Zenny11, I agree! Everyone should be subject to the same laws and penalties if they sign a UN convention. Even if Japan signs it will continue to hide behind the article that allows them to protect their children from 'domestic violence' (which in Japan only needs to be alleged, not proven!) Each and every Japanese parent who has abducted children will claim their foreign (and even Japanese) spouses were abusive just to get around the law. Will Japan support these claims and continue to avoid returning the children? My bet is their behavior won't change.

The only thing Japan is going to understand is economic pressure. Give Japan a deadline to join and comply, and if it doesn't apply some sanctions to get their attention.

Since I'm sure it took several police officers a few hours to "determine" that a Kangaroo escaped from a zoo they're giving themselves credit for an "investigation". Let them take their credit if it makes them feel good; it'll soften the pain the kangaroo will inflict on them when they try to arrest it!

China can deny it all they want but nothing like this happens in a communist regime unless it is sanctioned at a high level. I'm sure we'll see more subtle "slowing" of things in the future.

Under a communist government making a statement like "our leader is an idiot" is considered "revealing state secrets"!

Just think of the economic damage her detention is having on some shops in Ginza! Japan should sieze on this as an opportunity to change immigration laws to restrict even more foreign criminals from corrupting thier xenophobic society. I suggest barring any foreigner who has every had a traffic ticket of any kind! This should keep out the real riff-raff! WTF?

No shots fired huh? I'm sure a few pirates crapped their pants when the Marines introduced themselves by politely pointing very nasty looking weapons in their stunned faces! Unfortunately we'll now waste money feeding and incarcerating them for awhile.

May the souls of these innocent two children rest in peace! May the mother burn in hell for eternity after she spends the rest of her pathetic life rotting in prison!
I agree with the other posts that this will happen again and again with no end in sight! Japan has made a human life an utterly worthless commodity!

Wow! Japan's own version of the Hitler Youth! I'll bet they drive around in black vans too. I can't wait for them to mess with the wrong person (i.e. a pissed foreigner). I'd love to see a picture of him with his cool logo jacket, cuffed to a tree with the baton shoved up his a$$. These guys are by their own admission operating outside the law so they have absolutely no legal authority whatsoever.

I don't think there is any financial compensation in this country for screwing up! They just apologize and the legions of obedient robots accept it as status quo.

I've run into more than a few young Japanese who insist the attack on Pearl Harbor was a RETALIATION for the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki! I'm sure that's a result of thier fine nationalist-approved testbooks and government officials who refuse to remove thier heads from thier sphincters to see the light of history!

Yes, please feed the psycho-nationalists lots of free dolphin meat for guarding poor Taiji and keeping the foreigners out! Maybe a few will choke on the meat and make the world a much nicer place!

Nothing went wrong. A bunch of pompous liars made promises they had no intention of keeping for the sole purpose of getting themselves elected. The people of Japan swallowed the lies hook, line and sinker and now the country has an ineffectual and incompetent government that can't provide the simplest bit of leadership! You asked for it you got it! Now with prospects of Ozawa making a comeback Japan is headed to even darker times, especially in international relations.

As a cyclist I have to say the idea of a shoe with a light in the rear is unique. For riding at night the more I do to increase my profile to drivers the safer I am. Now on a point of style I have to say these are the UGLIEST shoes I've ever seen! There is nothing wrong with yellow but they look more like they belong on a golf course than a bike!
