jews freed one single person and paid a terrible price, giving freedom to hundreds of terrorists. is it worth it? YES, one life is worth anything and everything, and it shows one of the virtues of being jewish.

I see, and so when those 1k people start attacking and murdering Israelis, you will be happy to go to the families of those murdered and tell them that their sacrifice was of course worth it, because 1 Jew was freed, so plenty of other Jewish families can lose their loved ones.

Oh, no. The biggest immediate loser is Fatah - Bibi has very cleverly undermined the less extremist wing of the Palestinians inorder to prevent any sort of unity.

I disagree with the point you're making, while admitting that it will have that effect. Even still, the biggest loser in this deal is Israel.

Whats amazing about this, is that everyone on both sides of the Israel/Pal debate, who normally would be very partisan over their side, right wrong etc, all seem willing to admit, this is a bad deal.

I'm inclined to agree, but for different reasons. This move was a rather obvious ploy to boost Hamas inorder to undermine Fatah and prevent Palestinian unity.

I don't know if thats the thinking behind it, I rather doubt it in fact, but I don't doubt it will have that effect, and that those who made this decision realized this as well.

I don't know who is the bigger fool here. Is it the Israelis for releasing so many just to get one man back? Or is it the Pals who are essentially saying one Israeli footsoldier are worth 1,027 Palestinian fighters?

Israel obviously is the bigger fool. The only winners in this are the terrorists, and the family of this soldier that have convinced Israel that it is in their best interest to collectively be idiots. Its going to come back on Netanyahu, when these men get out, some or many of them will again attack Israel, and when they do, and are discovered, it will be loudly reported that a person released for Shalit murdered another Israeli. Very short term gain, for long term cost. Stupid.

Government and government workers need to realize this and treat the money they are responsible for with much greater respect.

    Couldn't agree more.

Thank you ratpack. It drives me crazy how people always seem to want to blame the victim in these cases, and not the actual criminals.

Back on topic here, I really do wonder why these scumbags weren't charged with attempted rape, not merely molestation.

Hypocrits. Did they apologize for the murder of Israelis by terrorists crossing over from Egypt? Of course not.

I would normally agree, as I am sympathetic to Israel generally, however in this case, I have to disagree. Particularly with your comment. Egypt has done nothing wrong, except allowing terrorists to cross their border into Israel. Could they have prevented the incursion? It is possible, should they apologize for their failure to do so, as well as for their people being killed by Israel in pursuit? I don't think so. Israel did the right thing in apologizing to Egypt. In this case, they were definitely in the wrong.

warnerbro - As someone who lives in the shadow of a nuclear power plant, I have to tell you, I'm not worried. Not in the slightest. Despite the attempts to panic and incite hysteria. I just ask myself a simple question. How likely am I to die from a nuclear accident? And how likely am I to die by getting struck by lighting, while simultaneously being run over by a car and mauled by a bear? The odds are about the same, though it tips towards the latter. Since I'm much more likely to die of a heart attack, or car accident, living next to a nuclear power plant doesn't really concern me.

Aww.... poor Tim! Let the door hit you hard on the way out -- hopefully it will knock some sense into you and you'll stop being a Republican.

So you're saying, the only way to make someone a dem, is to knock them senseless right? Heh.

You want the rest of the world to accept and respect Japan's "apologies"? Try acting like you really mean it.

By all means, please explain how?

LOL!! That statement can be easily disproven. The fact is that many of world's most competitive economies have either minimum wage laws, or have scrapped them in favor of wages derived through collective bargaining.

I actually wish that what you are saying was true. Unfortunately, it is not.

Your figures are simply false. Do a simple check on that yourself instead of letting Hannity and Beck selectively arrange data for you.

PM, which part of what he said was untrue? It is without question that Obama has created more czars then any other President, largely as a way to circumvent the process of Senate confirmation. As for the numbers, its easy enough to check. Obama has over 30, Bush never even reached double digits.

How is this possible? This can't be...

You seriously ask how a corrupt administration, one that is the most inept and incompetent ever is down to 39%? The man has eclipsed Carter as the worst President in American History. My question isn't why is it all the way down to 39%, but rather, why is it still so high?

President Obama's political counteroffensive will consist of blame shifting and more of the same policies that have failed for nearly three years now. Last years "Recovery Summer" has America on the brink of a double-dip recession.

Yep, its the Tea Parties fault for creating the most inept, and incompetent administration in American history. I wonder who is to blame for the corruption?

Sorry, but I don't know what this means on its own. But I guess if you mix in the words "neo-socialist", "Big Labor", and "Keynsian spending" it will make the angry and delusional right start frothing at the mouth.

Heh, thats funny. Lets try it. You say, big labor, I'll say, Sarah Palin. Who starts frothing first?

Seriously though. How can anyone not look at what Obama has been pushing and not ask, isn't this socialist, isn't this anti-business? The fact that he has failed to get all the stuff through he promised before the Dems lost control of the House, means he is done. His own supporters are abandoning him, and the independents he suckered into voting for him are wising up in the face of his economic disaster. If the Dems were smart, they would put forward a primary challenger. That is really the only way they could manage to hold the Presidency, and if they had a good one, it might help them retain control of the Senate, though at this point, that change looks like a foregone conclusion. It would have to be a Governor though. Someone like Mike Beebe from Arkansas, or O'Malley from Maryland. Another Washington politician wouldn't stand a chance. Former Gov. Ed Rendell from Pennsylvania might have a shot as well. But at this point, I don't think Dems will put forward anyone to challenge Obama, and that will mean Republicans take back the house in 2012. The only question is, which Republican candidate it will be.

If the Republicans had successfully held up the debt ceiling vote and shut down everything, the downgrade would have been set to at least one level lower than AA+. The lunatic fringe would have still tried to blame Democrats for that, even though it was entirely the Republicans' doing.

Still living in fantasyland I see.

Roughly a third of the American people considers themselves Republican. Less than one third endorse the Tea Party and better than 50% strongly disapprove of them. This means a minority of Americans are holding the rest of the country hostage until they cave in to their demands

You still think that the Tea Party is wholly Republican? I got news for you. While the Tea Party is largely Republican, there are a heck of a lot of Independents and even some Democrats involved. Because when it comes down to it, everyone is, or should be concerned about the unsustainable levels of spending.

It's only fortunate that there's a few sane Republicans left. I'm sure that there will be at least one sane one on the super commission; that is all the Democrats will need is one to break ranks with the Tea Party.

So you're backing away from some of your previous comments about Beohner?

You don't even spot it when you completely contradict yourself, since you led off by saying you wished* the Republicans would have let the country **default by not raising the debt ceiling.

How does this contract what I've said earlier? You aren't making any sense. I would rather have the US not raise the debt ceiling, shut down the government. Lets be real here for a moment Yabits. Back away from your political nonsense and think. How much money comes in every month? How much money is needed to make payments on the debt? How much money is needed to pay the social security checks? The total of A, is more then the B+C. In other words, the US could have paid the mortgage, and the car payment, and still had enough left over, if they ate ramen for a month, and cut the cable bill and the internet. Instead, they chose to borrow more money, to keep going further into the hole.

The only way the US could have defaulted, is if Obama had insisted that the debt be paid last. Thats it. So if we had defaulted, it would have been on Obama regardless. However this is all moot because the spineless Republicans caved at the last minute, and the White House crowed in triumph. And understandably so.

Today's breed are either completely stupid or are able to hide their satanic deviousness much better.

Its always sad when the libs try to hide their own stupidity, by repeating the nonsense that those who disagree with them are idiots and evil. Maybe they think that if they repeat it often enough, someone might actually believe their nonsense.

Ummm... can't you see the sarcasm in that statement? He's mocking you, and idiots like Bachmann, as well as Scientology to boot.

From what you've said, I gather you think that because Bachman is a woman, and conservative, then naturally she is somehow mentally impaired. Is this another sign of Palin derangement syndrome rearing its ugly head again?

A law that several Republicans panned, a law to fool rubes like you into thinking that Republicans would actually stick to it -- just like they didn't stick to Gramm-Rudman. Which Republicans are convinced that rubes have completely forgotten.

Do you think I'm not aware of this? Why do you think I point out that they caved? That Republicans are basically spineless. If they were really and truly serious about cutting spending, they would not have raised the debt ceiling, they would have shut down the government instead. They would have forced the Dems to actually compromise in order to get the government running again. They chose not to. They chose business as usual, and passed a weak compromise bill so they could claim they were doing something. Most people I know however see through this.

When the Republican candidates were offered a 10:1 ratio of cuts to tax increases -- TEN to ONE -- every single candidate rejected it. That is truly refusing to cooperate. The Republicans' message: Do everything our way, or else.

Sorry, gotcha statements don't really work. Because if a candidate had agreed, then we both know what the result would have been X candidate supports increasing taxes!

Most recent polling shows increasing numbers of American people holding the Tea Party in contempt -- a greater than 50% disapproval rating and less than one-third viewing them favorably -- a significant decline in just a few months, thanks to the Tea Party Downgrade.

What you mean it doesn't have anything to do with the medias constant crazy Tea Party mantra? The idiotic racism claims? No, its all because Obama got the economy downgraded and tries to blame it on the group trying to rein in the madness. Heh, Yabits. Even if your numbers are accurate, more people support the Tea Party then support Obama. Probably because of the Obama downgrade.

Yes, and I hope to not see them in a position of power. Many of the republican candidates are trying to drag religion into politics, and there is a principle at stake:

This from the person dragging Romney's religion into the mix?

Easiest place I've ever been to navigate was Utah. Directions and numbers are all they use, and all you need. 270 North, 380 West. You know, that if you are at center, you go north 270 and west 380, you'll get where you need to go. So easy.

For someone who asserts the Tea Party was trying to push "Cap and Tax," that would be par for the course.

From someone who insists the only solution is to raise taxes during a recession, and that we need to spend trillions more dollars we don't have, until we can no longer even pay the interest on the debt, well I'll take that as a compliment. It really is amazing how crazy some people are. Heh, this morning I saw a man talking to his shoe, and I immediately thought, who does that remind me of...

I can almost visualize the froth around your mouth as you wrote that. The movement will ultimately win because good always eventually triumphs over evil.

Is good to know then that sanity will eventually prevail, and fiscal discipline will triumph. And of course that Republicans will manage to beat back the evil unions and their thugs, who seem to think they are entitled to continue feeding at the public trough.

Harry's smart enough to know the thing was a gimmick designed to score political points and just a massive waste of the people's time. Good on him.

Ah, so something designed to structurally reform washington, a law that would have cut the deficit by more then 4 trillion, and which would have preserved the credit rating, despite everything tOdumbo could do, is just a gimmick. Is good to know where you stand at least. Now to find some intelligent people to debate.

Whats amusing is that 'Dirty' Harry was so insistent, that his bills get a simple, fair, up or down vote in the House. Guess he doesn't feel the need to reciprocate. Indeed. I'm starting to think Beohner should adopt the same principle. Because when it comes right down to it. Anything passed by the Dems is just a waste of the peoples time, and really not even worth considering...

Directly quoting from the S&P report: "We have changed our assumption on [the credit rating outlook] because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues."

If you keep shilling this, do you think anyone might actually start to believe you? They are lowered our rating because the Democrats insisted on refusing to cooperate in getting our debt and deficits under control. But they think tax increases will fix it? Standard & Poor's is nothing more then a 'useful idiot' here. The basic situation is simple, Dems refuse to cut spending. They control 2/3rds of the government. Republicans tried, but being basically spineless, they finally caved and gave the Dems and Obama their way. The only way Republicans could actually implement change, is if they were willing to shut down government. And unfortunately, thats something, they aren't even willing to consider.

The GOP has no better answers than the Democrats, and to pretend otherwise is just plain silly. The fact that the GOP had no answers to bring to the table beyond a recalcitrant, "Nope. Won't raise taxes.

lol, obviously you are not someone who pays attention to the news. The Tea Party pushed republicans to pass Cap and Tax, and they got it through the House. 'Dirty' Harry didn't even bother to give it the benefit of a vote. Republicans had answers, the Dems just didn't like em.
