It would be foolish to think that any of the big three are going to dissapear from the earth and all those people will be unemployed bacuse they are on hard times.. They may have to down size, layoff workers, but they are not going to fail into nothingness..

No matter how many ignorant people write they will...

Its not a 100k a year business and they can find the money from many places they have put it in over the years.. And yes some people will lose jobs now instead of 6 months from now when they hold their hands out for more bailout...

also they dont lose money on every car they make, but they do use the money they have very unwisely.Consider a truck unit like a f150, that basic frame and component design has been around for 20 years or more, they make great money on every truck they sell, hence the desire to keep them around and popular.. They make a majority of the profit they have on the financing of the vehicle, and just like the house market they gave many loans to those who shouldnt have them...

Consider this also. Jaguar(until sold to Tata),Range Rover(until sold to Tata), Volvo, Astin Martin, and mazda... ford either owned or had major shares in these companies. Plus its domestic brands

Gm has control or major shares in the following Opel, saab,Vauxhall, wuling, and Daewoo.. Plus its domestic brands

So I guess its not just a US issue when you figure in all the companies they own or have controlling intrest in....Also consider that most of the parts and production lines are out side the US now it will affect more then the US. But I still dont think a bailout is the answer.. Maybe its time to let them find themselves by restructuring....

    YuriOtani..

Everyone has had a bad car.. I have owned around 100+ cars in my time, including almost every brand.. I have had American cars go 300K plus with no problems and I have had Japanese brands do the same.. I have also had American cars need major repairs before 50k and I have had toyota, a honda, three Mazdas, and a Subaru need major repairs before 50K. American cars are made for Japan too, if you lived here you would know they have small framed Ford and GM vehicles here, and the most popular American cars in Japan are chysler(jeep, PT cruiser)..

Japan pays all the major car makers in Japan so I guess it isnt that unusual to do.. Also I dont think goverment should pay them as I stated in my post on the other article in this subject here on JT.

    SushiSake3..

You make yourself look ignorant when you post without reading... I was putting up facts on the sales and reliablilty of vehicles, but I also posted that they dont deserve the bailout, and need to have a new business plan. I also stated they need to change the vehicle platform to make it more in line with todays market in the other article on JT about this. Take off the anti american glasses and please read the post you comment on it...

    Sushisake3...

Just sit down in your chair looking at your screen and feel safe you will always be able to complain about the US defending you, being the backbone to the UN since all those other countries dont support the military side of the UN they just go there to complain about the bad men in the world.. The invasion of Iraq was something that should of happened by the UN in the name of removing a genocide leader, but Bush didnt wait... I support Sadamm out of power, I just dont support the US having to be the tool used for his removal..

Once again I say your welcome to rally your countries armies and have them take over fot the states and police the world, we will stand down for you... I wont hold my breath too long though as I know its easier to sit on the side lines and yell then it is to get in and play the game...

And as it is a circular arguement that your position is in too.. To complain about the genocide and the killings of the world but to wait for the US to take action so you can complain about it... again and again and again..

Shouldnt have been in Afgahistan either... It should be the UN in there and it should of been the UN in Iraq doing the job the UN was created for... Why should the US always be the protector and police of the world, why cant other countries like Canada use their men and woman... Maybe if they did they wouldnt be so quick to blame the US for everthing....

But most in those other countries (except Britian) hide their heads in holes and pray that the Brits or the Americans will take care of those bad countries...Its sad to have the US and Britan be your police and then complain how they do it... Get your gun and your vest and take your army and your country to fight terrorism, to get rid of leaders who do genocide...

    Skip..

Whats a border line atheist? You dont believe in god until hes needed?.. I'm not religious at all, but I dont use the term atheist..

You are right though that you cant have a party based on being one way or another because what a lib is or a con is has to be based on your own belief and that makes it impossible to have a true lib or con party... How about the "party for a healthier, safer, cleaner, less poverty, more peace less war, no religious wars/fights, no racism/sexism/prejiduce, and all over just nice people..."

Sezwho2 Savior isnt just a religious term.. Many on here and web sites around the internet who support Obama say things like... He will end world hunger, he will end all war... ETC ETC.. those claims are just foolish since we have no idea what he can or can not do...

I think McCain and Obamas meeting shouldnt be called "He even got McCain to try to co-opt the conversation." when you do this you give no credit to McCain and all the credit to Obama.. I think based on McCains record of going over the party line it most likely was in McCains nature to do this such thing...

To say the American cars are inferior to foriegn cars is a strange at best statement... Consider the Ford ranger and the Mazda b2500 truck are from the same place, the Caravan was a Mits engine and trans, the Small car line of GM is from GEO.. The cars are almost even in par.. Ive had allot of cars in my time, and Ive had bad Japanese cars, bad American cars, Bad German cars, and good cars of almost every brand.. An example.. My 2002 Dodge Dakota had over 300k with no major repairs, My 2001 Subaru legacy had the motor replaced at 89k, My wife's 2001 Ford explorer had no problems at 160k, My wife's 1995 Intrepid had problems with the trans at 40k, 70k.. My Supra 2000 had 190k when the engine started to burn more oil then gas.. and on and on,....

But what American car companies had not done was simple, they did not plan for the change in oil prices, consumer purchace trends, and other factors that have affected them... They have created their own issues and they seem to not want to change to the better. In contrast Japanese companies have led the way in ECO friendly vehicles and that has helped them out in the long run, but they too are in serious trouble...

We shouldnt be bailing out any of them...

Since the 1970's car manufactures have used every excuse to not change the way of thinking they have. They had many chances to create a viable energy efficent vehicle and said no..

With that said I agree with the idea of a loan system in which the car companies have a set dead line to make changes to their platforms and to repay the loan, remove ceo bonuses until the loans are paid off and the company is in the green.. ETC ETC

Another good start is to have everyone stop trying to link the dislike of Obamas policies to his race...

Obama will get his chance at the plate, but people shouldnt try to paint him as the savior of the world nor the bringer of death and destruction.. He hasnt even raised his hand yet...

Im glad the two candidates could over come the idiotic political party BS and meet to have a normalized discussion...

Also aday there are those who would rather cut off their fingers then post anything like we have no idea how he will do, maybe he might not be that good, etc etc... It goes both ways..

I read on this site that the Obama's team has been trying to play down the promises he had made to the voters before the election..

According the posters who supported Obama's election, he will and can fix the budget, He will fix the war, He will bring peace to the world, He will save the health care and education systems, he will (well basically everything)..

It doesnt seem that anyone other then his own supporters and Himself set up his to do list, and now maybe people are realizing he is just a guy with no experience and we have no clue what will happen with him as the president, but those who praise him cant admit that so they blame it on another already before Obama even has a chance to do anything....

I'm finding this funny as hell.. My reason for not voting for him was simple, he doesnt have the skills yet to run the country, he doesnt have the experience yet to do something outside of his puppet masters wants, and he is coming onto a situation he isnt going to be able to handle based on the things he promises and the reality of what can be done in his term..

Nothing like his party bringing him to the slaughter after they told everyone how good he is going to taste..

Now start the blaming on eveyone except Obama so when he fails you can say see we said Bush did it, Clinton did it, Snoopy did it...

When you apply for a job and you already know all the problems and say "hey I can fix everyone of them " your setting yourself up for a fall..

    http://www.cfr.org/publication/9236/

People should read this its a report on what groups did terrorism and attacks based on political swing..

According to the report until the 1990 the left had the market on the terrorist activity inside the US and only recently the right has become a force in that department.

It also goes on to state that

Although environmental extremists were responsible for nearly all the domestic terrorist attacks between 2002 and 2005, right-wing extremists are still considered the most dangerous to the United States, says the SPLC

So it seems the potential for severe attacks comes from the right, but most attacks are from the left....

Good read if anyone is intrested in it...

    Lmao..

When a political person puts his reelection dreams aside and actually does whats good for the nation then you may see changes in the education system that will make changes that matter.. Throwing money at Education isn't going to change the push through under educated athletes get, the fact teachers wont get paid what they are worth(when schools get more federal money they spend it on administration and not teacher pay), they won't change the fact that most public education outlets are just intrested in passing as many kids as possible, and not the real education they need, they also wont change the fact the only exercice the kids get is walking from class to class...

But hey dump that money on Education, throw money at the banks, throw money to those who don't work.... Its not called change when you do that its called waste..

TO make a change we need to reconstruct the education system, the welfare system, the regulation system for banks, insurance, and medical companies including hospitals..

Or we can just play tennis with the blame ball,,,, Lefty did it,,,, right did it,,,, lefty did it,,, righty did it....

That brought to you from an Independent who actually voted for the independent canidate.....

Also allot of the Racist things happening have been happening all along for years and years, now every racist thing that happens is because of Obama according to the news and lugnut political reporters...

I also hate Racism and thing people who are racist are morons, be it a black, white, yellow, brown, green, orange person being the racist...

As far as proof about if the left and right have the same amount of extremist, prove me wrong... But my opinion from reading many sites is that both have them and they seem to be equal... Also I read in the Latimes an article that explained the % of extremist and it was very close for each side.. I dont remember the article but it was this year I read it..

Real proof thats hard for either of us to prove since biased information is mostly what is out there..

I understand your logic, but its a shifting logic thats molding itself as you write, so Im just along to help finish the mold.. When you get it finished and have a firm statement it may be very accurate..

White guy death threats dont make good news... Sorry but thats the truth... Every president has had death threats against him coming into office, Obama just happens to be the first Black man coming into office and it makes Historic news to report anything related to a threat cause its a race thing now..

Yabits it was just a word search and I posted the links... It had 200k hits.. some had signs in pictures some had video I really didnt want to look at them, because I have seen and heard people say they want Bush dead before many times... Even on this site...

I just wanted you to understand your comment was "Nowhere, no way, no-how, has anyone left of center called for Rice's assassination, or for Bush's." now its changed to this..."I don't say "the left" doesn't do things like that. There are fringe nutcases who believe they are on the left, who really don't believe in much of anything. What I can say that it is against liberalism itself to engage in such acts -- and anyone who does so is not a liberal, no matter what they may call themselves."

One of those links has an article on an actual attempted assassination on Bush by an American....hers another about an attempt that was planned.. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,24141366-401,00.html

See Yabits my first post showed those on the left (you didnt say only Liberal Americans) have talked about and even tried it on Bush.. not to mention almost every president we ever had, including Reagan, Bush Sr...

Both extremes have nutjobs, and both have about the same amount of extremist who talk such crap as assassination. How are we able to judge if any one of them was a true liberal, how do we decide if you are. I guarentee we can find a group of liberals who all say the others in the group are not true liberal, and also Cons--Neocons..

And what would it matter? Thats the best point you have made today... It doesnt matter if its an Arab, a black, A neo-Con, a Liberal, or a White guy.... its wrong to talk that talk and its wrong to do it... Humans are suppose to be the most intelligent, but we have problems overcoming color and sex.... Sad isnt it..

Point is this, when someone is in the presidency and it isnt your man, someone in your political party is going to be extreme enough to do such a foolish thing as talk about, or try (suceed) in this type of action..

To say the left doesnt do that is just a show of political blindness and foolish to say the least..

As for Obama doing or not doing anything (because hes smart or hes going to keep his cool etc etc) we dont know and wont know until after he is in power...

History has a way of showing peoples predictions as not only wrong but dead wrong... Only thing we can hope for is that he doesnt abuse his power, he doesnt use his majority in congress to pass things we cant afford and dont need, but like all of history it has to become history before we can say what he did...

With all that said.. I hope Obama can be the one who keeps his promises and brings us out of the hole we dug, but as like anything you hope or dream of, we wont know until the fat lady sings and history shows us he did it...

And again hate and racist crimes are as bad as terrorism, and sometimes no different then terrorism... Let Obama take his swing at bat with us as the fans cheering him on, if he hits a homerun we all win, if he strikes out we can elect a new pres in 4 years..

So Taka you see why Ayers making the statment..(below) shows he is lying about something?

In fact, Ayers said he didn’t even know Obama when he hosted the event at his home in the Chicago neighborhood where the two live. Ayers added that he agreed to have the meet-the-candidate event after a state senator asked him to.

It would be better for both of them if they said "hell yea we know each other, we served on few boards together, our wives talked before, our children talked before, we have talked shop and personal stuff, but we have different views on what is the right way to get things done."

I would feel so much better if they kept it honest instead of stepping on each others words and straight out lying about it...

Yea its hard to live in a glass house and throw rocks..

But I also understand the "rights" view about Ayers and Obama lying to cover up an innocent relationship..

Better to be open and tell the truth and let the cards fall then create a reason for people to wonder about the issue..

Most Political arguements lead to being hypocritical..:)
