Mr. Putin is a clever guy. I think he's interested in developing the islands, and this may be why he's in negotiations with Mr. Abe. It's a way to redirect revenue so that Russia doesn't have to pay to make the place more profitable. If Mr. Putin makes concessions by allowing Japanese venture capitalist to come in and develop the place then this could become a huge draw for both countries. So it's not about the energy per se. Mr. Putin keeps his enemies close for a good reason.

Wise move on the part of the Catholic church. A man who has a long history working with the poor deserves the Papacy. The truest work of God comes from serving others, not pushing for gay agendas and other government reform. Church should stay out of politics and big institutions. The work of the lord is the job of the Pope. This is a great man of God.

The way this article was written makes the whole story seem one-sided. Why and how were they in the same room? Whose room was it? Sure. "No" means "no," but how are we to know given the evidence so far?

Operational Tomodachi - For starters, the Japanese didn't ask for your assistance in the clean-up effort, you offered it with no strings attached and was made aware of radiation levels. Whether radiations levels were high or low has no relevance because you exposed yourselves willingly and had full knowledge of the risk before you engaged - uninvited.
Throw this case to the dogs!

@zichi<< Good point. I have gone back and forth with the reporter on this story, and I have admonished her to do a better job of reporting on the recovery effort, not this fear baiting. All she's doing is fueling the hysteria that is causing discrimination. I wish JT would properly vet their stories before publishing them.

The OP, and Stephan Jez, and to the editors of this paper. The residence of Fukushima are not leaving. If anything, this is a temporary displacement. The media has done a pitiful job of portraying the events in Fukushima and the lies and misrepresentation has to stop. Just because a few Fukushima residents get their faces on the paper and decry what's happening doesn't mean that there is a real radiation problem. It is faulty logic. Do not portray Fukushima in this way. It is just bad press filled with slippery slope analogies.
Thank you.

So many great comments. Porn stars will never see retirement as a clear option. Most if any will occassionally do part-time porn if they retire, but never ever retire fully. Those that have chosen to retire completely often struggle with depression and anxiety and an overall disconnect with society. They rarely have anything in common with women who lead ordinary lives.

I'm a naught magz reader myself and I think it's an assault on my freedom if you take away my porn magz from the shelf. Healthy porn should be encouraged in order to stimulate peoples will to want to have sex. The country needs it. .

Pizza delivery. Yes. The "shotengai" is more than just about shopping, it's about community. Grocery stores and mom & pop shops are places where people shop, meet, and greet. Home delivery is just so unJapanese.

Best advice. Don't raise them here. Japanese language ability will not be a skill by the time they grow up into working adults. It is disadvantageous for them to even be raised in Japan. Better they were raised in your country Pete. But I'm sure that's not what you want to hear. Basically....you should've thought about this before conception.

His intentions were purely for the sake of bringing a cheerful mood. Unfortunately, some people may have thought it was uncomfortable. At the same time though, it would be nice to offer some entertainment for the passengers, like on the Yamanote Line. If JR would place t.v. monitors in every train so that people know what's going on, I believe this can help alleviate some of the tension in the atmosphere. This guitarist then would feel compelled not to play his guitar......

I tend to stick with the three basic offerings: blond, dark roast, and some import from somewhere. Starbucks is not bad at all, just not perfect like what I had last night in Kikuna at the Colorado.
