Sad, but this is what deficit spending eventually leads to. The Greeks want to keep spending more money then they take in, but where are they going to get it? Who is going to give it to them when they can't even pay their bills? The US should take the lesson to heart, and balance the budget, immediately.

He then asked to be excused as he and his family are planning a 4th of July get-away.
Just when you thought maybe, just maybe the President might actually start being a leader, he goes and shows his true colors. More class-warfare garbage, and no leadership. To paraphrase Harry Truman, The Buck stops... somewhere else.

Being from Arizona, you can hold events outdoors in the summer, even in the worst heat. But you have to prepare for it. Everyone must be reminded to drink plenty of fluids, there needs to be lots of shade available, and if people start getting dizzy, they need to be cooled off immediately and monitored. Ice packs are a necessity. But mostly what is needed is proper foresight and planning. To say the school administrators were negligent is a massive understatement.

Good for the French. Not following the Germans over the cliff. We'll see about 15 years from now where things stand in the Energy markets, if the Germans had a good idea, or as is much more likely, a very bad idea as they end up spending more and more money purchasing power from others.

No, pretty obvious, particularly if you listen to what he said, that he was in fact guilty. The jury did a good job. Finding him guilty of 17 count, not guilty of 1, and reaching no verdict on 2. The previous jury was unable to reach a verdict. Hence the retrial. Had they found him not guilty on most of the charges, there would have been no 2nd trial. Double jeopardy would have applied.

Wow, I'm guessing you hate Thomas, this despite obviously knowing next to nothing about the man or his opinions. Every justice regularly writes opinions. Thomas does not just go along with the majority. Saying otherwise just proves your own ignorance. Let me guess, you're one of the few people who actually think Anita Hill was telling the truth. Sad, truly sad. The man is a great legal scholar. I don't always agree with him, but his opinions are consistent.
Regarding this case. I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand I strongly agree with the freedom of speech argument. I also strongly agree that its the parents job to monitor their kids. However the idea that you can create the most violent of images, and that is just fine. But if you dare show a flash of breast as well, then suddenly thats no longer acceptable. Somehow this seems wrong.

Has nothing to do with Rwanda, or wanting to help people. You can't be dovish and favor intervention. Its one or the other. You have to realize that in either case, both are going to cause deaths. Either from the US going in and fighting, or from a potential civil war etc. The real question is, what do you believe the US should be doing. Should the US have the role of worlds policeman? Should the US go and intervene in conflicts around the country because the citizens and leaders of those countries can't seem to get things together? Or should the US simply stay out of it regardless of the potential genocide thats occurring.
In this case, the problem is even more difficult. Not because Dems are torn by whether or not to intervene, but rather because the President insisting on intervention is a Dem as well. Speaking out against it, is being disloyal to Obama. And as we all know, daring to disagree with Obama means you are in fact racist. Heh, ah wait thats the lib spin, not reality. So stick with the disloyal option, otherwise half the Dems would be racist right along with the 60 percent of the country who thinks Obama is doing a poor job.
To be fair Republicans had the same problem when Bush was President. Dems freely condemned Republicans for going along with the War and the spending policies, while Republicans were backed into a corner. Not going along would be in their best interests, but doing so would be disloyal to the President. We saw what that cost em in 2006 and 2008. It was only when they went back to their conservative roots, that they were able to regain a bit of control in 2010. The real surprise though is the number of Republicans who are coming out as anti-war, or anti-intervention. Who are questioning the US role as the worlds policeman. The Isolationist republicans are putting partisanship aside and forming an alliance with the dems Dovish core, those who have the courage to stand up against Obama, at least on this issue. And that is a surprise.

And because it is not the perfect corporate citizen you believe it should be, then it must be targeted and denounced as Evil! I understand. Obviously I think people who feel this way are nuts, but hey everyone has the right to their own opinion, regardless of how misguided or crazy it is.
Lets see, making the company more profitable, or making the company less profitable. Which is in the best interests of the core stakeholders? That wasn't all that hard to figure out.
Ah, so how about this. Wal-Mart fires all of them. They go on unemployment, and you can subsidize them even more. That sounds good right? Hey, maybe they'll go out and get jobs doing landscaping, oh wait except then they'd still be on the public dole. Well, McDonalds is hiring. Of course then still they would be on public assistance. Wait, what jobs are available that would free them from you having to subsidize them?

Thats a good question. The more likely reason they're quitting, is the publicity focused on them, has made them the target of every law enforcement organization. Everyone is targeting them, and its really only a matter of time til they're caught. Even a single slip-up could bring them down, as the kid in England found out.

Ok Yabits, you win. Wal-Mart is the most evil place ever to have existed. If everyone who ever worked or shopped there was to suddenly drop dead of a heart attack, the world would magically become a wonderland full of joy and happiness. We should all loath and despise Wal-mart and anyone who even thinks about shopping there for their low prices and good service. I mean, theres nothing worse then low prices and good customer service...

Its not just Republicans with this problem, its Dems as well. Dems wouldn't speak out early on to criticize the President. Its only now that some of them are beginning to remember they oppose wars. Republicans are fracturing on the issue. There is now a large and growing number of Republicans who favor isolationism. As in, not being the one to go out and solve the worlds problems. I find myself among them. So you have the anti-war Dems, in common cause with the anti-globalist Republicans. Not sure how strong either group is. Both sides have other axes to grind. Dems feel they have to support the President, anti-war or no, and Republicans feel they have to support the troops, anti-intervention or not.
Except from Dems who would be unflagging in their criticism. As opposed to the deafening silence you hear now.
On this I agree. They should have cut the funding. Both Dems and Republicans should have voted to strip the funding.

Wait, are you seriously trying to claim, that Wal-Mart is on the hook for not fully covering its workers health insurance? Really? Not providing medical and dental for all, but rather only their management team? If thats what you're saying, then allow me to simply disagree, and point out once again, that people can find jobs elsewhere if they wish. No one forces them to work for Wal-Mart. And having some portion of those working for Wal-Mart on government assistance is neither the fault, nor responsibility of Wal-Mart, and more then its the responsibility of any other company. You want good benefits, get a job that supplies them. Otherwise, deal with it.
I did look at some of the facts mentioned by the thing you referred to. Specifically the urban costs involved. I can't really speak to that, as the wal-mart I worked at, and for, was in a rural location. (A small town) There effects were nearly all positive as it helped drive the economy in that area. And as I said before. While some businesses went under, others sprang up, or changed their model and survived. And the town got a massive boost in sales tax and property tax revenues, which more then offset the losses in other areas.

Actually, I suspect I know more about the subject then you do. I was 15 when a Wal-Mart moved into my hometown. People started shopping there in droves, and yes, I got a job working there a year or so later. My 2nd job. I've seen what happens first hand, and I've seen the results on the communities. And despite what you seem to think, almost all of the benefits were positive. Yes, some stores went under, yes some places were not able to compete with Wal-Mart. But those businesses that are still around, are there because they were able to adapt. To change their business model and become successful despite Wal-Mart. And the town I'm from was thrilled as their revenues increased. Are there downsides. Of course. I suspect the buggy whip manufactures hated automobile manufactures. But the employees working there got jobs elsewhere.
I seriously doubt if Wal-Mart is going to need to declare bankruptcy any time in the future. But keep dreaming. Maybe if they get some loon as the head of the company, he'll work to make them unprofitable and it will happen. However as long as those in charge care about their shareholders, Wal-Mart will have no problem going forward, despite all the loons and their impotent irrational fury.

Indeed, Roe v Wade is a very good example of this.
You say I'm being loony when I point out your obvious irrational bias against this company. You then say, in the very same post this...
Who is being loony here? You are obviously biased. Not for any particular valid reason, but simply because Wal-Mart, big, thus bad. Superlib said it best.
But according to what passes for logic with you, power corrupts, big companies are bad. Evil even. Malevolent was the term you used. If this is in fact the case, then logically it means you should try to escape every corporation.

Heh, Yabits, for once I agree with you. I would not vote for Perry, unless he was up against Obama. Then I'd hold my nose like I did for McCain, and Bush, both times. I think we've had enough Governors of Texas to last us awhile. The guy I'd most like to see President is Christie, but he's not running. Barring that I'm leaning towards Romney or Bachman. I like both candidates, but am not sure which would be better.

Sure, they can call themselves Wal-Girls, and work to get candidates they approve of elected, or change the opinions of their representatives. Theres nothing wrong with that at all. No one said they can't.
In your irrational hatred of Wal-Mart, consider that it employs many thousands of people around the world. While you may despise them for not paying them enough, or imagine somehow theres some evil cabal of leaders whose goal and desire is to punish and penalize their employees, those same employees could work elsewhere. They choose not to. Many of them choose to work for Wal-Mart for years. Not because they can't find a job elsewhere (though with an incompetent like Obama managing the economy that might be a bit tougher now). They choose to stay because they like their jobs, and they receive enough money for their time. Any who feel differently find other jobs. If you asked its employees whether they think Wal-Mart should be punished, and have to lay off a bunch of employees... we both know what their answer would be. So lets not pretend you're doing this for the employees of Wal-Mart

You sure about that? Last I heard it was significantly higher. I'm not living in Japan anymore, and when I was, I certainly never had the option to buy luxury anything, so I wouldn't know by direct experience.

I hear what you're saying on this, and I agree and disagree. However just something to keep in mind. In the 90s, in the US some Dems thought the same way you do, and increased taxes on luxury goods. Figuring they'd make the rich pay more. The unintended consequence of their actions however, was the collapse of several industries, and thousands of people out of work, as people quit buying those luxury items. Keep this example in mind when proposing taxes on luxury items. Too high a tax, and people stop paying for the items. Most luxury items are already taxed pretty heavily, if you raise those taxes even further, you are running a significant risk, of losing money as people quit purchasing the goods, and others lose their jobs because of it.
