If they are testing the water in the rice fields are they testing the water we drink in those areas as well, or is this just another "do enough to keep the public from lynching us" measure on the part of the government? I hope the fields turn up okay because this is a huge area and the economic impact would be devastating to many farmers!

It is suspicious but for it to be true censorship it would have to involve removing negative information or blocking the publishing of such information. Going by what this article says it looks like an effort to address negative comments with government and nuclear industry propaganda and not a measure of suppression.
It will be left to see what is done when "accounts are reported" to the government. If METI comes knocking on my door because I post remarks about Japanese government lies, corruption, and coverups somebody is going to get a big foot up the ass!

Come on Japan, screw international opinion and just BAN FOREIGNERS from Taiji! If you don't care what people think then why would you care about the condemnation you'd face from the REST OF THE FRIGGIN PLANET!

Using such measures to discipline employees is a sign of weak and ineffective leadership. Training (re-training in this case) should focus on correcting performance deficiencies and improving the productivity of employees. I'm sure that dispite this lawsuit, this kind of thing continues today.

They always leave the engines running while napping. I've seen tour bus drivers sleeping in buses for hours with the engines running. So much for CO2 reduction!

Certification is just the first step but sanctions are needed to get their attention. Japan should be included as well, it's the only way to get through those thick nationalist skulls that the world isn't buying the "research" crap!

So we can assume everyone who walked out with Japan (except maybe Iceland) did so to ensure they keep getting those fat cash-stuffed envelopes coming their way. Poor Japan, always the victim! Why not quit the IWC completely? Oh, wait, then you wouldn't be able to do any "legitimate research" and the Australians could sieze and arrest you for poaching.

I commend the minister for standing up to the Japanese and giving them a firm "hell no" and calling their research a load of crap! The Japanese seem to understand only two things in this world, superior military force and economic embargos. If their heavy oil fueled ships cross south of 60 degrees this year they are in violation of international maritime law. Maybe Australia should send some enforcement to tag along, if only to sieze and arrest the Japanese fleet when they cross the line.
