If you gotta go, this is still better than mixing cleaning agents and risking injury to innocent people. As long as you don't burn down the whole apartment complex doing it.

What a laughable article. Suffice to say sexual harassment is rampant in JAPAN.

Rough day to be 17 in Japan.

MikeBarrymore and 30061015 are right. After almost 8 years in Japan I saw kids in potentially hazardous situations at least once a day, compared to NYC for instance, where I see this maybe once a year. It doesn't take a scientific survey to notice either. Just someone with an inkling of awareness and concern for the safety of others. My money is on Bobbafetts theory;

Both of these posters have very clearly indicated they are not blaming the woman for getting herself killed. The blame is clearly on the authorities shoulders for not doing more. However, there is a lot more she could have done. If someone threatened to kill you, would you go on with your normal life after notifying a police force that is known to be as inept as the Jcops? A little imagination and self preservation concerns may have given her a chance. And to again reiterate, this woman was the victim and not to be blamed.

I don't think this woman is capable of remorse. Sitting behind closed doors will just add to the taxpayers debt. If there ever was a candidate for the death penalty, due to the nature of her crime, this woman is it.

When I was 6, I bid farewell to my mom at 9:00 in the morning and didn't return until 5:00 for dinner.
Is there anyone here who really thinks they can let their child do that today, anywhere in the world?
The times have changed, albeit a 6 year olds thought process is probably not that different. Todays parents must find a balance between over-protection and neglect. A very difficult task indeed.
Hope this youngster recovers without any complications.

She's 21 years old, beautiful, multi-cultured, and enjoying her life. Envy is exuding from most of the posts here. I'm guessing you're about the same age as her.
