Why doesn't China rename its military? It could become a Self-Defence Force. Then everything would be all right because they would no longer have an army, navy or air force.

Very true. China should be encouraged to name its navy a self-defence force and work at finding definitions of international waters that suit it alongside loopholes in international law that can be exploited whenever it feels like it. "All kinds of meetings" sounds like the standard Japanese method of never actually doing anything to me.

I sincerely think this is a good idea. If Japan is a reliable precedent as you both have implied. It would be hard for China to argue for owning any military hardware capable of projecting power beyond its borders. I'm glad that both of you are actually thinking for the sake democratic interests in the Pacific Rim.

BOYCOTT JETSTAR TOO PEOPLE - THEY ARE AN AWFUL, AWFUL AIRLINE! (If they ever resume flights again which is now looking doubtful). I just hope that the whole company folds.

just how much did you pay for a Jetstar ticket to complain?

Police say Nomura exceeded the 80 km/h speed limit by 70 km/h at one point, traveling at a speed of 150 km/h.

wow, that's like barely past the threshold when ORBIS bothers to work.

What's with the fantasy that Japan doesn't pay virtually anything to the Americans for defense?

If there's anything Japan isn't giving enough to its American friends is Japanese criminal justice when they take the liberty to commit a crime on Japanese soil.

Anyhow Japan should feel secure with a foreign force that prides and honors itself with unit citations and warships named after people and exploits that served to vanquish her. Without them Japan would be speaking Chinese, yes for the Japanese people to master the language spoken by a superpower is bad. Even the mostly English-speaking Allied powers that ran the post-war occupation sought NOT to force their native language onto Japanese society as a second language. If it was a such a terrible prospect for the common Japanese folk to be able to learn what goes on in life outside their isles back in 1947, it sure isn't now.

Therefore America protect Japan's enduring right to stay ignorant. For if it weren't for ignorance no people in their right mind would let some foreigners who nuked them park some 40,000 troops on their home soil.

Don't worry, Kashiwa is pretty much an extension of Saitama.

On a serious note, it could be another stash of industrial waste that's dumped, concealed and forgotten during the chaos of the post-war recovery period.

What's to see? Tokyo has such an abominable skyline. That's what happens when you don't regulate urban development and sprawling. Now you have cars going through lanes that weren't designed for motor traffic or dense neighborhoods without satisfactory disaster safe assembly areas.

But on a clear day we will be able to see Fujisan, now that's a pretty sight!

Ousho and those gyudon places have better P/E ratios than most family restaurants I imagine. Alot of the* famiresu * establishments around my area haven't been refurbished since the bubble burst and I can't tell as to whether the food or the building is disgusting. The grill menu at these places are not very appetizing for a hungry grown male. For the same amount of money you pay for a small hot plate of a beef patty and maybe an over marinated fried shrimp, you can eat a wholesome meal at somethingsomething-ya. Remember above all, there is a recession on.

I have two Korean friends, one was exempt from the military draft because he had very minor and un-noticeable health problems and was made to be a tour guide, the other was healthy and I heard he went through some gruelling training. Rain may not be put in harms way but the training he will receive will be harsh.
