I'm not saying you are incorrect, but could you please give a reference for this? The Conservative government in Canada has been quietly sinking a lot of resources into the military, and we pulled above our weight is Afghanistan. This could have something about the "tooth to tail" ratio in the US military. Just the other day in Toronto there was a huge military parade in Toronto commemorating the 200th anniversity of the defeat of American forces invading Canada at the Battle of York during the War of 1812 and HRH Prince Philip was officiating. Some Canadians are concerned that if things really fall apart down south we will have to actively defend our borders again...

Why is this issue of such importance around the world? Aren't there many more important economic, political and security challenges? However, this seems to be the only issue Western politicians will take a firm, fighting stand on, and increasingly this HAS to be pro-gay or the politician will be crucified by the media, which I guess has many gays in it...
