As Nationalisre put it on an another whaling thread, 'plebs addicted to an opiate that was once scarce and enjoyed only by the patricians, but re-introduced in copious amounts by foreign (American) imperalists'. Although I do commend Japan for its ability to unilaterally preserve its own interests opposed by every other country in the world, but it's a shame to see how foreign cultural influences continue to manipulate the conduct of our affairs for the worst.

We got to remember that any decrease in private vehicle ownership in Tokyo will be a result of the income effect and the market forces with little change in government intervention. It would be appropriate for the government to floor and peg the ownership costs when shaken agents and insurance companies start lowering their price in response to the decrease in demand. That way, vehicle ownership will not rise when the economy picks up again.

My utmost respect goes to the naturalised Hakujin-Japanese community from where many individuals such as the Reeds exploit their talents for the sake of this country. There's too many times they are discriminated by Yamato because of the colour of their skin, a most unpleasant prejudice not experienced by actively disloyal Continental immigrants and their Japan born descendants.

sorry "plutonic affection" was a phrase by some environmentalist who criticised Japanese purchase of spend plutonium rods from France back in the 90s. As humorous the pun is, it was stuck within my mind 'till this day.

Maybe if was used as a regional hub not just by US airlines, Narita will deliver on quality as it lives up to its increased demand. But the landing fee there is so expensive and it has curfew from 10PM to 6AM, there's no way Narita could become a viable omnihub in North East Asia.
In the hub airport business, quality follows demand and demand follows airline use costs. If Narita can't be flexible and cheap for carriers, you will never expect the best service of the likes of Changi, Chep Lap or Dubai.

What if this man had been a westerner where hugs are also used to show plutonic affection, wouldn't the arrests and legal commotion just be another show of Japanese instituions being behind the times? (insentive to western customs)

Even with its implied imperialist connotations, I believe baseball is the lesser of two evils when compared with the game of cricket that usually accompanies British colonialism. Anyone from baseball playing nations would start dribbling as they struggle to follow the dull and awkward pace of cricket in any of its rule incarnations.

Yep, because of acts like that, government bravado attempts like the ones NationalRE suggests are tall orders. But it would be realistic and appropriate if the government regulates the whaling crews to be proficient in the use of incapacitating arms and pirate deterrance.
