Ryugasaki is a great big hole with rice paddies. The fugitive couldn't have picked a better place to flee in the cover of darkness. It must be a strange and eery place for a Tokyo Cabbie and who can blame him, this is Ibaraki after all.

I agree it is fascinating to live in this era and witness what is happening here. However, while AKB48 and their distinctively different, yet equally ingenious, sister group NMB48 have certainly demonstrated talent and creativity that far surpasses anything accomplished by British and American artists in the 1960's, it might be a stretch to compare them with 19th century Vienna -- but I admit it is debatable.

The fact that I cannot detect sarcasm from this passage is..disturbing.

Within 30 minutes of her death, they increased the prices of WH albums on Itunes and Amazon by ~30%.

Meh, genuine fans would already own all of her albums and whatever collectors memorabilia bundled together. For me corporate antics such as this is of little surprise compared to realising that, there actually is a market for people who would take interest in an artist's music as soon as they learn of his/her death.

Imagine how these casual 40 somethings and "What's Love Got To Do With It" is just about the only WH song they know from the radio. All of a sudden they want to know more about her music after she is dead and willing to pay for it. Really what is wrong with them?

Why, this Australian was saluting his sovereign (who lives on the other side of the planet for most of the year) in his own idiom. The man should've never been called up to the Magistrate's Court in the first place.

Japanese whalers have definitely gone too far on several occasions, and their bullshit "research"-excuse is getting old.

Exactly! enough of this IWC pussy footing and go whaling with clear intent to make gourmet meals out of it.

Killing whales is not civilised, neither is throwing butyric acid. Both sides are wrong but Japan will have to stop killing whales before this shameful misery will end

Yes whales are sacred, Japanese heathens do not understand this.

I BEG YOUR PARDON? this looks more like a regular occurrence in Saitama, which is contiguous with Noda by the way.

“Sometimes, when I see foreigners in Japanese dramas and animation, most of them seem stupid. It makes me uncomfortable if Japanese people think that foreign people are like that.” (American man)

Not at all, doesn't this man pay attention to all the Hollywood TV and movies playing on mainstream TV channels and cinemas in Japan? Doesn't it strike odd that white people who make up less than 1% of the Japanese population have a disproportionately huge presence in Japanese media?

My prediction; now that the image of more mature and non-kiddy women is pulling in the cash, we will see a massive shift in the image of AKB48 in an attempt to cash in on that.

In other words the masses still objectify Asian women.

If I said I liked to any of the Korean or Japanese female group acts for their music, I would be a liar.

“Disgusted that Russia and China prevented the U.N. Security Council from fulfilling its sole purpose.”

Looks like trouble in the Allied victors of WWII club paradise

U.N has deviated from its core principal

I disagree, its original function was to vanquish Germany, Japan and Italy and cart away whatever means of 'reparation' from them.

Today Japan, Germany and Italy is still denied a permanent UNSC seat and yet they are keen to take very generous budgetary contributions from them. In the current UN financial financial year Japan provided 12.53% of its budget, the second largest contribution by a member state after the United States. Whatever notion the victorious Allied Powers came up with respect to maintaining their new peace is peripheral. When I say peripheral it's not an understatement, why else would the founding members introduce the UNSC permanent seat veto if any one of the 5 great victorious Allied Power should unilaterally disagree on a proposal?

and don't get me started on its "Peacekeeping Role" which is no more than sending military engineers and logistical personnel to tame places in the developing world where the hostilities have already subsided. If tensions rise again they'll be gone before you could say, "Habyarimana is dead"

Does JAG really think this prosecution will deter self-mutilation by the members of the service while not in combat?

Threatening to prosecute servicemen with psychological problems seems to only treat the symptom.

But we all know that the USN would never publicly admit that some of their sailors and marines may be mentally ill, that would not necessarily lower the reputation of the service, but could expose the top brass to a load of allegations from how they recruit people and run their lives.

Too bad for Japanese companies it's too expensive to buy our legal system. You can't cover the small claims courts completely.

But you can turn it into entertainment like Judge Judy,People's Court, Hatchett..
