I think it looks very nice. As to being a waste of energy, yes it is. Just like 90% of everything else we do.

If WAIWAI was merely making available in English material that was already available in Japanese papers then it is nothing compared to the high level of thoughtless J-bashing that goes on in the JT Forums.

Comments suggesting blame on the US or JPN miss the point. Civilians are always the victims in any war, and "right-or-wrong" on the part of govts which put into action events beyond the people's control ultimately don't mean anything in the face of human loss and suffering. Let them pray in peace.

Enjoy it now. Wait till your over 50 and your doctor tells you to start running like a hamster cause your blood pressure/cholesterol/ blood sugar is too high.

Actually there are quite a few women of various nationalities who travel to foreign lands alone. Unless the traveller was deliberately visiting a war zone or similar, it's rather silly to accuse the victiom of naivety in travelling alone in the United States. Stabbed 29 times. Doesn't Arizona have a death penalty?

Hate to say it but with headlines like this being so common, not just China but all over the world, it doesn't even seem like news anymore.

Since Resident Aliens in the US can sponser their parents, children and SPOUSES to obtain a permanent visa (green card), I guess the US Immigration peoiple will also have to re-write the codes. I can see all the terrorists trying to get in on gay-marriage visas already ;)

So if a gay married couple can file California state taxes jointly? And how about the Federal? Do they become unmarried separate single people again? What about when they are in foreign countries? Will they be granted the same courtesies that a heterosexual married couple would be? For that matter will the fact that they are married in CA be recognized at all?

For all the comments here suggesting that only JP men would frequent such places, I have yet to meet any non-JP male who didn't want to experience this aspect of JP society.

So the let's offer them those F-22s. Software free version so they can build it to their specs and load it themselves. No problem as long as its compatible with ours. They're gonna want mini-carriers in the future. Do they have any VTOL aircraft? Can we offer them something?

"Pakistan on Thursday said a “cowardly” air strike by U.S.-led forces killed 11 Pakistani troops on Wednesday near the Afghan border and warned that it had harmed cooperation in the war against terrorism."
Mistaken accidental bombing (frendly fire) is neither "cowardly" nor "courageous", it is simply a mistake. This kind of stupid comment from the Pakistanis "harms cooperation in the war against terrorism". And while were're at it if the Pakistanis weren't so deep in bed with the Taliban I suspect we could have put an end to them a couple years ago. When are we going to really shake them down so they stop playing games with us and the world?

Sorry but I think that leaving aside the merits of the arguments, whether they be The Liancourt Rocks or US Troop presence or freakin beef, Koreans in general need to chill out. They don't have to get hysterical over everything. Maybe a little less red pepper in the diet. I dunno.

'Lots of jobs around the world are very dependent on the ongoing stability of China, and thatis also true of jobs in China very dependent on the world as a whole."
Actually, despite China's massive economic growth over the last 10 years it is generally accepted that it has been, and continues to be export fueled as China has not quite developed a domestic economy to match. Therefore, the Chinese worker actually relies more on the rest of the world than the other way around. Hong Kong is a special case as we all know and hardly respresents all of Mainland China, before or after the handover. But it is true that great strides in income and living standards hae been made in China, althogh clearly the gap between the haves and have-nots is growing wider, as is the discontent towards the CCP dictatorship. This article shows what anyone with brains could have projected years ago, that China made promises of changing it's authoritarian ways and threw money to get the Olympic nomination, and that they weren't going to come through. Their responmse to the Tibet issue highlighted this. I think it will be another several hundred years before anyone will want to see the Olympics in China again, short of a real change in the government there. But the Olympics so far have been good for China, at least the Beijing public toilets are no longer holes in the ground.
