Flyfalcon; Land shortage in japan? No, there is tons of free space in Japan, only lack of space is inner cities. My village has twenty lots of land ready to sell and no takers, because most prefer city life. Get back to the reality.

Great news from the games company with the worst ethics and buisness practices in the industry. If they were a band they would be like AKB48, factory produced dross rehashing the same tired stuff again and again for mass consumption.

Farmboy, 750-950 Yen the going rate where i live is not a living wage.Train well?? hahaha, very good, go to most places nad ask for ingredients or source of certain fods and you are mostly given a blank surprised look.

Tips are for top servie, don't feel compelled to pay and you shouldn't feel that way.

PeaceWarrior; I must be a japan basher/hater or other terms favoured here then. My posting history no doubt shows that.

Akiko, Service in Japan is poor unless you are using aservice which requires you handing over a large sum of money.

A more personal service is favoured in most countries, when dining for instance apleasent and knowledgeable waiter is worthy of atip for being professional and providing a good experience, they would usually be tipped well for their effort.

Japan does not have this service except in high end places where prices are high, the personal touch is absent, amybe what local prefer but not myself.

A tip should of course be voluntary and the customer should feel no pressure to pay.

Seems like some think that University (i hate the Aussie term Uni), is the target and best option for children. This is false and only benefits a small amount perhaps 20%.

A schol should help develop children into well rounded adults with creative independent thinking who aerea ware of the world around them. Mixed schools are nota problem, most single sex schools are private and thave parents who push their children more academically.

Instead of thinking about stuff like this, how about trying to make children look forward to better lives than we have had, not mass producing office workers.

Posted in: From late primary school to middle school, girls develop faster than boys both physically and mentally. So it's inefficient for boys and girls to take the same classes together because their mental ages are different.

Loose cannon; Cigarettes have no benefit to anyone except sellers. Porka nd sweets can be used as part of a balanced diet. alcohol in moderation does no harm, tobacco smoking is only harmfull and does nothing poitive to ones health.

Best thing would be to ban smoking, say the goverment gives a 3 year time to make it illegal. Up til then suibsidised help is given to help those seriously addicted. Smoking has no benefits to society.

We go to Kameoka most weekends, busy place and at night there are tons of teens and early 20's tearing about on motorbikes and cars. The roads are mostly narrow., not a safe place for driving at the best of times.

There are a lot more similarities than differences. Why would she be afraid of how she is seen abroad? I came to Japan and the last thing on my mind was how the locals think of me, my main concern was making enough money to look after my family.

I really do not understand why this writer makes such a big deal about differences, of cousre every country, every town and every street is different, maybe not in huge ways but life would be boring if it was all the same.

ho gives a toss, it is a red herring. The management wanted this to happen so they make wads of lovely Yen.

The girsl get flat rate salary whatever and have to abide by rules in how to live their lives. Modern day slavery i say. How can an employer say no boyfriends , no talking to mnedia without permission etc... They have taken away their humanity and so many say " they make people happy, don't be haters, nyuk nyuk nyuk", Utter shite!

Serrano; There is no such thing as an evil person it is a childish label such as good guys Vs bad guys. A person can commit acts that many would consider evil.

If he was an alquida or taliban member who kiled loads of his own men, the same who say this man is evil woudl acll him a hero and say he has seen the light etc....

Hopefully this poor man receives good therapy while inside that eventually allows him peace of mind and rids him of his demons. We can learn a lot from men like this and he should be studied by experts to help us understand what makes someone behave like this. We have learnt alot in the last few decades which type of person may become a serial killer or mass murderer. This type of spree killing is different and is not usually so well co-ordinated and well planned.

Modern society thinks that year on year growth is the key to a utopian society, it is obviously not. The systmem needs to change and adapt to anew way of living. Oil and gas reserves do not last forever, tecnological advances should make us happier than ever but we are all worrying about the future.

We have the tech to all work less but we must have more new things and the governements say spend, spend spend! We ahve here people saying taht the women with kids should work, iot seems to be implied it is their duty. No doubt it will also be a duty to work until death and possibly low achieving and poor/or poor kids put to menial jobs instead of going to high school. Why shouldnt they? So what if they feel like robots and live mostly moserable live. Japan as does the rest of the developed world, needs to change what is important in life otherways the downward spiral continues.

bicultural; can you explain this reserve system in cinemas?

Where i live there are no cinemas and we have never been to one in Japan, would be nice if i could travel to Kobe and be guarnteed a seat rather than a wasted journey.
