Davin - you make a good point. She could have just popped to the bathroom. The sill was 120cm (higher than most 4 year olds' height I think)....Ok it's avoidable but an accident none-the-less

I've heard of the food connection too. I know my son wakes up at 2 or 3am after we return from UK demanding breakfast. Tummy clock is a powerful thing! Junkface- re airline food, ever flown JAL or ANA lately? Food's inedible!

It's great, highly recommend it! Having worn glasses from the age of 6 there's the wonder of waking up in the morning and being able to see without groping for glasses (seriously!); no longer getting grit in or losing a contact lens; no potions and pots to remember to take with; can nap on-the-go...list goes on and on...If you're thinking of doing, do your homework and find a reputable place.

From London to Tokyo you usually arrive in the morning, which is infuriating. Try to sleep as much as possible on the plane - I used to take a pill. If you don't like to take sleeping pills (I don't now as I travel with a child) and can't sleep in the plane, try to get a nap when you arrive but ONLY FOR 2 HOURS then make yourself get up. Stay up as late as you can in the evening then you should sleep through. The following day try to stay awake as long as you can BUT avoid going to bed after about 11.30pm. Try to avoid taking a nap on this second day. This works for me but my husband used to always cave in and have a long nap or fall asleep too early in the evening! He always gets it worse than me...

I think the mother has been punished enough with the loss of her kid, no? While i can understand (to an extent) why people feel the need to rail at the mother, why is the driver getting no stick for this??

Um - people, the question directly refers to "flight attendants" NOT safety...Lots of irrelevant posts here!
Moderator: That is correct, Readers, please comment on flight attendants.

My kid is well-behaved on planes (though wasn't always the case) and I object when Japanese carriers place us with other families. When he tries to go to sleep he is (along with everyone else) kept awake or disturbed by the racket of several kids screaming altogether. It's annoying but what can you do? Make families stay at home? I'm glad noone has ever told me to "shut that kid up" as I would probably chin them - did that person actually think you wanted your child to make that noise?
