After this is all over, and the numbers of post-cyclone deaths from disease and starvation dwarf the actual during-cyclone deaths, this Mynmar military government will go down in history as one of the worlds biggest deliberate mass murderers. Time to start identifying each and every high level person and prepare a case for Crimes against Humanity.

"And I hope Japanese voters know the difference between a presidential erection and presidential election."
During the Clinton presidency I felt that this didn't make much difference.

Without going further to explain why they are expecting a loss, this article is completely pointless. All the reasons for a decline in profit are claimed to have been offset by higher sales volume in the first sentence.

"For the record what exactly does Obama stand for again? Oh yeah that's right absolutely nothing."
He doesn't have to. He's not Hillary. If I were a democrat I would vote for Obama on that basis alone, as stupid as that sounds. Apart from everything I could say about Hillary, I'm not going to let the man who disgraced the office of the US Presidency back into the White House ever again.

HodeDo "OssanULTRA--it has everything to do with market closure. J-Beef targets a different market only because it's expensive and can't compete with cheaper US and Aussie beef, but if the J-Gov shuts out US beef (which they won't do with Aussie beef as Aeon owns quite a few cattle ranches there) by fearmongering or outright ban, the j-beef can target the entire market byb default."
That's the most ridicious interpretation of "market" I've ever heard of. Disposabable income is finite. You don't stop selling regular gas at $4.00 a gallon and think "OH boy I'm gonna force all these consumers to buy the $6.00 Hi-Octane". Consumers will simply cut down on their driving. Extra money isn't going come blowing out their hindquarters along with the monkeys. If only the more expensive Domestic Beef is available, it will simply be purchased less. Market Closure would make sense if Japan had a domestic beef industry that competed directly with the imports. They don't. BTW Japanese firms also have investments in beef cattle operations in the US as well, not just Australia.

"while the US keeps going down" You mean this little slowdown?
"Yes, thats what they like to call it to avoid total panic. But what is just around the corner is an economic disaster that will make the great depression of 80 years ago look like a picnic. WWII help the US get out of that depression, I wonder how they'll get out of this one."
Well considering that we are China's best export customer and they still haven't built a domsetic economy strong enough to grow without an export market, guess what's going to happen to China if the US goes into a "Great Depression" as you describe? So much for "China keeps going up".

A contract agreement which specifically specifies no spines and such requires nothing more than adherence. Arguing about whether inspections are necesssary or whether the buyers have the right stop buying is absurd. And since Japanese domestic beef is a different type of product targeting a different market, this has nothing to do with opening or closing markets. If anything, it's opening the door wide open for our real competitors...Australian Beef. It doesn't take rocket scientists to inspect JUST THE EXPORT TO JAPAN PACKAGES does it?

It's not just Japan with the titles of English movies all messed up. Look at Chinese movies:
House of Flying Daggers (USA)= Ambush from 10 Directions (Chinese) = Lovers (Japan)
The Banqet(Chinese)= Empress(Japan) = Legend of the Black Scorpion (USA)
Anyway, thanks to IMDB.com I can figure out all these messed up movie titles.

"What?! A war between the world's biggest producer of cheap goods and their best customer? I don't think so."
Things change. Circumstances change. They always have, they always will. And when it does who are the most likely combatants than the two countries that are declared strategic adversaries and train with each other in mind as the enemy...even while one produces the world's cheapest goods and the other is it's best customer.

The next big war, if there is to be one, will be between China and the United States. The reasons will encompass Food, Oil, Ideology, and Water. Economic disparty probably won't be as big an issue by then. While governments can go head to head on many issues from economic to military, they are quite capable of co-existing even as strategic enemies. That is, if cool heads prevail. In the case of China, with the rampant frothing-at-the-mouth Nationalism that the world has seen among the youth, the CCP may end being forced into an action just to avoid being destroyed by the masses. I think many of us realize this, we just don't like thinking about it. I sure don't.

"not such a stupid question, if you add a bit more detail... So let's ask the question a bit differently: do you wish non-Americans living in the U.S. could vote in the U.S. presidential election? Yes, I think this is desirable"
First off, that's not how the question was worded. So it was a stupid question. Secondly even with your modified version of the question it still makes no sense. "Non-Americans living in hte US" would constitute foreign students here for 4 years, foreign visitors in for 90 days who can't speak English, Mexicans who crossed the desert for fifth time to get back in, etc etc. If Non-Americans are to be given the vote at the very least common sense suggests that first they be legal immigrants, and secondly Permanent Residents. While non-citizens can not vote for the US Presidency, many states and municipalities give immgrants with Permanent Resident Status the right to vote.

Butter is really not good for you, in terms of fat and cholesterol. The Japanese ought to pick up the Mediterranean habit of using olive oil with their bread. Or stick to margarine.
