spidapig, I'm afrarid it's you who can't read. The 16DDH and 18DDH already are in operation with the 22DDH to be built. None of these vessels are fittted for VTOL aircraft which Japan DOESN'T EVEN HAVE and is merely internet gossip and speculation. These ships are dsigned to operate as platforms for anti-sub helicopters. You;re argument that China should be allowed to have aircraft carriers because Japan has them is nonsense.

spiudapig "So China is building up its military, who isnt?

No body at China's rate and with China's degree of non-transpareccy, Also China is the only nuclear power that is officially INCREASING it's nuclear warheads.

" As for your inane comment about " Japan's past short lived imperialist history", Japan has invaded and killed more in its "short lived imperialistic past (around 40 years by the way) than China has in its 50 years of communism. "

Deaths attribiuted to Japan during WWII = 20 to 30,000,000. Deaths attributed to the PRC sice inception: 77,000,000.

Chinese pilot's English skills and Japanese flight controller's English skills and a Chinese airline. Talk about living dangerously.

"Its amusing to hear the Japanese complaining about the fact that the Chinese are testing their one aircraft carrier. Especially when Japan has commenced building its own aircraft carrier (oops sorry its a Helicopter carrying destroyer) that is capable of launching F-35, and is planning to build 3 in total. So its not ok for China to have one but its totally ok for Japan to have 3."

Total nonsense. The deck strengths of the JMSDF heli-carriers aren'tr capable of supporting VTOL aircraft like the F-35 which is hardly in Japan's hands yet anyway.

" Wow and who out of China and Japan has a history of imperialistic expansion?"

Wow and what country has been and continues to be an authoritarian dictatorship for the last 50 years, is on a massive miltary expansion program, bullies all of it's neighbors and is considered a threat by all nations in Asia ascwell as Oceania? Japan's past short lived imperialist history doesn't justify China's behavior today.

"A very good plan, no need to always involve the US to fix problems."

The US, having already declared that the Senkakus are within the sphere of US defense of Japan is already involved as it is the only thing keeping China from talking them militarily. Just ask the other Asian countries currently being bullied by China.

"“We are looking forward to cooperating with the U.S. in the region and at the EAS,”

We will not sit idly by while the US pursues it's agenda. As an active particpant we can determine your intentions and actions and cointest and countrer them as needed.

"The United States wanted to discuss the disputes in general terms in the summit, but China says the issue should be confined to talks between the individual regional nations concerned"

    Yes, divide and conquer.

"On one level, none at all. On another level, at least leather can be looked on as a by-product of the food industry that is put to practical use, while fur animals are raised and killed for shallow fashion, just because they were unfortunate enough to be born with a beautiful coat.:

How do you know the chinchilla wasn't stir fried with baby bok choy, bean sprouts, oyster sauce and a splash of sesame oil and wasn't absolutely fantastic at the table? Especially if the source was a Chinese fur farm, where incidentally some of the worst abuses of the furbearing animals occur. It's hypocritical to differentiate between leather as a by-product of the meat industry and fur bearting animals from the view of of a devout vegan since the end result is exactly the same for the animal.

"Innuit wear fur as a necessity - Tarento wear fur as a sign of ignorance."

You must really think the Innuit are a backwards people. They don't wear fur out of "necessity" they do so out of culture and tradition as they can afford the very best in gortex and thinsulate that LL Bean can offer. Just like they don't spear their whales and seals and "mush" home on the dog sled. They shoulder their remington rifles and hop on their snowmobiles.

30 years later this boat captain is STILL making money over this.

"socks and a down jacket, and had multiple bruises on her body and arms and an abrasion on her left cheek"

Media still leaves out that police found those bruises consistent with falling from the yacht so that it sounds like murder.

Vegan fanatics who have an agenda of convincing the entire human race to cease consuming all animal protein including fish aren't really in a position to offer an objective answer to this question. They will find fault with both the harvesting of wild fish stocks as well as fish farming in principle and offer no solution other than that peopler shouldn't eat fish at all. Of course should people agree and stop eating fish and eat only meats that wouldn't be acceptable either.

Posted in: With overfishing a big issue, what is the best fish to eat in terms of species that reproduce quickly, are still in good supply and are caught using methods that minimize bycatch and damage to the ocean floor?

The U.S. has no need to wreck China;s relationship with it's neighbors as China does that very well on it's own through arrogance and bullying, an out of proportion nationalism, a rapdly expanding military and territorial agenda. The difference between Chinese hegemony in asia and U.S. strategic dominance is that our Asian allies want us there as they see Chinas as a threat. What country wants the Chinese PLA on their territory? Nobody. Not even teeth & lips North Korea,

I suppose several months late is better than never. The HAL system was already working a few years ago but nobody put two and two together because Japan, unlike the U.S. doesn't have a military that would have pushed the project for it''s own purposes and that would have naturally included such anti-radiation suits,
