Also did you notice the police did not disrupt the protestors?

I hope the protestors had approval for the protest. Otherwise the cops would be allowing a breakdown in the rule of law. And we know what a stickler you are for that, Yuri -- unless it involves Japanese breaking the law.

In any case, it's too bad this mercy killing made the father take his own life. I think the court would have shown some sympathy for these circumstances.

What she did was illegal in America but legal in Japan. There needs to be clear cut laws on jurisdiction, who decides what and when. The "abductions" work both ways. So many posters think American law good Japanese bad. There has to be a way to respect the traditions and laws of both.

I seem to remember you're all for foreigners being subject to the full weight of Japanese law, Yuri. Now you seem to have changed your tune. Amazing what a little shoe on the other foot will do.

For the record, I think people shold abide by the law of wherever they live. But you go ahead and play the "victim of cutural imperialism" card if it makes you feel better.

Why does your reasoning seem to go out the window on these whaling threads, Cleo? The data is collected with the aim of determining whether commercial whaling can be sustainably resumed. So the reasearch is legal, above-board and for data. AND the ultimate goal is food supply. Is this all too abstract for you?
