Wait, so what they are saying, is that they'll stop threatening us, if we give them food. Or at least, give them money for food. Heh, imagine if a person tried that. Wonder how long it would be before they ended up in prison, for extortion, blackmail, and assault.

The truth is that Iran should not be unequivocally condemned for taking strong measures against espionage. Especially when the lies and condemnations are coming from those who defend espionage and assassination themselves, but only when it is being conducted in their name.

Ah, is that what they're doing here. Good to know. I mean, if you hadn't told me that, I might have thought that Iran was merely presenting trumped up charges, with no basis in reality, to use this man as a bargaining chip. I mean, they've never, ever done that before. Certainly no hikers were ever arrested, falsely convicted of spying, before eventually being released... No, Iran is definitely in the right as they always are. No doubt the execution of homosexuals and women is completely justifiable as well... Moving on.

The issue of whaling isn't about race at all. It is about Japan whaling in waters that are not theirs and lying about what they are doing.

Sorry, but I don't see anything that Japan has lied about. They're hunting whales. They've stated it clearly. They are doing so in international waters. Again, no treaties against it, and they have every right to do so. That you oppose their actions does not change their right to do it. I don't like the clothes you wear, this does not give me the right to force you to wear something else.

Why should the Australian government have to pay for travel expenses if the whalers take them from 100 km or so from the AUS coast to Japan and then ship them off? Sorry, but if I were the AUS government given such a bill I'd use it as toilet paper and send it back after, saying, "Next time don't take them".

Smith, you are smarter then this. This is not how the game of diplomacy is played. Relations between nations are much more complex, and are subject to a lot of rules and agreements that have been laid down and adhered to for many years. If Australia was to do something like you are suggesting, it would endanger a lot of economic and security treaties, not to mention issues of justice. You may as well demand that Australia sends out their warships to intercept and force these boats to go home.

I am more curious as to where the job growth is actually occurring I'm sure that it is uneven across the Nation. I would say its more than likely it's concentrated in the States that have low tax rates, business friendly with less stifling regulations and are on a fiscally sound footing with spending under control at the State Government level. Policies that really should be replicated and enacted at the Federal level to get America back to work in all of the country.

Most of these jobs are seasonal, and won't last. Hopefully though, it the start of a trend upward.

Just like there are no atheists in a foxhole, there are no non-Keynesians in a depression - except for those whose paychecks depend on their denying it.

Wow, what a statement. Completely untrue. Only those doling out the money, and those getting money are Keynesian. Everyone else, those able to sit back and rationally view the market, are mostly non-Keynesian.

Too bad they can't treat the pirates the way they used to. Catch em in the act of piracy, hang em high. No delay. Over and done. If they did that, and treated the Somali pirates the way they did the Barbary Pirates, I guarantee, there would be a swift end to the pirate attacks.

There are two problems with this: the first is that they will very probably lose: courts will see ample precedent in presidents' making recess appointments, as is stipulated in the Constitution.

Except, for the simple fact, that they never went into recess, thus the appointment is invalid. Ample argument against it. Even more telling is the simple fact that it is no less then a direct circumvention of the constitution. Specifically, the role of the Senate in confirming appointments. Think longer term then this Laguna. Eventually we'll have someone decent as President again, and possibly, the Dems will manage to sucker enough people into giving them back a majority in congress. So with a Republican President, and horrors, another Dem congress. Will you still agree with it then?

There will be hell on, the President might actually get something done, un-impeded by partisan crank-shafts in the party of No.

And the chorus against Democracy continues to grow. May I suggest moving to Venezuela? Or perhaps Syria. I mean since you seem to be so strongly in favor of Dictatorship.

Considering this is his Majesty, King Obama the 1st, his ignoring the constitution isn't really a surprise. After all, this is the same person who decided that if he can't get laws he wants passed, he'll just implement them by executive fiat. Fortunately when we get a President again, they can simply undo all the crap he's done with the stroke of a pen.

It's odd that in these threads and the article SS are referred to as activists and environmental terrorists, yet in international newspapers they are referred to as whale crusaders.

Not really surprising. Good PR spin around the world gets em seen as heros. An objective view however shows they're simply just another group of eco-terrorists, no different from any other group using violence to accomplish their goals.

Honestly, sexual harrassment claims aside, I just don't like the man. His disdain for non-conservatives is clearly apparent in almost every interview he does, which isn't going to fly well when half of his constituency is made up of Democrats.

lol, Coming from a supporter of Obama, thats an amazing sentiment.

Whats most pathetic about this story, is that its all anonymous character assassination. Some women, not naming names, claimed he said or did something, and got a bunch of money because of it. But we don't know who it was. Only that there were several of them. Seriously, if they can't name the source, then whats the story?

The best part of 60 Minutes was Andy's three minutes.

Very true. Often the rest of the show wasn't worth watching, but Rooney was, even when you disagreed with what he was saying.

Who knows. At this point, it there are links to 3 campaigns. Obamas, Perry's, and Romneys. All of them could be guilty of this to some extent.

So someone needs to better explain to me how the current system benefits the "rural, more sparsely populated" states.

Everything about the American system is about checks and balances. Thats what you fail to understand. The framers of the constitution were extremely skeptical of direct democracy. They sought to insulate the elections from direct voting. Thus the electoral college, and elections for the Senate. The Senatorial election was changed in the early part of last century, and this change, is thought by many conservatives to be a huge mistake, with the result being a much stronger federal government, and much weaker, less independent state governments.

Getting back to the issue at hand, the house is directly elected, with each state receiving votes based on population. The larger states had an advantage in this, and so to balance this, each state was given 2 Senate seats, putting each on level ground. With the bi-cameral legislature, that means, that even if the majority rules, it cannot force their agenda upon unwilling states. Sadly though, this is no longer really true, with the expansion of federalism.

I can respect principled conservatives, like Jon Huntsman -- a highly popular former governor of one of the most conservative states in the union.

Heh, Huntsman is far, far from being conservative. Nor is he particularly principled. When Obama and the Dems swept into power, he began supporting Cap and Tax. He accepted Porkulus money over the vehement objections of his state. Give it up Yabits, Huntsman is unelectable, by both his words and actions. Were he to run for Governor of Utah again, he wouldn't even make it out of the gate. He knows it as well as everyone else.

Give it up, will you? It's attitudes like yours that are dragging America down and have been for years.

It amuses me to hear libs come out with lines like this. Essentially he has said, if you don't agree with him, then you are dragging America down. However what he stands for is a cradle to grave nanny state. And since most Americans disagree with him, by his own words he is saying that most Americans are dragging down the country. Sad and Pathetic, typical lib.

Just imagine they had shown this zeal in investigating Obamas background.

Come on now, if the media wasn't in the tank for the loons, no one would ever vote for a Dem, and where would be the fun in politics then?

Well well well... and weren't Moliner and WilliB screaming about Democratic plotting just yesterday while I stated it was far more likely to be a GOP rival?

All I can say is, that the story becomes more interesting all the time. Particularly as its now being suggested that Rahmbo himself might have been involved. So now we have links to Perry, to Romney, and to the Dems attack dog in chief. The Godfather Rahm Emmanuel.

Cry me a freakin' river, oh Party of Fastboating. At least the Democrats don't have to fabricate; they can just sit back and watch Republicans tear themselves to pieces.

Sorry, this made me laugh. The party of lies and hypocrisy saying this? So funny.

Heh, so all the conservatives that recently had DSK judged and hanged before his arraignment are going to cry "honey-trap" and claim the alleged victims were just in it for the money. Some in fact already are. Heh, it's too much.

Wait, conservatives did that? Methinks you forget where it all took place. New York is owned almost entirely by Libs. And while I don't doubt there were those who prejudged him on both sides, the attacks against him were primarily made by those same libs. Guess this kind of reaction is pretty typical. A loon says or does something moronic, then blames conservatives for their actions.

The Perry camp is now saying, no, it wasn't us, it was Romney's fault... Now this is getting fun.

If this is what constitutes sexual harrassment to certain women, I suggest those certain women not be permitted to work amongst males. Women who imagine sexual harrassment are just as much trouble as males who actually dish it out. Probably more trouble actually, because you can spot the harrasser and avoid him. But you can't see crazy charges coming until its too late.

The trouble with this type of allegation, is that as you point out, there is no way to defend against it. Given the right scenario, anything could potentially be construed as harassment by someone. And indeed, could actually be harassment. What it eventually comes down to is a he said/she said type of thing, in which the accused always loses. And frequently the only way to deal with this is termination. Either the accused, or if they are senior enough, the accuser, with a nice fat paycheck. The problem of course is, those of us who know people who have been accused of things like this, who know the details start to wonder whenever we hear of another example, if the accuser is just looking for a paycheck. Or perhaps trying to get someone fired. I've seen both happen where I work.

Well, that's mighty nice of you. At what point does critical investigation of Cain's character become racist?

Probably about the same point where disagreement with a sitting President becomes racism. Going by your standard logic, that would mean, if you dare to investigate, criticize, or have any doubts about Cain, that you are in fact a racist.
