkie, and watch Fox, CNN, and occasionally my local news. But this story has been on every single day, multiple times a day, with updates, and discussions etc. Its been done to death. Please, lets move on to the next topic.
