Tofu and takkyubin are reasonable. The crazy items are those that are off by a factor of more than ten.

ASPIRIN US...100 tablets = 100 yen Japan...12 tablets = 1000 yen Almost 100 times the price.

RICOTTA CHEESE US...800 g = 400 yen Japan...200 g = 1000 yen Ten times the price.

And lets not forget that Marihuana alone is not addictive but many do mix it with tobacco, alcohol, etc and here is where it turns bad.

So how do neighborhood yaoyas sell them for so much less?

Actually, if you would look closer at most fruits sold in supermarkets, you will find that these are shipped from far away countries.

And in many cases, the overall carbon efficiency is higher for produce shipped from far away. Bananas from the Phillipines vs. hothouse Hokkaido strawberries? Not always clear cut which is more efficient. Although in this particular example I'm comparing apples and oranges.

Local yaoya is 30 to 50% cheaper than the supermarkets. I don't know why anyone would buy veg at the super.

Actually you could also claim what Japan is doing is a form of cultural imperialism as well.

Yeah, they're imposing their culture on whales. Lol. I don't think that really counts. The right-wing Japanese are trying to impose their culture on rank and file Japanese, but that doesn't quite count as cultural imperialism either.

Now the term from the 80's clearly defined eco-terrorists as people who carried out acts intended to harm people physically.

So if a group blew up a polluting factory without hurting anyone, that would not be ecotorrism?

And if Al Qaeda bombed the Golden Gate Bridge without hurting anoyone, that would not be terrorism?

You may find the FBI definition too expansive, but your definition is certainly too restrictive.
