Who's going to trust domestic pronouncements of safety?

Even if Japan is safe, the authorities providing information committed the "3D's" of dithering, dissembling and disinforming. The TEPCO chickens are coming home to roost, and people overseas are worried they'll have an extra drumstick.

None of these are problems of capitalism. They are problems of greed, laziness, self-entitlement, and reluctance to wean ones selves from the government teat.

They are problems of liberal democracies. The tendency is to increase services without increasing revenue. The old bread and circuses problem.

its widely rumored by others who've sang the anthem televised that she "nailed it" in the studio after many takes and it was lip-synced

Let me guess: The real singers behind the scenes were Reptillians.

admitted that she laced her marijuana with rock cocaine, and revealed that she had spent time in rehab

All her money, and she was smoking crack? What the point of being rich if you can't afford proper cocaine?

This is not about what human beings will do, this is what Government forces as the law and disregards things that are most sacred

I would rather force people to have access to contraception than be forced to support unwanted children. No-one is forcing any behavior on religious people or defiling anything sacred. If you don't want to use contraception, you don't have to.

in reality, most have limited retirement pensions or savings. Japanese live a long life and if you're limited with money, you get stuck sitting in from of the T.V. and drinking beer as a cheap entertainment

How much does it cost to ride the commuter train to the last station and take a walk in an unfamiliar neighborhood? I agree with Cleo. The limitation is force of habit, not money and certainly not time.

    @sailwind

Yes, deftly out-maneuvered him by ensuring America's number concern was put on the "back-burner" by putting this Government intrusion in peoples lifes front and center

Sailwind, which will end up with more government intrusiveness: even more illegitimate kids on the welfare/medicare teat, or including contraception in healthcare? I agree that government intrusion is a legitimate concern, but framing it as intrusion on the input end ignores the intrusion down the road on the ouput end, if you follow me.

There really is no problem for a vehicle driver if the cyclist travels with the flow on the correct side of the road as they are supposed to. Other than that, cycling sensibly on the footpaths is much safer.

Spoken like a true car driver. This has been proven to be untrue. In addition, you're not allowed to cycle on the sidewalk.

Pedestrians want cyclists on the street; drivers want them on the sidewalk. How 'bout y'all figure it out and provide the appropriate infrastructure. Until then, I will blame stopped cars for making the roads dangerous. For the record, I think think cyclists who ride against traffic should be heavily fined. Ditto for taxis that make sudden stops and u-turns. Same for cars stopped on trunk roads.

I don't see that contraception or abortion (except for medical reasons) should be paid for out of health insurance funds or taxes; like pregnancy, getting laid is not an illness.

It's cheaper to pay for contraception than to pay medical bills and eventually prison for unwanted children. It's the lesser of two nanny state evils.

Crack down on illegal parking and the cyclists will be happy to stay on the road. But that will never happen.

Before the kid starts walking, but after hubby starts stepping out.

But as pointed out, I doubt anyone complaining about the noise was there before the base.

They might not have been there, but it doesn't mean their family didn't own land before the base was built. If you moved there after the base was built, you have no right to complain about the neighborhood. If you live on ancestral land that has been despoiled by the presence of the base, then you have a more legitimate grievance.

I'd always assumed Akanaishi to have been, shall we say, not a ladies' man in the traditional sense. I thought he'd gone through the Johnny's recruitment couch.

Maybe this is for business, and your purported Johnnycouch action was for pleasure.
