Prefectural nuisance laws? Sounds like a farce charge. Doesn't Japan have sexual assault laws that can be used in cases like this? This sounds as ridiculous as charging somebody for illegally disposing of a body instead of murder just because the police are incompetent investigators. C'mon! Take a step out of the stoneage and crack down on the perversion, molestation, assault and exploitation of women with some laws that have stiff penalties and long jail terms.
I find it even more ridiculous that after the girl complained to police they "informed the railway company". Are they really THAT lazy that they expect the railway company to do their job for them?

The Japanese have absolutely no idea how STUPID they are going to look if they bring him to Japan on some BS charge. The words "establish a criminal case" seem to be a translation of "fabricate something now matter how ridiculous it looks to the rest or the world!"
Sea Shepherd is scoring a MAJOR media victory with this move and can probably raise enough money from donations to buy a battleship! Nothing the Japanese do can save them from a PR sh$$-storm and further humiliation.

"Japan’s Fisheries Minister Hirotaka Akamatsu lashed out at the activists on Friday, telling reporters: “I am full of rage. I could not believe they did such a thing.”
Sir, it's certainly not RAGE you are full of, but then you are a politician and expected to spout off lies to deceive and conceal the truth about anything and everything!
You are truly holding up the image of Japanese politicians and should be proud of yourself. You're also making the rest of the world LAUGH thier FAO!

Youtube? I'd love to see that on the 7 PM NHK news but we all know that'll never happen! I watched it on the Sea Shepherd website and LMFAO while I played it again and again and again! Priceless! These whalers (or whoever the "ghostbusters" were have got to be complete morons! How can anybody be that stupid and blast THAT much pepper spray straight into the wind?

But a good man with good intentions nonetheless! Better than the old communists keeping control in China and complaining about the rest of the world while they enslave Tibet.

If there had not been a problem and recall in the US I wonder if this wouldn't have just been swept under the rug and forgotten in Japan? Maybe all the media hype will result in a few (Japanese) lives saved!

Yup! I knew it would happen. But Toyota is not worried about it in Japan because Japanese people won't even think about suing (and those that do won't find a lawyer capable of going against a big corporation).

unfamiliar is not the word that best fits their skills with "real telephones" ... STUPID MORON says it so much better. I agree with using the US approach to office leadership "answer the friggin phone or you'll be in the ER having it removed from your a$$!"

A $30 light bulb? I was in KS Denkodo the other day and they only had a few cheap ones like that. Most of the LED bulbs were in the $50 to $75 range. These are a great power saving idea and if they ever come down in price I'm sure the public will embrace them 100%.

Given Japan's record of honoring signed agreements I wouldn't hold out hope even if they sign the Hague Convention! Japanese will simply claim abuse (and no proof is required in the Japanese family legal system) and say the convention doesn't apply.
It is good to see presure being cranked up. The only things that ever get Japan's attention seem to be brute force and money!

Japan has child car seat laws? Wow! What a surprise! I never would have guessed from looking at all the parents tossing their kids into the front seat when they pick them up from daycare (meaning they just sit or stand there with not even a seatbelt on). My real moron favorite is the mother driving with the toddler on her lap! Once again Japanese are clueless when it comes to the safety of their children and police are utterly useless in enforcing (or even educating people about) existing laws!
