Jackie Chan is very cool. I can't believe he's still doing his own stunts at this age though.

"Oh.... then why the pressure to show up as a lap-dog to the shrub? Surely that's not politics."
I guess someone isn't paying attention to the advances in bilateral relations that China and Japan has been undergoing over this past year. It's pretty obvious that Fukuda would hae gone to the Olympics even if Bush didn't.

"Bush urging Americans to be proud of their nation is like Hitler urging Germans to be proud of the Third Reich."
Absurd comment. The differences dwarf the similarities.

I think that most of us are quite Proud of the United States. I suspect a far greater number may be less proud of their President.

I would consider setting an arbitrary deadline and pulling out all US troops out of Iraq regardless of the circumstances at the time and extent of potential civil war and the establishment of an Iran backed fundamenalist Iraqi govt to be a "Change For the Worse". But that's just me. Anyone who becomes President would be committed to ending the Iraq war. It's just a matter of how.

Impossible. All westerners love Japan except for the ones on the JT board.

While this sounds great on the receiving end, it seems to me that the only thing it really accomplishes is to lower the Utah State govt's energy costs, a savings which correctly pointed out by skipthesong which should be beneifitting the Utah taxpayers. As to lowering the energy cost for the entire state of Utah, shall I assume that everyone on Fridays will now, instead of going to work, will sit in their homes with no light. no a/c or heat, not use any electric or electronic devices, not use the car to go anywhere (including driving to the mountains to hike or bike)? Individual energy consumption is going to take the place of the State govt reduction, that's all.

"Do they eat ramen with forks in America?"
Yes, in the mid west, maybe south. Here in New York, with the number of Chinese and Japanese restaurants around, very few people eat ramen with a fork. I think the same goes for the West coast.

I rarely agree with smithinjapan on anything but I do on this one. In todays difficult and competitive global economy we are simply being stupid not to revamp our entire policy and outlook on our beef export industry where we have and can, if we are willing, to maintain our global dominance.

Let the NKoreans keep working on dividing the US and Japan. Japan in he meantime has gotten much closer to China, and unlike Nkorea aren't China's beggar neighbor that NKorea is. In a couple of years China will be lisening to Japan and putting pressure on NKorea.

I think Condi Rice is one of the best Secretarys of State we have ever had. When considering who her boss is and all the bad judgement calls, she might even qualify as the best. Too bad she won't run for VP slot. And I don't think Tom Schieffer has done poorly at all.

Wow...so much for China's big coming-out party. I wonder if the CCP bureaucrats who advocated Beijing holding the 2008 Olympics are eventually going to charged with "activities against the state". Those poor people will have counterparts in the IOC. I'm glad I got myself a big HD TV.

True..something is wrong. But when have the developed nations been willing to make the kind of effort that they do so willingly in other parts of the world? Once again I bet we do nothing about it.
