Japanese LOVE cash, especially in large fat envelopes passed under the table when nobody is looking! Cracking down on vote buying will knock the Japanese completely into a corner at the IWC. The ONLY reason so many 3rd and 4th world countries (with no coastlines) are even members is Japan's money. I'm sure the Japanese delegates will now be trying to bribe even more people to vote this proposal down!

If I were the Governor of Miyagi Prefecture and had to listen to this clown I would have been quoted in the media as having said to my aides "please escort this a$$hole out of my office and make sure to give him a good swift kick in the a$$ out the door!" Arrogant is an understatement for this moron! Once again Japan makes headlines that the world can laugh at!

Okay! I OFFICIALLY declare school administrators in this country IDIOTS! There, it has been officially declared, not they can proceed with making stupid decisions! Pomp and Circumstance is SO much more important than the health of the children!

The bullets these two will get in the head someday will be well-deserved, and the only vote they'll understand!

The Japanese people? They have no say in the matter. Even if 100% were against it, the greedy and corrupt politicians who receive fat donations to their "management funds" and promises of after-retirement jobs will continue to side with the power companies.

Japan Inc. Doesn't want a real leader, it needs somebody who can be manipulated by business interests and power hungry corrupt wanna-be leaders like Ozawa. Noda will do fine in that role for a year until he to is kicked aside for another.

I was sitting on the can at that very moment and the house started shaking HARD! The only thing I could do was a quick courtesy flush! Glad they cancelled the tsunami warning though!

These cyber terrorists deserve the same treatment as the real ones. Let a few get a midnight visit from the Navy SEALs and a loving "double tap"

I have several solar panels and portable batteries that I used after the earthquake to keep things charging. The little ones you can get at department stores are crap but the ones made for backcountry hiking etc can run my laptop and IPad. The concept of fire to generate juice interesting but the fact that it still requires a fuel and creates emissions should be considered.

In a few other countries they'd be lined up an shot! Japan's nuclear safety has always been a joke and will always be a joke (although a much sadder one these days). When profit is at stake standards and inspections become a hinderance and are ignored over a few envelopes of cash.

It's a cultural thing. To have friends you have to get out and make them. Greet your neighbors when you see them, invite them over for a beer or BBQ once in awhile. Let them know they can always ask you for help if they need something. Open up a little and make friends, especially with the foreigner next door :) (hint, he's a nice guy and always has a few cold ones in the fridge!)

Is this the new "Tokyo Version" of the DuPont Tyvek radiation suits? I'd recommend adding the ventilator and face shield to the hat though.

In a country with a functional judicial system and real police, making a statement like "I intended to kill him" will get you locked up in the big house for "assault with intent to commit murder". What's it get you in Japan?

These suits are available online from numerous suppliers for prices as low as $6.95 US if you buy a case of 24. Look for them in Shibuya soon (probably in the 20,000 Yen or more range!) Maybe DuPont will offer them in designer colors just for the Japanese market. I've ordered mine for Halloween this year, complete with the facemask ventilator, booties, and gloves. Of course by October I might need one for REAL is TEPCO is still in charge of things!
